Echeverria Named Neutrogena’s New Spokesperson

Sandra Echeverria is putting her best face forward in her quest to become a household name in the United States.

The 27-year-old Mexican actress/singer has signed on as Neutrogena’s newest brand ambassador.

“It’s an honor to represent a brand like Neutrogena with such a long-standing history of instilling health, confidence and beauty in young women – and that is something I strongly support,” said Echeverria. “I’ve been a huge fan of Neutrogena since I was a teenager. Since I’m always on the go – either on set or on the stage – it always helps keep my skin clean and fresh looking.”

Echeverria, a telenovela superstar who recently starred in Univision’s record-breaking La Fuerza del Destino, will begin appearing in Neutrogena’s advertisements and commercials in the near future as she helps “bring to life [the company’s] 2012 multicultural initiatives,” according to the skin and cosmetics company.

One of today’s leading Latina starlets, she joins Miranda Cosgrove, Jennifer Garner, Vanessa Hudgens and Gabrielle Union as the Neutrogena’s latest brand ambassador.

Echeverria can next be seen in Will Ferrell‘s new film Casa de mi Padre. And, she recently completed shooting Savages, an Oliver Stone film starring John Travolta, Blake Lively and Benicio Del Toro—in which she plays Salma Hayek‘s daughter.

Camacho Launching Segment on El Gordo y la Flaca…

Héctor “Macho” Camacho is preparing to put the gloves back on…

But the 49-year-old Puerto Rican boxer won’t be heading back to the ring. Instead, he’ll throw punches on Univision’s El Gordo y la Flaca.

This week, Camacho will launch a new segment entitled “Macho News.” Airing every Friday, the segment will show the 10-time boxing champion discussing his opinion on the latest show biz happenings from his personal point of view.

“I am very pleased with my new segment,” says Camacho, who recently appeared in Alex Wayne’s video. “With el Gordo y Lily, I know people will enjoy it. For sure!”

Camacho, who participated in Univision’s iMira Quien Baila! Dancing competition in 2010, has said he wants to take full advantage of his life in the spotlight.

Along with segment on El Gordo y la Flaca, Camacho is preparing for other television projects this year, as well as readying to launch his own line of shirts.

Don Francisco Named to TV Hall of Fame…

It’s a momento gigante for legendary Spanish-language television host Don Francisco

The 70-year-old Chilean television icon will be inducted into the Academy of Television Arts & SciencesHall of Fame next March for his extraordinary contributions to television.

Born Mario Luis Kreutzberger Blumenfeld, the Emmy-winning Univision star is best known for hosting Sábado Gigante, one of the most popular programs in the history of Spanish-language television. He’s also the host of Don Francisco Presenta, another variety show that features interviews with big-name artists.

Born in southern Chile, Kreutzberger is the son of German Jewish immigrants who fled to the South American country to escape Nazi persecution. His father hoped he’d follow in his footsteps by working in the garment industry. After working as an apprentice in New York City, Don Francisco returned to Chile and decided to work in broadcasting instead. On August 8, 1962, the show that went on to make television history, Sábado Gigante, was born. It has since been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the “… longest-running TV show in the Americas.”

Kreutzberger has received several honors throughout his career, including the “Gabriela Mistral Order of Merit,” the Chilean government’s highest grade of Grand Officer for his contributions to culture and solidarity in the country. Kreutzberger has also been honored with a
star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2001 and an Emmy in 2005 for being a leader in Spanish-language television.

In his home country, Kreutzberger created the Chilean Telethon which has resulted in the construction of 11 hospitals, where more than 80,000 disabled children are treated. His idea inspired 13 Latin American countries to create their own telethons.

Kreutzberger will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the 21st annual ceremony on March 1 at Los Angeles’ Beverly Hills Hotel.

López Sashays Her Way to the Mira Quién Baila Crown…

Should telenovela superstar Adamari López quit acting one day, she could easily take up ballroom dancing.

During last night’s grand finale of Mira Quién Baila, the 40-year-old Puerto Rican actress took home the crown on Univision’s celebrity dancing competition.

“I think I danced with my heart,” López said.

After coming in ahead of the competition, López’s face was all-aglow during a post-victory interview AOL Latino.

“I would scream again but I screamed earlier and I think there are others doing interviews right now so I can’t scream, but I am so happy and very excited,” the Amigas y Rivales actress. “I am very appreciative of the public of their votes.”

López reportedly received two million votes to clinch the title.

During her interview with AOL Latino, the breast cancer survivor talked about her selected charity, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a foundation that fights against breast cancer. The organization will receive López’ grand prize earnings.

López danced her way past singer Priscila Angel and Puerto Rican actor Erik Estrada, who placed third place.

