The deal is pending a physical. Once completed, it will be worth a total of $19 million, according to Fancred.

Ramos, who was acquired by the Philadelphia Phillies from the Tampa Bay Rays at July’s trade deadline, is solid defensively and is a proven commodity offensively with a career .273 batting average and 109 home runs.

The veteran catcher, who made $10.5 million in 2018, batted .306 between the Phillies and Rays last season with 15 home runs and 70 RBIs.

Ramos also has been lauded for his veteran presence in the clubhouse and his ability to handle pitching staffs.

The two-time All-Star spent six-plus seasons with the Washington Nationals (2010-16) after breaking into the majors with the Minnesota Twins in 2010. He won a Silver Slugger award in 2016 after belting 22 homers with 80 RBIs and a .307 batting average with the Nationals.

Eovaldi Agrees to One-Year Deal with the Tampa Bay Rays

Nathan Eovaldi is headed to the Sunshine State…

The 27-year-old Latino free-agent pitcher and the Tampa Bay Rays have reached a one-year, $2 million deal that features a club option for the 2018 season, according to ESPN.

Nathan Eovaldi

Eovaldi is currently recovering from Tommy John surgery and is not expected to pitch in 2017.

Eovaldi had spent the past two seasons with the New York Yankees, before elbow injuries ended his 2016 season in August.

The hard-throwing right-hander needed surgery on his pitching elbow to repair a torn flexor tendon and partially torn ulnar collateral ligament.

Eovaldi isn’t the first player the Rays have signed this offseason undergoing a long recovery from injury.

Tampa Bay also signed free-agent catcher Wilson Ramos, who is recovering from tearing the ACL in his right knee for a second time. Ramos is not expected to play until June.

Eovaldi went 9-8 with a 4.76 ERA in 24 appearances (21 starts) for the Yankees last season.

Ramos to Receive Tony Conigliaro Award

Wilson Ramos has earned a spirited award…

The 27-year-old Venezuelan professional baseball catcher for the Washington Nationals has been awarded the 25th Tony Conigliaro Award.

Wilson Ramos

The honor goes to the player who has demonstrated spirit, determination and courage.

Ramos survived a kidnapping in his home country in 2011. Since then, he has come back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, a broken hamate bone in his left hand and repeated hamstring strains.

Ramos hit .267 with 11 homers and 47 RBIs in 88 games for the Nationals last season.

Members of the Conigliaro family will present the award next Thursday at the 76th Boston Baseball Writers’ Association of America‘s annual dinner.

Past winners include Jim Eisenreich, Dickie Thon, Jim Abbott and Jon Lester.
