Yara Martinez’s career is on an uptick…
Amazon has officially given the green light to its pilot The Tick, starring the 37-year-old Puerto Rican actress.
The offbeat and dark superhero tale, which is based on the comic, was ordered to series for premiere exclusively on Prime Video in 2017 in the U.S., UK, Germany, Austria and Japan.
In a world where superheroes have been real for decades, an underdog accountant with zero powers comes to realize his city is owned by a global super villain long-thought dead. As he struggles to uncover this conspiracy, he falls in league with a strange blue superhero.
In addition to Martinez, who starred on The CW’s Jane the Virgin, the pilot starred Peter Serafinowicz, Griffin Newman, Jackie Earle Haley, Valorie Curry and Brendan Hines.
The Tick is directed by Wally Pfister.
The Tick is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television.