Bailon’s High-Octane Dance on “Mira quién baila”

There’s no denying Adrienne Bailon knows how to shake her groove thing…or that she could easily be a contestant on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.

The former Cheetah Girl strutted her stuff during a high-energy performance on Univision’s Mira quién baila—a dance competition similar to Dancing with the Stars.

The 28-year-old half Puerto Rican/half Ecuadorian singer/actress/dancer may not have belted out a song, but she definitely shook her bon bon during her appearance. Backed by a crew of male dancers, the former star of Disney’s The Cheetah Girls movies—dressed in a black leather jumpsuit and rhinestone-covered harness—descended from a swing before bustin’ a move on the dance floor.

After her performance, the former member of the girl group 3LW talked about her  career with the show’s hosts, including being discovered by Ricky Martin.

Bailon, who appears in Pitbull’s “Give Me Everything” video, says she’s a huge fan of the show. But she remain tight-lipped about who she’s hoping wins the title.

Contestants still in the hunt are Puerto Rican telenovela star Adamari Lopez, Puerto Rican American actor Erik Estrada and Mexican-American actress/model Elizabeth Gutiérrez.

Lovato Singing at the Latin Grammys…

She sang the national anthem for an international audience at this year’s World Series… And, now Demi Lovato is set to perform in front of Latin music superstars.

The Latin Recording Academy has confirmed that the 19-year-old part-Mexican singer/actress will perform at the 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards.

There’s no official word on what song Lovato will sing at this year’s awards show—which will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on November 10—or if she’ll tackle singing in Spanish.

Earlier this year, Lovato performed her hit “Skyscraper” in English and Spanish at the ALMA Awards—even though she doesn’t speak Spanish.

Meanwhile, other confirmed performers include Pablo Alborán; Alex, Jorge Y Lena; Intocable; Los Tigres Del Norte with Paulina Rubio; Black Eyed PeasTaboo; and Wisin Y Yandel.

Hip-hop duo Calle 13 lead the pack of nominees this year with a record-breaking 10 nods, including Album of the Year, Best Urban Music Album for Entren Los Que Quieran, and Song Of The Year for Latinoamérica.”

The Latin Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on Univision at 8:00 pm. ET.

“Q’VIVA!” Lopez’s Globetrotting Talent Show…

It’s “the biggest thing” she’s been involved with yet… And, Jennifer Lopez’s Latin talent competition show with Marc Anthony is only getting bigger…

Described as an effort “to create the ultimate live show celebrating Latin music, artistry and dance,” “¡Q’VIVA! THE CHOSEN” is scheduled to air in 21 countries in North America, Central America and South America.

The show, which will be filmed in English, Spanish and Portuguese, is being produced in partnership with “American Idol creator and XIX Entertainment CEO and founder Simon Fuller.

“Very soon the world’s heart will beat to the tune of Latin rhythms and we’re looking forward to experiencing history in the making,” said Anthony and Lopez in a joint statement. “It is with great pride that we embark on this amazing and very personal mission to discover and celebrate the most captivating talent the world has ever seen.”

In the United States, Univision will broadcast one-hour weekly episodes of “¡Q’VIVA!” in Spanish. The show’s English language partner is expected to be announced soon.

Meanwhile, Televisa and Caracol TV will air the Spanish version of the Latin talent series Mexico and Colombia, respectively.

“We are bringing together all the most powerful brands and networks throughout the Americas to broadcast ‘¡Q’VIVA! THE CHOSEN’ in a unique collaboration where each country will programme the show simultaneously,” says Fuller. It will be a powerful statement confirming the growing importance of Latin culture.”

“Q’VIVA!” could his the airwaves as early as the first quarter of 2012.

Calle 13 Tops the List of Latin Grammy Noms…

Puerto Rican urban act Calle 13 has scored a perfect 10… Ten Latin Grammy nominations, that is!


During today’s announcement of nominees for this year’s Latin Grammys at a press conference in Los Angeles, Calle 13 dominated the competition. The hip-hop duo, comprised of step brothers Eduardo Cabra and Rene Perez, racked up a record-breaking 10 nominations, including Album of the Year for their most recent album, “Entren Los Que Quieran” and Song of the Year for their single, “Latinoamerica.”

Other multiple-nominees include music producer/engineer Rafa Arcaute, who scored six nods including a shared nominations with Calle 13 in Producer of the Year category; veteran Venezuelan songwriter Franco De Vita, who received  in five categories; Mexican singer/songwriter Marco Antonio Solis, who garnered four nominations, international superstars Ricky Martin and Shakira each received three nods; and Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel, who scored two nominations.

Meanwhile, the Best New Artist category highlights some rising stars from around the Latin music world: Pablo Alborán (Spain), Max Capote (Uruguay/Argentina), Paula Fernandes (Brazil), Il Volo (Italy), and Sie7e (Puerto Rico).
