Julio Iglesias is being heralded for his enduring career…

The Recording Academy will honor the 75-year-old Spanish singer and songwriter with its Lifetime Achievement Award.

The award, determined by the Recording Academy’s National Board of Trustees, is presented annually to performers who have made impactful creative contributions to the recording field.

Iglesias, a Grammy and Latin Grammywinner, is recognized as the most commercially successful Continental European singer in the world and one of the top ten record sellers in music history, having sold more than 250 million records worldwide in 14 languages.

It is estimated that during his career he has offered more than 5000 concerts, having performed for over 60 million people on five continents. 

Iglesias’ most popular song may be “To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before,” a duet with Willie Nelson, which hit #1 on the Country charts and made the Top Five on the Billboard Hot 100.^[

In 2001, Iglesias was recognized as the Person of the Year by the Latin Recording Academy.

Iglesias joins a roster of honorees that includes Black Sabbath, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, Dionne Warwick, Donny Hathaway, Sam & Daveand late jazz singer Billy Eckstine. 

The Recording Academy also announced 2019’s Trustee Awardhonorees Lou Adler, Ashford & Simpson and Johnny Mandel. Saul Walkerwill posthumously receive the Technical Grammy Award.

The ceremony will take place on May 11, 2019 in Los Angeles.
