Farruko Earns First No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart with “Pepas”

Farruko is celebrating a dancetastic first…

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican singer and songwriter has completed a flight to his first No. 1 on Billboard‘s multi-metric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated August 21) with “Pepas.”

The song hits the top with 9.7 million U.S. streams, up 33%; 7.2 million radio airplay audience impressions, up 11%; and 2,500 downloads sold, up 25%, in the tracking week ending August 12, according to MRC Data.

“Pepas” leads the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart for a third frame and Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales for the first time, also marking Farruko’s first leader on both lists.

The track by Farruko improves 6-3 on the Hot Latin Songs list. Helping spark its gains, its official video premiered August 6.

“Pepas” is the fourth song to hit No. 1 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs this year, following Surf Mesa‘s “ily,” featuring Emilee (Jan. 2-Feb. 6; six weeks); Travis Scott and HVME‘s “Goosebumps” (Feb. 13-June 19, 19 weeks); and Regard, Troye Sivan and Tate McRae‘s “You” (June 26-August 14, eight weeks).

Previously, Farruko charted on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with “On My Way,” with Alan Walker and Sabrina Carpenter (No. 8, 2019), and “Aire,” with Steve Aoki (No. 36, this July).

Kid Cudi Earns Third No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart with “Man on the Moon III: The Chosen”

Kid Cudi has another smash on his hands…

The 36-year-old part-Mexican American rapper/singer has earned his third No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as Man on the Moon III: The Chosen debuts at the top of the chart dated December 26.

The set, released through Republic Records on December 11, earned 144,000 equivalent album units in the week ending December 17, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Prior to the Man on the Moon III landing, Kid Cudi previously reigned with the set’s previous installment, 2010’s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager and 2013’s Indicud, both of which debuted in the top slot and reigned for one week.

Beyond the two leaders, Kid Cudi’s three other projects all reached the top five: 2009’s Man on the Moon: The End of Day (No. 5), 2014’s Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon (No. 2) and Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ (No. 5, 2017).

In addition, the act Kids See Ghosts, a duo comprising Kid Cudi and Kanye West, also claimed a No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with their eponymous LP in 2018.

Man on the Moon III: The Chosen likewise debuts at No. 1 on the Top Rap Albums chart and at No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard 200, behind Taylor Swift’s Evermore.

As Man on the Moon III arrives, 18 of its tracks dot the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, led by the top 10 arrivals “Tequila Shots” (No. 7) and “She Knows This” (No. 9). The pair produce Kid Cudi’s third and fourth top 10s, following his 2009 breakthrough “Day and Night” (No. 5) and this year’s “The Scotts,” billed to The Scotts, Travis Scott, and Kid Cudi, which debuted at No. 1 in May and held for one week.

With 18 simultaneous placements, Kid Cudi becomes the fifth artist to post at least that many entries on the chart in a single week. His company includes Drake, who has claimed 10 separate weeks with 18-plus entries, Lil Uzi Vert and The Weeknd, each with two such weeks, and Lil Wayne and Pop Smoke, who have managed the feat once apiece.

Natalia LaFourcade Among the Top Winners at This Year’s Latin Grammys

Natalia LaFourcade has her hands full…

The 36-year-old Mexican singer-songwriter proved to be one of the night’s big winners at the Latin Grammys awards show, taking home three prizes, including one of the top awards.

LaFourcade, a Grammy and Latin Grammy darling, was nevertheless a surprise winner in the Album of the Year category with her Un Canto Por México, Vol. 1, a collection of songs dedicated to Mexico and arranged in traditional style.

LaFourcade also won best regional song for “Mi Religión” and best alternative song for “En Cantos,” alongside Ile and co-written with Ismael Cancel.

LaFourcade now raises her total of Latin Grammy wins to 14 after winning in every category she was nominated this year.

But she wasn’t the only top winner of the night…

Rosalía also took home three awards.

The 27-year-old Spanish singer won those awards due to two collaborations. “Yo x Ti Tu x Mi,” with Puerto Rican star Ozuna, won best urban fusion performance and best urban song, leading also to two Latin Grammy wins for Ozuna and one for Rosalía’s collaborator, El Guincho. And “TKN,” her collaboration with Travis Scott, won best short form video (directed by Nicolás Méndez, aka CANADA). She’s now an 8-time Latin Grammy winner.

Carlos Vives also claimed three awards.

The 59-year-old Colombian singer-songwriter’s “Canción para Rubén,” alongside Ruben Blades, won best tropical song while his album Cumbiana won best contemporary/tropical fusion album and the documentary El Mundo Perdido de Cumbiana won best long form video.

