MTV Renews Posey’s “Teen Wolf” for a Sixth Season

Tyler Posey lives to howl another day…

MTV has renewed Teen Wolf, starring the 23-year-old half-Mexican American actor, for a sixth season.

Tyler Posey

During the show’s Comic Con panel, series creator Jeff Davis was visibly elated by the show’s success, telling the crowd of dedicated fans that “as long as you keep watching, we’ll probably get to keep making it. So thank you.”

Loosley based on the 1985 film starring Michael J. Fox, Teen Wolf debuted on MTV in 2011 and since then has been a ratings success for the network.

During the panel, Davis claimed that the popularity of the show on platforms beyond initial television broadcasts dramatically increase viewership numbers beyond standard ratings, in some cases as high as 8 million viewers for some episodes.

The show’s fifth season began June 29.

Trailer Released for Upcoming Season of Posey’s “Teen Wolf”

Things are about to get a little loco for Tyler Posey

MTV aired the first official promo for the supernatural drama’s upcoming fifth season, starring 23-year-old half-Mexican-American actor, during Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards.

Tyler Posey

If the minute-long clip is any indication, it appears that this just might be the craziest season yet.

The promo offers a first look at the entire pack — Scott, Stiles, Lydia, Malia and Liam — bracing for the arrival of a heinous new enemy, one that appears to have an affinity for torture.

“It’s very much about our teenagers becoming adults and heading into their senior year,” executive producer Jeff Davis recently told TVLine about Season 5. “But as always, we bring in some new mysteries and new monsters. I think this season is very much about the line between science and supernatural.”

Teen Wolf‘s fifth season will consist of 20 episodes, nearly double that of Season 4.

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican actress, who won her first-ever Golden Globe winner last month for her performance on Jane the Virgin, will make an appearance at this year’s PaleyFest, sponsored by the Paley Center for Media.

Gomez to Receive Ultimate Choice Honors at Teen Choice Awards

There’s no denying Selena Gomez is the ultimate entertainer, making her mark on the music charts, television and film. And now she’ll have a special prize to prove it.

The 22-year-old half-Mexican American actress will receive the  Ultimate Choice Award this Sunday during the 2014 Teen Choice Awards, according to E! News.

Selena Gomez

Gomez, a 10-time Teen Choice Award winner, is being recognized for being a multi-hyphenate performer, as a star on the charts and on the big and small screen.

Gomez has won at least one TCA prize every year since 2009, when she picked up three awards. This year she’s up for Choice Female Hottie and Choice Smile.

The “Come & Get It” singer joins an A-list roster of entertainers who previously received the honor, including Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Ashton Kutcher, Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Mike Myers.

Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey will host the big show, which airs on Sunday, Aug. 10, at 8:00 pm ET on Fox.

MTV Renews Posey’s “Teen Wolf” for Super-Sized Fifth Season

Tyler Posey is still the wolf of MTV

The cable network has renewed its hit series Teen Wolf, starring the 22-year-old half-Mexican actor, for a fifth season.

Tyler Posey

The upcoming 20-episode season will be split in two parts, similar to the way the supernatural high-school series aired in Season 3, which also was super-sized (24 episodes).

Seasons 1, 2 and 4 each have consisted of 12 episodes running continuously.

Based on the Michael J. Fox-starring MGM movie, Teen Wolf was developed by Jeff Davis. The show has become a hit online, where fan tweets about it routinely put it in the Weekly Top 10 of Nielsen’s Twitter TV ratings, one of only two or three scripted shows to grab one of those spots regularly.

Posey stars as Scott McCall, the title teen werewolf character.

Posey to Host This Year’s Teen Choice Awards

Tyler Posey is the host with the most…

The 22-year-old half-Mexican actor and star of MTV’s Teen Wolf has been named as the host of this year’s Teen Choice Awards by Fox.

Tyler Posey

Posey is familiar with the Teen Choice Awards. In 2012, he took home one of the award show’s trademark surfboards in the Choice Male Summer TV Star category, while Teen Wolf won Choice Summer TV Show.

Last year, the series received a Teen Choice Award for Choice Summer TV Show, and Posey received the award for Choice Male Summer TV Star, as well as an ALMA Award for Favorite TV Actor.

Most recently, he was named one of Variety‘s Power of Youth honorees. He received the award earlier this year in recognition of the work he has done with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Last year, Posey appeared on the big screen in Scary Movie 5. He also starred in the indie film White Frog and in the upcoming feature comedy Taco Shop, scheduled for release in 2015.

Previously announced stars scheduled to appear are Jake T. Austin, Bella Thorne, Lucy Hale, Jamie Blackley, Ian Harding, Kellan Lutz, Cody Simpson, Hailee Steinfeld, Gregg Sulkin and Zendaya.

The annual event will air live on Sunday, August 10 at 8:00 pm ET.

Voting for this year’s awards is currently open, and fans ages 13 to 19 can vote once each day per category at teenchoiceawards.com through Saturday, Aug. 9.
