Muniz to Make a Cameo Appearance on “Don’t Trust the B—-“

Frankie Muniz is about to meet the B—- in Apartment 23

The 26-year-old half-Puerto Rican actor has signed on to appear on the second-season premiere of ABC‘s Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, which stars James Van Der Beek as a heightened version of himself.

Muniz, best known for starring on Fox’s family comedy Malcolm in the Middle, will play himself In the episode, in which TV JVDB (as producers call the onscreen version of James Van Der Beek on the show) will attempt to stage a Dawson’s Creek reunion, enlisting the help of former co-star Busy Philipps — who played Audrey on the former WB coming-of-age drama.

In addition to Muniz, the episode will star Mark-Paul Gosselaar—aka Saved by the Bell‘s Zack Morris—will make a cameo appearance as himself in the episode, which will reunite child stars who fronted their own series.

Apartment 23 returns in its new time slot on Tuesday, October 23 at 9:30 pm ET.

Ortega to Helm an Episode of “Bunheads”

He’s the mastermind behind the iconic choreography in Dirty Dancing… And, he directed High School Musical’s Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens to stardom… And, now Kenny Ortega is preparing to tackle the world of ballet…

The 61-year-old Latin-American director, choreographer and producer has been tapped to direct the third episode of Amy Sherman-Palladino‘s new ABC Family ballet drama Bunheads, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bunheads centers on a Las Vegas showgirl who impulsively marries a man, moves with him to a sleepy coastal town and takes an uneasy role at her mother-in-law’s dance school. Sutton Foster, Kaitlyn Jenkins, Julia Telles, Bailey Buntain and Emma Dumont star in the hour-long drama. Gilmore Girls alum Kelly Bishop guest stars.

Ortega had previously directed several episodes of Sherman-Palladino’s iconic WB series Gilmore Girls.

Production on Bunheads began last week in Los Angeles, with the series set to premiere on Monday, June 11 at 9:00 pm EST.

Meanwhile, Ortega’s episode is slated to air June 25.

García Swisher Headlining CBS Comedy Pilot

Joanna García Swisher may be returning to network television in the near future.

The 32-year-old half-Cuban/half-Spanish American actress has been chosen as the female lead in a yet-to-be-titled CBS comedy pilot from Greg Malins and Greg Berlanti.

The multi-camera project, coming from Warner Bros. TV and studio-based Berlanti Prods., centers on Nick who has a health scare and realizes that Wendy (García Swisher), his best friend and business partner of 15 years, is “the one.” The show will follow him as he tries to figure out how to break it to her.

This marks the third consecutive Warner Bros. TV pilot for García Swisher after her work on Privileged and Better With You, both of which went to series.

In addition, García Swisher had a story arc on the studio’s CW drama Gossip Girl and will be guest-starring on ABC’s hit series Once Upon a Time.

This new project marks the latest multi-camera comedy for García Swisher who started off on the WB’s Reba.
