Lopez & Wisin y Yandel Release Their Collaboration, “Follow the Leader”

She showed you como ama una mujer… And, now Jennifer Lopez is telling the world how to follow the leader.

The 42-year-old Puerto Rican singer/actress’ Spanglish single with reggaeton duo Wisin y Yandel, entitled “Follow the Leader,” was released to radio and iTunes this week.

And, the track lives up to all the hype. It’s truly dancetastic, complete with a catchy hook and tropical vibe.

Lopez’s collaboration with Wisin y Yandel—her second collaboration of the month, following the release of her single “Dance Again” with Pitbullwill be included on the reggaeton duo’s upcoming album Los Lideres.

And the video for “Follow the Leader,” directed by Jessy Terrero in Acapulco, Mexico, will be out soon.

Pitbull Receives BMI President’s Award

He’s made music that has seriously entertained the masses… And, now Pitbull is being recognized for his influence on the entertainment industry.

The 31-year-old Cuban American rap superstar—who recently partnered with Jennifer Lopez on “Dance Again,” their second hit single together—received the BMI President’s Award during the 19th edition of the BMI Awards.

Held Friday night at the Encore Hotel in Las Vegas, the gala also served to recognize the work of songwriters and recording studios for the success of their musical creations in 2011.

Pitbull, who performed at the ceremony, also received the BMI award for songwriter of the year, a recognition he shared with Juan Luis Morena LunaWisin,” Llandel Veguilla MalaveYandel” and Espinoza Paz.

Niña de mi corazon,” recorded by La Arrolladora Banda El Limon, was selected as the BMI Latin song of the year with the award going to songwriter Horacio Palencia.

In the past, the BMI President’s Award has been presented to Juanes, Kike Santander and Gloria Estefan.

Lopez Preparing to “Dance Again”…

It looks like Jennifer Lopez is hoping to get you back on the floor this spring and summer…

The 42-year-old Puerto Rican singer, actress and American Idol judge is getting ready to release “Dance Again,” a brand new single featuring Pitbull.

Following the success of Lopez’s “On The Floor” single, it’s no surprise the former-dancer-who-still-moves-like-Jagger even teamed up again with the Cuban American rap superstar on the new track.

The Q’Viva host & producer tweeted information on the due dates of the single and its upcoming music video, “#DanceAgain hits March 30th and video premieres April 5th on #idol.”

Her label boss, L.A. Reid, added, “Has a hot new single ‘Dance Again’ available on Monday, 4/02.”

Along with preparing a video for “Dance Again”, la Lopez will sing and appear in a music video for a song called “Follow the Leader” with Wisin & Yandel. The clip was filmed in Acapulco, Mexico.

She scored YouTube’s most-watched video of the year in the music category with PitbullAnd, rocked the galaxy in Will.i.am’s “T.H.E (The Hardest Ever)” video. And now Jennifer Lopez is getting her collab on all over again, this time with Wisin y Yandel!

Despite her hectic schedule—as an American Idol judge, talent seeker on her new show Q’Viva: The Chosen and executive producer on MTV Tr3s’ Amigas, Inc.—the 42-year-old Puerto Rican singer/actress is hitting the studio with the Puerto Rican reggaeton duo.

Lopez and Wisin y Yandel recently began work on two new singles in her Los Angeles studio.

One of the tracks will be featured on Wisin y Yandel‘s upcoming album, “Los Líderes,” while the other will appear on Lopez’s upcoming greatest hits album, according to Primera Hora.

The first of the two new singles could be released to radio as soon as February.

Shakira: Premio lo Nuestro Princess…

There’s no doubt Shakira has had a remarkable year…  She’s received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Famewas named Person of the Year by the Latin Recording Academy and won a Latin Grammy.

And, now the 34-year-old Colombian superstar is ending the year with a bang by receiving six Premio lo Nuestro nominations, tying Tito “El Bambino for the most nominations this year.

Shakira is up for artist of the year, collaboration of the year, female artist of the year – pop, pop album of the year for “Sale el Sol” and two pop song of the year nods for  her hit singles “Rabiosa and Sale el Sol.

Meanwhile, 30-year-old Puerto Rican singer Tito “El Bambino” is up for collaboration of the year, rock/alternative artist of the year, two tropical song of the year nods for “Llama El Sol” and “Llueve el Amor,” as well as male artist of the year – tropical and artist of the year –traditional tropical.

Mexican pop rock band Maná and Dominican-American bachata singer Prince Royce weren’t far behind, receiving five nominations each.

