Mauricio Ochmann Signs with United Talent Agency (UTA)

Mauricio Ochmann has new representation…

The 42-year-old Mexican American actor and telenovela star has signed with United Talent Agency (UTA) for representation in all areas.

Ochmann’s credits include El Señor de los Cielos and its spinoff El Chema, the latter being the highest rated television show in Telemundo history. 

His feature film credits include Hazlo Como Hombreand Ya Veremos, both of which have been hits in Mexico, grossing around $10 million each. 

His next U.S. release will be Y Como Es El, a two hander with Omar Chaparroreleasing in April via Pantelion/Lionsgate.

The actor is currently shooting in Mexico on Salvador Espinosa’s Netflixoriginal Ahi Te Encargo.

Alongside acting work, Ochmann is moving into directing, having helmed English language short Diaz. He’s now developing his feature debut.

Ochmann and his wife Aislinn Derbez, also an actor, run their production company A Toda Madre Entertainment, which has several features in development, including one with Sony Pictures.

Elyfer Torres Signs with United Talent Agency

Elyfer Torres has new representation…

The 22-year-old Mexican actress, who rose to acclaim as the breakout star of Telemundo’s Ugly Bettyre-make Betty EnNY, has signed with Ryan Muckenthaler and Ali Benmohamed at United Talent Agency (UTA) for representation in all areas.

Torres was also recently named Best New Actress at the Produ Awards at Mipcom Mexico. She’s close to wrapping her second television series, Enemigo Intimo, for Spanish language powerhouse Telemundo Global Studios.

The actress is relocating to Los Angeles in January 2020 to pursue English language film and television opportunities.

Torres also recently signed with Los Angeles and London based management/production company Avatar Entertainment, where she will be repped by Val Valdez and Larry Robinson.

Rounding out her team, Torres has also recently signed with lawyer Maria Suarezat Hanson Jacobson & Teller.

Manager Val Valdez says, “[Torres] is probably the hottest Latino star under the age on 25 years old and her talent is only exceeded by her tireless work ethic.”

Benjamín Naishtat Signs with United Talent Agency (UTA)

Benjamín Naishtat is going global…

The 32-year-old Argentinian writer and director has signed with United Talent Agency (UTA) in all areas.

Born in Buenos Aires, Naishtat is best known for creating experimental and fictional shorts centered on historical and societal complexities. He has made a name for himself on the global film circuit: His first feature, History of Fear played at the Berlin Film Festival, and it won the Best Film Award at the Jeonju International Film Festival.

Additionally, he wrote and directed The Movement, which participated in the Cineasti del Presente section of the Locarno Film Festival.

His most recent film Rojo made its world premiere earlier this year at the Toronto International Film Festival in the Platform section; it t was also an official selection at the San Sebastián Film Festival where it won the Silver Shell for Best Director.

Justina Machado has new representation…

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican actress, who stars on Netflix’s rebooted Norman Lear series One Day at a Time, has signed with United Talent Agency (UTA).

Machado, who scored a SAG Award in 2004 as part of the ensemble cast of HBO’s Six Feet Under, has appeared on Season 4 of CW’s Jane the Virgin and USA Network’s Queen of the South, and she voices Carmen on Disney Junior’s Elena of Avalor.

Her big-screen credits include The Purge: Anarchy and The Accidental Husband. On the stage, she made her Broadwaydebut in In the Heights and also appeared in A Free Man of Color.

On One Day at a Time, which follows three generations of a Cuban-American family, Machado stars as Penelope Alvarez, a single mom and military veteran raising two strong-willed, mega-millennial children, all the while enlisting the “help” of her old-school mother and her building manager-turned-confidante. Rita Moreno, Todd GrinnellStephen ToblowskyIsabella Gomezand Marcel Ruiz co-star.

The series from Lear and Sony Television is underway on shooting its third season, which will air in 2019.

She had been with APA and continues to be repped by D2 Management.

Villafañe Signs with United Talent Agency

Ana Villafañe has new representation…

The Cuban-American singer, dancer and actress has signed with United Talent Agency (UTA).

Villafañe currently stars as a series regular on Hulu’s hit series South Beach.

On the film side, she’ll next be seen in Max Steel, opposite Maria Bello and Andy Garcia.

She also portrays singer Gloria Estefan, opposite Josh Segarra in On Your Feet! The Story Of Emilio & Gloria Estefan, a new musical about the powerhouse pop singer and her producer husband (and the Miami Sound Machine) that earned excellent reviews earlier this summer in its Broadway tryout in Chicago. The show, with book by Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman Or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) is staged by Jerry Mitchell (direction) and Sergio Trujillo (choreography).

