Bardo Martinez has cosmic representation…

The Latino member of the Los Angeles-based psychedelic rock band Chicano Batman has signed a management deal with Cosmica Artists.

“Reaching our 20 year anniversary at Cosmica Artists is such a proud moment for me as I started this as a one person company, stuffing manilla envelopes with burned promo CDs, xeroxed bios and EPK’s,” Gil Gastelum, founder of Cosmica, tells Variety. “Our new signings usher in a new chapter for Cosmica Artists, as we begin to navigate the future with confidence and pride. Looking at distribution, marketing, publishing, sync, and touring partners future and present has us all ready for the next 20 years.”

Martinez will be represented by Cosmica as he focuses on a solo career — a new LP, Stones Throw Records, slated for release in 2025 — outside of his role as the lead songwriter and vocalist for Chicano Batman.

The rock band formed in 2008 with a fresh take on tropicália and indie-rock that led to five studio albums.

In recent weeks, the group announced they were going on an “indefinite hiatus.”

Los Tigres del Norte to Co-Headline First-Ever Bésame Mucho Festival at LA’s Dodger Stadium

Los Tigres del Norte are puckering up…

The legendary Mexican norteño band will co-headline the first-ever edition of Bésame Mucho, taking place on Saturday, December 3 at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium.

Los Tigres del NorteLos Tigres del Norte will headline alongside Julieta Venegas, Café Tacvba, Zoé, Sin Bandera, Juanes and Banda El Recodo, among many other Latin acts who will perform.

The festival featured a head-turning, multigenerational lineup, featuring pop, Regional Mexican, merengue, cumbia and rock artists.

According to the Need Pastel-designed flyer, the Tropicália and La Tocada-organized event will be a one-day festival with three separate stages: Rockero stage, Las Clásicas stage and Te Gusta El Pop? stage.

The fest will also feature sets by Bronco, Banda Machos, Caifanes, Enanitos Verdes, Panteón Rococó, Los Ángeles Azules, Sonora Dinamita, Kabah, Fey and Aleks Syntek with additional headliners to be announced later this year.

Giving When We Were Young vibes featuring a packed lineup, the logistics of how the festival will pan out throughout the day are yet to be outlined by its producers.

But just hours after the event was announced, Latin music fans took to social media to comment on the nostalgia-provoking lineup while also confirming their attendance to a festival that’s 10 months away.

“I’m there,” someone tweeted. “The lineup is absolutely insane,” another Twitter user wrote.

Tickets for the Bésame Mucho festival will go on sale Friday, February 18 at 5:00 pm ET. General admission tickets will start at $199.99 with VIP tickets starting at $324.99.

Veloso Named Latin Recording Academy’s Person of the Year

He’s considered one of the greatest songwriters of the century… And, now Caetano Veloso will be able to call himself the person of the year…

Following in Shakira’s footsteps, the 69-year-old award-winning Brazilian musician will be honored as the 2012 Person of the Year by the Latin Recording Academy .

The academy will pay tribute to Veloso at a special event in Las Vegas on November 14. The ceremony will feature various artists performing Veloso’s songs.

Part of the funds collected that night will go to Veloso’s charity of choice, the Viva Cazuza Foundation, which is devoted to the prevention and treatment of HIV in children and youths. The rest of the money received will be invested in aid and education programs sponsored by the Latin Recording Academy.

“Caetano Veloso has become the preeminent ambassador of Brazilian music and culture,” Gabriel Abaroa Jr., the President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy, said.

“It is difficult to find a man with such immense talent, passion and dedication to his creative projects – whether in music, writing or activism,” Abaroa said. “By celebrating Caetano, we celebrate Brazil, and we look forward to honoring his amazing career and music.”

Veloso, who has won eight Latin Grammy Awards and two Grammy Awards, rose to acclaim after his participation in the Tropicalia movement, which represented a new generation of artists that openly expressed their political opinions and refashioned the face of Brazilian popular music.

During his career, Veloso has recorded more than 40 albums, published five books, directed a film and won numerous awards.
