In addition to picking up the special award, Aguilera will take the stage to perform on the live show. No word on what song the “Your Body” singer will tackle yet. But if it’s anything like the performance Aguilera gave at the American Music Awards, it should be a high-energy affair.

The People’s Choice Awards will be broadcast live on January 9, 2013.

Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” Gets the Jimmy Fallon Treatment…

Sure Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is inescapable this season, even topping Billboard’s Holiday Songs chart… But the instaclassic is getting a funtastic makeover.

Mariah Carey & Jimmy Fallon
Backstage before a recent taping of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the 42-year-old part-Venezuelan singer, host Jimmy Fallon and his backing band, The Roots, put a new spin on the Christmas classic by performing the song using classroom instruments.

To increase the adorable quotient: a quartet of kids pop up throughout the performance to sing backup.

Even with the unusual instruments like a ukulele and xylophone, the song comes together quite nicely in delightful harmony.

It’s Fallon’s latest creative re-do of a Latina artist’s song, following his take on Christina Aguilera‘s “Your Body,” featuring office supplies.

Musical instruments, who needs them? Certainly not Christina Aguilera!

During a recent visit to NBC‘s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the 31-year-old half-Ecuadorian American Grammy-winning singer created a musically delicious watercooler moment with only her voice and some offices supplies.

Aguilera, Jimmy Fallon and Fallon’s house band The Roots joined forces for a sweet-sounding performance of The Voice coach’s recent single “Your Body,” using office supplies like a stapler as their musical instruments.

Fallon and The Roots did something similar a few months ago with classroom instruments to Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe.”

Your Body” is the first single off of Aguilera’s seventh studio album Lotus, which will be released next week.

Pitbull Earns Two American Music Award Nods

It could be called a case of déjà vu for Pitbull

For the second straight year, the 31-year-old Cuban American rap superstar has earned two American Music Award nominations. And, he’s picked them up in exact same categories as last year.

Pitbull

Pitbull is nominated in the Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock, where he’ll face stiff competition from Usher, Justin Bieber and Flo Rida.

In addition, Pitbull has received a nomination in the Favorite Artist – Latin category.  He’s up against Don Omar and three-time AMA Latin Artist award winner Shakira, who last picked up the award in the category in 2010. Pitbull and Shakira most recently collaborated together on the dancetastic track “Get It Started.”

The 40th American Music Awards nominations were announced on Tuesday morning in Los Angeles by Christina Aguilera. The “Your Body” singer, who will release her seventh studio album next month, is the first performer announced for the telecast.

Aguilera Releases Risqué Artwork for New Album

On her last album Bionic, Christina Aguilera encouraged listeners to “Desnudate”… But on her latest studio effort, she’s the one getting naked.

The 31-year-old half-Ecuadorian songstress has released the oh-so-revealing cover artwork for her forthcoming album Lotus.

Christina Aguilera

Aguilera wears nothing to cover her skin but her long, flowing blond hair to cover her breasts, while a white light effect conceals her lower body part. She stands at the center of a lotus flower as if she’s blossoming from it.

When discussing album, she explained the meaning behind the title, “Album title: Lotus. Representing an unbreakable flower that survives under the hardest conditions and still thrives.”

“If you love ‘Fighter‘, you’re going to love my new album,” she gushed about the new record in an interview with Lucky magazine. “As a 31-year-old woman, I’ve been uncovering my independence, and it’s been really fun to explore in the new songs.”

On another occasion, she told Ryan Seacrest, “This album is about self-expression and freedom. There is a lot I have gone through personally over the past few years, and this record represents a rebirth for me. The record is about freedom and getting back to the root of who I am and what I love to do.”

Aguilera’s seventh studio album will be released on November 13, with “Your Body” as its lead single.

Aguilera Releases Killer Music Video for “Your Body”

Talk about a killer clip… Christina Aguilera has released the music video for “Your Body,” the first single off her upcoming album, Lotus.

From the beginning of the 31-year-old half-Ecuadorian American singer’s Melina Matsoukas-directed clip, which was released Friday, it’s clear The Voice coach is feelin’ forceful against non-females.

Christina Aguilera's Your Body Video

“No men were harmed in the making of this video,” reads the graphic at the beginning of the official music video for “Your Body,” which features a trailer-trashtastic Aguilera seducing and slaughtering several men who only want to love her body.

Seemingly inspired by the animated cartoon violence on her TV screen, Aguilera takes out one male victim after another… A dude with a car that she blows up, a pool-playin’ playa she takes out in the bar’s bathroom and more.

Produced by Max Martin and Shellback, “Your Body” debuted at No. 34 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 after hitting the web last week. It’s the first single off of Aguilera’s fifth studio album, Lotus, which she has called a “rebirth.”

“This album represents a celebration of the new me, and to me the lotus has always represented this unbreakable flower that withstands any harsh weather conditions in its surroundings, that withstands time and remains beautiful and strong throughout the years,” Aguilera told Billboard in last week’s cover story previewing the new album. “Once I could start writing my own songs, beginning with Stripped, I tried to infuse as much as I could to promote strength and inspire people with that message. And now I’m at a place at 31, where the last time I felt this way was when I was 21 with Stripped and I had a lot to say and a lot to express.”

Along with “Your Body,” Lotus will feature a collaboration with Sia on “Blank Page” and a duet with her fellow The Voice coach Cee Lo Green on “Make The World Move.”

Aguilera can currently be seen each week as a coach on the third season of the hit NBC singing competition show.

Lotus is due out November 13 on RCA Records.
