Daniel Ribeiro’s “Perfect Endings” Sold to Distributors in North America and Several European Territories

The 42-year-old Brazilian film director’s romantic comedy Perfect Endings has sold to distributors in North America and several territories in Europe.

Daniel Ribeiro, Perfect Endings follows João, played by Artur Volpi, an aspiring filmmaker, who is thrown into the dating world after breaking up with his boyfriend of 10 years. At a crossroads in both his personal and professional life, he ends up directing amateur erotic films, while finding his way through the confusion of modern romance. 

Dark Star Pictures and Uncork’d Entertainment have nabbed the rights for North America, where Perfect Endings will have its international premiere at Frameline on June 27.

This marks a second recent collaboration between M-Appeal and Dark Star Pictures, which bought Marcelo Caetano‘s Cannes Critics’ Week title Baby, also represented by the agency.

Cinemien will distribute the film across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Poland, Italy and Portugal.

Ribeiro previously won the Berlinale’s Teddy Award, given to the best film with a queer theme in the festival, with The Way He Looks.

Uncork’ed Entertainment Acquires Danny Trejo’s “The Curse Of Wolf Mountain” for U.S. Digital & DVD Release

The action-horror film The Curse Of Wolf Mountain, featuring the 78-year-old Mexican American actor and Tobin Bell in the cast, has been acquired by Uncork’d Entertainment for a U.S. digital and DVD release in May.

Danny TrejoKeli Price wrote and stars in the horror film while David Lipper, who also features in the cast, directs.

Price plays a man who starts to have vivid dreams about his parents’ death and decides to return to the remote mountain spot where they were killed, with his brother and his brother’s family.

Further cast members include Eddie McClintock and Fernanda Romero, alongside Trejo and Bell.

Working under the banner of Latigo Films, Lipper also recently took writing and producing credits on the action thriller Hunt Club, starring Mickey Rourke and Mena Suvari, which Uncork’d Entertainment also acquired.

“It’s great to be back in business again with producer, actor and filmmaker David Lipper following the successful release of Hunt Club. While very different from the latter, The Curse Of Wolf Mountain is no less as thrilling and star-studded,” said Uncork’d Entertainment President Keith Leopard.

Robert LaSardo’s Exorcism Thriller “Of The Devil” Acquired for Release by Uncork’d Entertainment

Uncork’d Entertainment has acquired the rights to Kelton Jones’ Of The Devil, featuring the 58-year-old Latino American character actor.

Robert LaSardoThe exorcism film, which is set for release in August, was penned and directed by Kelton Jones.

It’s based on a story by James Cullen Bressack, and features a cast including Vernon Wells, Devanny Pinn, Eileen Dietz and LaSardo.

The film follows a family desperate to find a cure for their young son’s brain cancer. When unconventional treatments lead to the child being possessed by an ancient evil, the parents must fight not only for the child’s life but also his soul.

The deal was negotiated by Uncork’d’s Keith Leopard and executive producer James Cullen Bressack.

“Fans of The Exorcist will eat up this frighteningly fun possession thriller from Kelton Jones – it sent shivers up my spine!” said Keith Leopard, President of Uncork’d Entertainment.

Dietz played the demon in horror classic The Exorcist.

Uncork’d Entertainment Acquires Distribution Rights to Trejo’s “The Burning Dead”

It’s official… Danny Trejo will have American audiences feeling the burn next year.

Uncork’d Entertainment has acquired the North America distribution rights to the 70-year-old Mexican American actor’s zombie thriller The Burning Dead, co-starring Tom Downey.

Directed by Rene Perez, the film centers on a sheriff who must rescue an estranged family from a mountain during a volcano eruption and fight off a horde of lava-filled zombies brought to life by a curse.

Jeff Miller and Jason Ancona wrote and produced the film, which also stars Moniqua Plante (Nashville) and Robert F. Lyons (Death Wish II, Murphy’s Law).

Uncork’d will release the film in early 2015.
