Make that a Perfect 10 for J Balvin

The 33-year-old Colombian urban singer has earned his 10th  No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart with “Ambiente,” the fourth single off his latest studio album, Vibras.

J Balvin

The track zooms 10-1 in its 11thweek on the chart dated July 7, and earns the week’s Greatest Gainer honors thanks to a 70 percent increase in audience (to 16.74 million in the week ending July 1), according to Nielsen Music.

The nine-position leap is the biggest jump to No. 1 since March 10, when Wisin’s “Todo Comienza En La Disco,” featuring Yandel and Daddy Yankee, rose 11 ranks (12-1).

“Ambiente,” which was released on April 13, is Balvin’s third No. 1 of the year. It follows “X” with Nicky Jam, which topped the list on the April 28-dated chart, ruling for two weeks, and “Machika” with Neon and Anitta which led for one week on March 24.

“I’m extremely grateful for so many blessings, for seeing how every day we are reinventing ourselves musically,” Balvin tells Billboard. “Thankful as we go surprising the audience with different sounds and “Ambiente” has not been the exception. I am very happy with this 10th  No. 1. Thank you for everything, onwards with the Latin culture.”

For a second week in a row, Balvin has three songs in the top 10 (“Ambiente” at No. 1, “X” with Nicky Jam steady at No. 2, and “I Like It” with Cardi B and Bad Bunny moving 7-10).

Further, for the first time in his career, Balvin holds down the top two at the same time — an achievement only seven other acts have managed in the chart’s 23-year history. Balvin is also just the fifth act to be both Nos. 1 and 2 as a lead artist, and the first since Pitbull in 2011 (Oct. 15, 2011: “Rain Over Me,” featuring Marc Anthony was No. 1, and “Give Me Everything,” featuring Ne-Yo,Afrojack and Nayer was No. 2).

“Ambiente” also lands atop the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart, rising 8-1. It’s Balvin’s 10th No. 1.

Earlier this week, Balvin earned his first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 alongside Cardi B and Bad Bunny with their hit single “I Like It.”

Carey Delays Release of New Album Indefinitely

Mariah Carey is putting the brakes on the release of her latest album.

The 43-year-old half-Venezuelan singer and former American Idol judge informed fans via Twitter that she’s delaying the release of her 14th studio album indefinitely.

Mariah Carey

“While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don’t feel it would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23,” Carey wrote. Originally slated for a July 23 debut, The Art of Letting Go doesn’t have a new release date yet.

“I’d rather not exclude meaningful songs,” she added. “I want to give you this album as it’s meant to be heard. When I’m ready, you’ll be the first 2 know.”

The news comes as a blessing to fellow Latina songstress Selena Gomez, whose forthcoming Stars Dance was supposed to come out on same day as Carey’s album. With the pop diva out of the way, Gomez now has a stronger chance of scoring a No. 1 chart debut, though she’ll still have to contend with Chris Brown’s X in its second week of sales.

Carey, meanwhile, still has a #Beautiful hit on her hands… The lead single from her now-undated album. “#Beautiful” feat. Miguel has thus far peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Lopez Collaborating with Chris Brown on Next Album

Jennifer Lopez is looking to get her old sound back… And she’s recruiting Chris Brown to help.

In an interview with Extra‘s Mario Lopez, the 43-year-old Puerto Rican singer/actress confirmed that she’s teaming-up with the hip-hop superstar for her next studio album.

Jennifer Lopez & Chris Brown

The “Dance Again” songstress tweeted photos of herself with Brown inside the recording studio, one with her resting her head on the 23-year-old artist’s shoulder and another with the two posing for a snapshot with producer Cory Rooney.

“Yes, when we were in the studio, writing songs and just getting that ‘Jenny from the Block‘ flavor back,” la Lopez revealed about their work together. “We actually worked on a bunch of [title] ideas… and we talked about doing a duet together for his album.”

Although Lopez doesn’t have title for her upcoming album just yet, the former American Idol judge is determined to finish it for a summer release, choosing to focus on her new music and releasing it before she works on other projects.

“Every time I get a new song I’m like, ‘Oh, that could be a new title for the album’,” J.Lo said about her current title selection process.

Lopez will be returning the favor to Brown when she sings on a track on his forthcoming album X. Brown announced that he had a couple songs on his new album where she could make a smashing appearance. The talented singer/dancer also admitted how much he would like to make a music video with J.Lo, who’s known for her dancing skills as much as her singing.