Other artists receiving multiple nominations include Ricky Martin, Alejandra Guzmán, Don Omar, Larry Hernández, Natalia Jiménez and Wisin y
Yandel
with three nods.

Romeo Santos, Daddy Yankee, Gloria Trevi, Gerardo Ortiz, Intocable, Juanes, Joan Sebastian and La Arrolladora Banda el Limón each received three nods.

Wisin y Yandel Prepare to Launch a Fashion Line…

They’ve got some seriously rockin’ style… And now Wisin y Yandel want to share their fashion sense with the world!

The Puerto Rican reggaeton duo—Juan Luis Morera Luna (Wisin) and Llandel Veguilla Malavé Salazar (Yandel)—will be launching their “Los Líderes” line in partnership with Marc Ecko clothing.

“It’s really exciting to be able to express our creativity to our fans in a new way,” said Wisin y Yandel in a press statement. “Marc Ecko is the best at what he does so it’s only natural to collaborate with him for this collection.”

Inspired by Wisin & Yandel’s personal style and high-energy performances, the line will includes denim vests, military jackets, graphic t-shirts, headphones and jewelry and be priced between $30 – $170. While the stylish clothing and accessories won’t be inexpensive, the clothing will be crafted using Marc Ecko’s signature materials.

Wisin Y Yandel—who had one of the night’s best performances at last week’s Latin Grammy Awards—will debut their “Los Líderes” line a special fashion show in Puerto Rico on December 3.

Lovato Singing at the Latin Grammys…

She sang the national anthem for an international audience at this year’s World Series… And, now Demi Lovato is set to perform in front of Latin music superstars.

The Latin Recording Academy has confirmed that the 19-year-old part-Mexican singer/actress will perform at the 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards.

There’s no official word on what song Lovato will sing at this year’s awards show—which will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on November 10—or if she’ll tackle singing in Spanish.

Earlier this year, Lovato performed her hit “Skyscraper” in English and Spanish at the ALMA Awards—even though she doesn’t speak Spanish.

Meanwhile, other confirmed performers include Pablo Alborán; Alex, Jorge Y Lena; Intocable; Los Tigres Del Norte with Paulina Rubio; Black Eyed PeasTaboo; and Wisin Y Yandel.

Hip-hop duo Calle 13 lead the pack of nominees this year with a record-breaking 10 nods, including Album of the Year, Best Urban Music Album for Entren Los Que Quieran, and Song Of The Year for Latinoamérica.”

The Latin Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on Univision at 8:00 pm. ET.

Cuban singing sensation Gloria Estefan is commemorating Hispanic Heritage Month in a big way with the help of Sirius XM Radio…

Now through Saturday, October 15, the “Queen of Latin Pop” will host a series of performances, interviews and specials with some of today’s hottest Latin estrellas like Pitull, Jon Secada and Juanes on Sirius XM’s Caliente, channel 150.

The month’s special programming will include an entire weekend devoted to the 54-year-old bilingual singer/songwriter and her numerous musical contributions. The content will include an exclusive interview with the seven-time Grammy-winning artist, as well as a preview of her new album, “Miss Little Havana.” She’ll even talk about her all-time favorite collaborations, share her thoughts on today’s biggest Latin artists and the artists who contribute to the thriving Latin arts community. The exclusive interview and album preview is slated to air on Friday, September 23 at 4:00 pm ET.

Calle 13 Tops the List of Latin Grammy Noms…

Puerto Rican urban act Calle 13 has scored a perfect 10… Ten Latin Grammy nominations, that is!


During today’s announcement of nominees for this year’s Latin Grammys at a press conference in Los Angeles, Calle 13 dominated the competition. The hip-hop duo, comprised of step brothers Eduardo Cabra and Rene Perez, racked up a record-breaking 10 nominations, including Album of the Year for their most recent album, “Entren Los Que Quieran” and Song of the Year for their single, “Latinoamerica.”

Other multiple-nominees include music producer/engineer Rafa Arcaute, who scored six nods including a shared nominations with Calle 13 in Producer of the Year category; veteran Venezuelan songwriter Franco De Vita, who received  in five categories; Mexican singer/songwriter Marco Antonio Solis, who garnered four nominations, international superstars Ricky Martin and Shakira each received three nods; and Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel, who scored two nominations.

Meanwhile, the Best New Artist category highlights some rising stars from around the Latin music world: Pablo Alborán (Spain), Max Capote (Uruguay/Argentina), Paula Fernandes (Brazil), Il Volo (Italy), and Sie7e (Puerto Rico).
