WBA Strawweight Champion Seniesa Estrada to Fight Anabel Ortiz in Rematch

Seniesa Estrada is returning to the ring…

After months out of the ring waiting for a fight, the 29-year-old Mexican American boxer and WBA strawweight champion will take on 35-year-old Mexican professional boxer Anabel Ortiz on August 6.

Seniesa EstradaEstrada announced her return on Twitter and will be on the undercard of the Vergil Ortiz Jr.-Michael McKinson fight in Texas.

The fight against Ortiz will be a rematch of her fight on March 20, 2021, when she won the strawweight title in a unanimous decision win over Ortiz in which she knocked the former champion down in the first round and dominated the fight.

Estrada (22-0, 9 KO), ESPN‘s No. 6 pound-for-pound fighter in the world, last fought in December, when she knocked out Maria Micheo Santizo in the fourth round.

This will be Estrada’s second defense of her title.

Ortiz (31-5, 4 KO) has lost her past two fights — by unanimous decision to Estrada, where she lost her title, and then last December to Marlen Esparza in a fight for the WBC flyweight title.

Before her loss to Estrada, Ortiz had a 21-fight win streak dating back to 2012, when she was defeated by Yesica Yolanda Bopp. Four of Ortiz’s five career losses came in world title fights.

Sky Ferreira Signs New Global Publishing Administration Agreement with Third Side Music

Sky Ferreira is (third) siding with a new company…

The 29-year-old part-Brazilian American singer/songwriter has agreed to a new global publishing administration agreement with Third Side Music.

Sky Ferreira

While her fans have eagerly awaited her next album since the release of the critically acclaimed debut Night Time, My Time for more than nine years, the new Third Side agreement signals Ferreira’s next chapter is on its way.

Previously, Ferreira released music under an administrative agreement with Kobalt, but now, under her new deal with Third Side, she will receive a more hands-on approach while maintaining the administrative focus she’s accustomed to, including A&R and creative aid from the company’s vice president creative/director of A&R, Brontë Jane, who calls Ferreira an “unparalleled career artist” and “a true visionary with her craft.”

Third Side Music is a lean independent firm, focused on signing just a handful of talents and offering hyper-personalized service, often unavailable at larger institutions, and Ferreira will be joining other writers like SOFI TUKKER, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Blonde Redhead, Colin Stetson, and BADBADNOTGOOD on Jane’s Third Side roster.

Since inking a label deal at Capitol Records at 16, Ferreira has expressed her distrust of the music industry and of her label on multiple occasions: “every contract I have ever signed has always been set up to take advantage of me/my work in some way,” she explained in an Instagram story back in 2019. Though she remains in her deal with Capitol on the recorded side, Ferreira’s signing to Third Side act as a hopeful clean slate on the publishing front ahead of her highly anticipated next chapter.

Still, little is known about Ferreira’s music to come. With only two new songs released since her nearly decade-old debut album — a song for the Promising Young Woman soundtrack and a collaboration with Charli XCX, both released in 2019 — her sound as of 2022 is anyone’s guess.

So far, the announcement of the Third Side deal and her March 31 YouTube teaser captioned “remember me?” are the clearest indications of Ferreira’s next moves, but already, fans and fellow musicians are flocking to social media to show their love and support. “fangirl moment: v excited for new Sky,” writes Charli XCX on her Twitter. Grimes also shared her support to Ferreira, leaving the Instagram comment, “This is about to be a smash I can feel it.”

Cardi B Teams Up with Kay Flock, Dougie B & Bory300 on New Single “Shake It”

Cardi B is shaking it up…

The 29-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning rap superstar has joined voices with Kay Flock, Dougie B and Bory300 on the just-released hip-hop banger “Shake It,” with an accompanying music video.

Cardi B

Cardi B made her triumphant return to Twitter and Instagram on Thursday to tease the track ahead of its release, writing, “SHAKE IT MUSIC VIDEO OUT AT MIDNIGHT …..GO GEEK!”

Flock began promoting the new tune last month, sharing a sneak peak from the music video via Instagram on March 30 with the caption: “We Bout to Shake It Up … Thank you @iamcardib Coming Soon! My Hearttttt.”

The drill rap collaboration comes just three weeks after Cardi B appeared on the extended remix of Summer Walker and SZA’s hit track “No Love.”

Cardi B’s latest collaborator, Flock, was named Billboard’s R&B and Hip-Hop Rookie of the Month back in November.

At the time, he spoke about his plans to help push drill music forward. “I just gotta keep going, you feel me?” Flock told Billboard. “And [with] other artists that are trying to come up through drill, just help them out too. Just gotta keep putting people on. I don’t know, to me, it don’t really mean nothing that I’m in the industry or whatever. That sh– don’t mean nothing to me. I’m still the same dude. If I could get a million [dollars] or better, my people can too. They most definitely could.”

Cardi B Makes Recording Industry Association of America History with “Invasion of Privacy” Album

Cardi B has earned a spot in RIAA’s history books…

The 29-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning rap superstar’s debut album, 2018’s Invasion of Privacy, has officially made Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) history once again.

Cardi BAll 13 songs on the album are now certified platinum or higher by the RIAA, making Cardi B the first female to achieve the feat.

The accomplishment further extends her initial record as the first female artist to have every track on an album RIAA certified Gold.

Her major-label debut LP with Atlantic Records is the gift that keeps on giving for Cardi, earning her a Billboard 200 No. 1, a 2019 Grammy for best rap album, a diamond-certified single “Bodak Yellow” and  two Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles (“Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It” with Bad Bunny and J Balvin), among other milestones for the rapper.

Invasion of Privacy was the top female rap album of the 2010s, according to the Billboard 200 Decade-End chart.

Cardi charted 13 songs (12 from the album, minus “Bodak Yellow” after its three-week stint at the top) on the Hot 100, allowing her to pass Beyoncé for the most simultaneous titles on the ranking by a solo female.

In April 2021, Cardi B celebrated the three-year anniversary of Invasion of Privacy with a sweet message on Twitter.

“Thank you everyone that’s been showing IOP love today .It feels like a birthday lols,” she tweeted. “I get real sweet and bittersweet memories when I listen to the album, I faced many challenges thru the process and after but the outcome was beautiful and successful. Love you forever.”

Camila Cabello

“2 facts: it’s my birthday and this album is my whole f–king heart,” Cabello wrote on Twitter and Instagram, with a photo of the album’s cover art attached — an intimate snap of her in a sequined black dress with a multicolored ruffled skirt, holding a smiling young girl in her arms. “FAMILIA. Out April 8.”

In addition to the cover art, the singer shared a link for fans and followers to pre-save the album on Spotify and Apple Music.

The news of Familia‘s release date comes after the three-time Grammy nominee started teasing the release of her forthcoming single, “Bam Bam” featuring Ed Sheeran, via TikTok and Instagram.

The single is preceded by “La Buena Vida,” “Don’t Go Yet” and “Oh Na Na” with Myke Towers and Tainy, though it is unclear if the collaboration is part of the album.

Speaking with Billboard News in November about the forthcoming album release, Cabello said Familia “means community, I guess the opposite of you on your own.” She continued, “It’s more you with other people land sharing in that joy and success, whatever that means. Interdependence realizing how important everybody is in your life. A lot of it is inspired by my relationships: My relationships to my family, my relationship to my friends, my relationship to my partner … it’s all about connections with other people, hence, Familia.”
