The International Trailer of Gomez’s “Spring Breakers” Released

The international trailer for Selena Gomez’s Spring Breakers shows just how far of a departure she’s taken from her Wizards of Waverly Place character…

The 20-year-old half-Mexican American actress/singer, who will be releasing a new music soon, appears in the just-released, red-band worthy Spring Breakers trailer from French company Mars Distribution.

Spring Breakers

The clip for Harmony Korine’s R-rated Day-Glo coed crime romp shows a racier look at what the domestic previews have held back: drug use, nudity, guns galore and gratuitous f-bombs dropped by Gomez and her co-stars Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine.

James Franco also stars in the film as a blinged-out thug rapper complete with a gold grill.

Spring Breakers, which will premiere at the SXSW Film Conference and Festival in Austin next month, will open in theaters in the United States on March 22.

Gomez’s “The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex” Trailer Released

It’s a battle of good vs. evil when Selena Gomez returns to Waverly Place

The Disney Channel has released the official trailer for the Wizards of Waverly Place movie special featuring the 20-year-old half-Mexican American actress/singer battling herself.

Selena Gomez

Gomez returns as Alex Russo in the highly anticipated television event, “The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex” — a movie based on the Disney Channel’s popular series — and she’s facing her “biggest battle yet,” the trailer teases: Herself.

The Alex vs. Alex trailer informs fans that since winning the family wizard competition, Alex has struggled to use magic for good, so she decides to use magic to remove “just the parts that nobody likes” from herself.

Despite her father’s warning that “magic is not for getting what you want or using it for selfish reasons,” Alex accidentally conjures up two versions of herself: Good Alex and Evil Alex.

Alex vs. Alex sees Alex’s younger brother Max (Jake T. Austin), mom Theresa (Maria Canals-Barrera), dad Jerry (David DeLuise), best friend Harper (Jennifer Stone) and boyfriend-cum-werewolf Mason (Gregg Sulkin) travel to Tuscany to meet the Russo’s long-lost relatives. Though David Henrie will not be back as Alex’s older brother Justin for Alex vs. Alex, Beau Mirchoff of MTV’s Awkward fame joins the cast as an evil sorcerer.

The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex will premier on the Disney Channel  on Friday, March 15 at 8 p.m. EST.

Gomez to Release New Album Next March

If you’re tired of hittin’ repeat-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat on Selena Gomez’s last album When the Sun Goes Down, you’ll only have to wait a little longer for new music.

The 20-year-old half-Mexican American singer/actress, who has been focusing more in recent months on acting projects like Spring Breakers and Getaway will reportedly release her next studio album in March 2013.

Selena Gomez

Gomez was in Texas on Wednesday to help Ryan Seacrest open Seacrest Studios, an interactive media experience for kids at the Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. During the event, Seacrest posted via Twitter, “@selenagomez just told me new album in march fyi,” and linked to a photo of himself and the former Disney Channel star.

Though no other information has been released, the news hints at the end of Gomez’s musical hiatus, which started back in January 2012.

To date Gomez’s last album, When The Sun Goes Down, has sold 642,000 copies since its June 2011 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album — her third with her band Selena Gomez & The Scene — spawned her biggest airplay hit ever, “Love You Like a Love Song,” which reached No. 15 on the Billboard Radio Songs chart and her first top 10 on the Pop Songs tally.

Since the album’s release, Gomez has turned her attention to acting, lending her voice to Hotel Transylvania and returning to her Disney roots for a Wizards of Waverly Place special. She also launched a self-titled fragrance last spring.

It’s no wonder Gomez was recently named Glamour magazine’s 2012 Woman of the Year for her burgeoning career and her continued philanthropic work with UNICEF.

Gomez Named Glamour’s Woman of the Year

She’s only 20-years-old… But Selena Gomez is this year’s woman of the year!

Following in Jennifer Lopez’s footsteps, the Mexican-American singer/actress has been named this year’s Woman of the Year by Glamour magazine

Selena Gomez

Gomez, who graces the cover of the magazine’s December issue as part of the honor, proves she’s Hollywood’s golden girl in a gold gown and fiery red lipstick.

“Woman of the Year — I didn’t even know I was a woman! I’m very honored… and it’s a very, very big deal to me,” said Gomez about receiving the honor. “I’m going to hold it close to my heart.”

Gomez earned the title for her work as UNICEF’s youngest ambassador. She recently helped Chilean families with the “Programa Puede” program, which develops early childhood education in impoverished communities.

Meanwhile, SelGo’s music and acting careers haven’t slowed down one bit… Along with landing four No. 1 singles on the Billboard charts including, “I Love You Like a Love Song” and “Who Says,” she’s taking on more grown-up roles in films like Spring Breakers and Getaway. She’s also starring in and executive producing a new Wizards of Waverly Place movie to be released next year.

Warner Bros has scheduled Getaway, directed by Courtney Solomon, for an August 30, 2013 release.

In its Labor Day weekend slot, Getaway faces a pair of Wednesday, August 28 openers: Focus FeaturesClosed Circuit and the Weinstein Company’s Satanic.