Villafañe, who attended the same Miami high school as Gloria Estefan, won the role through a filmed audition when she could not make the Miami call.

The show begins previews October 5 at the Marquis Theatre and is slated to open on November 5.

Carey Signs with United Talent Agency (UTA)

Mariah Carey has new representation…

The 45-year-old half-Venezuelan American singer has signed with United Talent Agency (UTA) in all areas, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

UTA will represent the Grammy winner across all areas, including music, touring, film, television, digital, licensing and endorsements. Carey is currently maintaining a Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, where #1 to Infinity began this May and will run beyond next February.

In December she’ll return to New York City for a series of Christmas concerts before embarking on a European tour in the spring, which UTA will put together. It will be her first tour in that continent in 13 years.

“Mariah is one of the greatest artists of this or any generation,” UTA chairman Jim Berkus said in a statement. “She is a true multi-talent, and we’re thrilled to help her continue to push every creative boundary.”

Carey has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide and won five Grammy Awards, starting with best new artist and best pop vocal performance, female in 1990. The latter was for her breakout single “Vision of Love,” and through 2008’s “Touch My Body,” the legendary songstress has had 18 singles hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, more than any solo artist ever.

In the fall, Carey is slated to direct a TV movie for Hallmark. As an actress, her screen credits include Precious and Lee Daniels’ The Butler.

Considered one of Hollywood’s rising Latina talents, the Guatemalan-American actress—the daughter of singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona—has signed with United Talent Agency (UTA), one of the entertainment industry’s premier talent and literary agencies.

Arjona, who appeared on television’s Person of Interest, recently wrapped the Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer Untitled Miami Project for Warner Bros./TNT opposite Matt Barr and Óscar Jaenada.

She recently landed a recurring role in the second season of HBO’s True Detective.

Her other credits include Narcos and Unforgettable.

Warner Bros. to Release Rodriguez’s “Magic Mike 2” Next July

Warner Bros. has announced plans to release Magic Mike 2, starring the 39-year-old Puerto Rican/Cuban-American actor and Channing Tatum, two days earlier than originally planned.

The sequel to the male-stripper drama has been moved from July 3 to July 1, 2015

The original movie starring Rodriguez, Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer and others made $113.7M at the domestic box office — one of director Steven Soderbergh’s most lucrative movies ever — and has since spawned a Broadway musical now in the works.

Rodriguez, who recently signed with United Talent Agency, is set to reprise his role as male stripper Tito.

The 39-year-old Puerto Rican/Cuban-American actor has signed with global talent and literary agency United Talent Agency (UTA).

After starring as Det. Eric Delko for all 10 seasons of CBS’ police procedural CSI: Miami, Rodriguez can currently be seen in the network’s summer legal drama Reckless.

His feature credits include Tyler Perry‘s I Can Do Bad All by MyselfMagic Mike and the About Last Nightremake earlier this year.

In September, Rodriguez will join fellow UTA client Channing Tatum in shooting the sequel to Magic Mike, where he’ll reprise his role as the exotic dancer Tito.

Rodriguez, who signed a development deal for unscripted projects with Bunim/Murray ProductionsBMP Latin earlier this year, continues to be repped by A Management Company.

Mendez Signs with the United Talent Agency

Tony Mendez is a Hollywood darling…

The 72-year-old retired CIA officer, the man played by Ben Affleck in Argo who orchestrated the plan to smuggle six diplomatic workers out of Iran, has signed on with the United Talent Agency.

Mendez – who earned a Scripter Award for Argo, an award given to the screenwriters and the author of the material on which the script is based – has written three memoirs about his CIA experiences. His Master of Disguise: My Secret Life in the CIA was one of two sources for the film’s screenplay.

UTA will represent Mendez and his wife Joanna, also a former CIA agent, in film, television and all other media.

Mendez’s Argo experience was a well-kept secret until it was declassified, and the CIA power couple had other undercover adventures.

UTA will be working closely with the couple’s publishing agent and producing partner to represent them as well as the declassified stories from their careers.

Mendez’s Master Of Disguise was the first-ever memoir from a top operative to be authorized by the CIA.

The couple also wrote Spy Dust, a true-life thriller that talks about how they fell in love and got married during the last chapter of the Cold War.

The Mendez’s, who helped advise the development of the International Spy Museum in Washington DC, continue to train and consult to the agency community.
