Alba: The Best-Dressed Latina at the 2012 Met Ball

It’s no wonder they call it the “Oscars of the East Coast”… The Metropolitan Museum of Art‘s Costume Institute Gala may celebrate the annual opening of the Metropolitan Museum‘s fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute… But it’s also the place to see Hollywood’s brightest stars dressed to impress in some of the season’s hautest gowns.

Hosted by Vogue, this year’s event proved to be another high-style affair, with several Latina starlets stealing the spotlight on the red carpet.

Here’s a look at the night’s best-dressed Latinas:

It was a golden night for Jessica Alba, who will soon begin filming Machete Kills, the sequel to Robert Rodriguez’s 2010 cult classic Machete. The 30-year-old half-Mexican American actress shined brighter than the sun in a gold lame one-shoulder goddess gown from Michael Kors’ Resort 2012 collection.

Much like Alba, Camilla Belle embraced this season’s metallic trend by donning a stunning Ralph Lauren Collection tulle-and-beaded dress in liquid gold. The 25-year-old half-Brazilian American actress accessorized the bold low-cut number with champagne-hued Ralph Lauren Collection sandals, Ralph Lauren Vintage Collection gems and dark red lipstick.

She played a goddess in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief… And during Monday’s Met Ball Rosario Dawson looked like she was back in character. The 39-year-old actress of Puerto Rican and Afro-Cuban descent—who will be portray Dolores Huerta, the co-founder of the UFW in a film about Latino labor leader Cesar Chavez—flaunted her taut figure in a skin-tight black leather Calvin Klein creation, which she accentuated with bright blue earrings.

, who is well on her way to becoming the world’s first billionaire supermodel, looked like a billion dollars on the red carpet. The 31-year-old Brazilian supermodel wore a slit-to-there beaded Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci gown, stylish sandals and jewelry by David Yurman.

There’s nothing blue about Glee star Lea Michele’s navy blue Diane von Furstenberg with a high-slit and plunging neckline. The 25-year-old part-Spanish actress/singer—who was the best-dressed Latina at this year’s SAG Awards—paired her daring sequined gown with a Diane von Furstenberg clutch and Christian Louboutin shoes and a tassel necklace and other diamond jewels by Lorraine Schwartz.

She may be starring as a neglectful mother in the soon-to-be-released film Girl in Progress, but there was nothing negligent about Eva Mendes’ look at the Met Ball. The 38-year-old Cuban-American actress wore a Prada tangerine silk strapless peplum dress with whimsical embroidery. Mendes paired the dress with a Prada clutch and Fred Leighton jewels.

The 39-year-old Cuban American actress wore a snug, long-sleeved Stella McCartney golden gown with dramatic draped back. Diaz paired the dazzling dress with a coordinating gold metal clutch, also by the designer.

Santoro to Reprise Iconic Role in “300” Sequel

He captured the attention of audiences as Persian “god-King” Xerxes in 300… And, now Rodrigo Santoro is set to reprise his creepily iconic and blinged-out role in the  sequel.

Known as the “Brazilian Tom Cruise,” The 36-year-old half-Brazilian actor has signed on to appear opposite Eva Green in the still-untitled 300 sequel from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures.

The film will begin shooting this summer, with Santoro and Green playing the villains this time around.

Santoro next stars opposite Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz in the upcoming comedy What To Expect When You’re Expecting, and he appears opposite Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen in the upcoming HBO feature Hemingway & Gelhorn.

Santoro, who rose to fame in Brazilian telenovelas, previously starred in Love Actually, Che and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

Rodriguez to Star Opposite Paul Walker in New Film?

She recently made her big screen debut in the Sam Worthington-starrer Man on a Ledge… And now Genesis Rodriguez is thisclose to lining up her next major motion picture.

The 24-year-old Venezuelan American actress is currently in talks to star opposite The Fast and the Furious‘ Paul Walker in Hours, a post-Hurricane Katrina indie thriller.

The film centers on a father (Walker) who fights to keep his newborn daughter alive in a New Orleans hospital after Katrina hits the city.

Following Rodriguez’s most recent appearance in Man On A Ledge, the one-time telenovela star will next star in Will Ferrell’s Casa De Mi Padre and the ensemble film featuring Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez What To Expect When You’re Expecting.

Additionally, she just wrapped Lionsgate’s The Last Stand.

She may not have given birth to a child in real life yet, but Cameron Diaz now has a better idea how she’ll look as an expectant mother…

Lionsgate has released the character posters for the 39-year-old Cuban American actress’ latest film What to Expect When You’re Expecting, a comedy about dealing with the challenges of impending parenthood.

Based on a screen adaptation of the bestselling book by Heidi Murkoff, the film follows a group of expectant parents whose lives are all somehow intertwined, no matter how different they all may seem.

Along with Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Anna Kendrick and Brooklyn Decker form part of the all-star ensemble cast.

All of the characters – except Jennifer Lopez’s, who is adopting – are shown in various stages of pregnancy. A quote from the character is also included, and ranges from the sweets (“I can’t wait to meet my baby.”) to the funny (“If I knew I’d have a rack like this, I would have gotten knocked up years ago.” and the desperate  (“I’m calling bull$#!%. Pregnancy sucks.”)

Many of the quotes on the poster are lines heard in the trailer for the film, which co-stars Chace Crawford, Matthew Morrison, Dennis Quaid, Chris Rock, Rodrigo Santoro, Ben Falcone and Joe Manganiello.

What to Expect When You’re Expecting is set for release on May 11.

The 42-year-old Puerto Rican singer/actress and the 39-year-old Cuban-American actress star in the highly anticipated, highly hormonal film, What To Expect When You’re Expecting.

Adapted from the popular self-help book of the same name, the comedy focuses on five couples whose intertwined lives are turned upside down by the challenges of impending parenthood.

After watching the film’s trailer, which just hit the web, there’s no doubt you’ll experience plenty of laughs!

Along with Lopez and Diaz, the movie also stars Anna Kendrick, Brooklyn Decker, Chace Crawford, Dennis Quaid, Rodrigo Santoro, Joe Manganiello, Matthew Morrison, Chris Rock and Megan Mullally.

The movie’s due date: May 11, 2012.