J Balvin, the top nominee of the evening, won the very competitive best urban album category for Colores, while Bad Bunny’s provocative “Yo Perreo Sola” won best reggaeton performance. The new category was one of the nods the Latin Recording Academy made this year toward appeasing a contingent of urban artists who felt neglected by the Latin Grammys.

The coveted record of the year award went to Alejandro Sanz’s “Contigo,” while song of the year went to Residente for his biographical beauty “René.”

In a surprise win, Mike Bahía took home the best new artist award, beating out some heavy competition, including Anuel AA, Nicky Nicole, Rauw Alejandro and Nathy Peluso.

“No, I didn’t expect this award,” he said backstage. “I’ve had beautiful career moments where awards, let’s say, haven’t really been with me. I didn’t think this would be the exception. But things happen for a reason, and I want to thank my colleagues for validating my work.”

Rosalia to Perform During Rihanna’s “Savage x Fenty Show Vol. 2” on Amazon Prime Video

The 27-year-old Spanish singer-songwriter is set to take part in the second edition of Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty brand fashion show.

Rihanna asked her nearly 99 million Twitter followers, “Who ready?” when she revealed the official teaser for Savage x Fenty Show Vol. 2, which will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, October 2.

Rosalia has joined a roster of musical artists that includes Travis Scott, Bad Bunny, Ella Mai, Miguel, Mustard and Roddy Ricch, who will all take the runway to perform during the fall 2020 collection runway show.

The show will also feature Lizzo, Big Sean, Normani, Willow Smith, Rico Nasty, Christian Combs, Bella Hadid, Cara Delevingne, Demi Moore, Irina Shayk, Laura Harrier, Paloma Elsesser, Paris Hilton and many more.

Sky Rompiendo Signs Exclusive Multi-Year Worldwide Deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing

Sky Rompiendo is switching alliances…

Sony/ATV Music Publishing entered an exclusive multi-year worldwide publishing agreement with the Colombian producer and songwriter.

Formerly signed to Warner Chappell Music, Sky Rompiendo joins Sony’s roster as his career is on the rise.

“This is a new challenge,” Sky said about the deal. “With the experience I have gained over the years coupled with this new alliance, I hope that I will be able to discover just how far music will take me.”

J Balvin‘s executive producer and longtime collaborator, Sky produced Balvin’s Colores, which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard‘sTop Latin Albums chart and debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard 200.

“Sky is one of the foremost producers and songwriters working in music today,” said Jorge Mejía, president and CEO of Sony/ATV Music Publishing’s Latin American and U.S. Latin. “We are honored to have him join our family, and are so looking forward to being part of what’s next!”

Currently, the five-time Latin Grammy-winning producer is working with Rosalía, Manuel Turizo and Nicky Jam, among others.

Most recently, the chart-topping producer co-produced Rosalía and Travis Scott‘s “TKN,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated June 13.

It’s a special first for Rosalía…

The 26-year-old Grammy-winning Spanish singer has notched her first chart visit on the Billboard Hot 100, as her Travis Scott collaboration “TKN” arrives at No. 66 on the all-genre chart dated June 13.

Additionally, Rosalia and Scott’s new single debuts at No. 2 on the Hot Latin Songs chart.

The dembow-infused tune with a trap beat was co-produced by both acts with El Guincho, Sky Rompiendo, Tainy and Teo Halm. It was released May 28 via Columbia Records.

“TKN” lands on both charts mostly on the strength of streaming activity. The bilingual track collected 7.3 million U.S. clicks in the week ending June 4, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, which yields a No. 1 debut on the Latin Streaming Songs chart.

“TKN” also registered 5,000 downloads in the week ending May 4, and debuts at No. 1 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart. It’s the second No. 1 for Rosalia on that list, and first for Scott.

“TKN” marks the highest charting title for Rosalia on Hot Latin Songs. She previously ranked as high as No. 12 with “Yo X Ti, Tú x Mi” with Ozuna (January 11-dated tally), and with her first chart entry, “Con Altura” with J Balvin and El Guincho (chart dated June 29, 2019).

“TKN” is the pair’s second team-up. Their first collaboration arrived through the remix of Scott’s Hot 100 No. 1 “Highest in the Room,” which also features Lil Baby.

Great Scott !Rosalía is back with another Travis Scott collaboration…

Late last year, the 26-year-old Spanish singer-songwriter and current ELLE magazine cover girl joined voices with Scott on the remix of his single “Highest in the Room.”

Now they’re back with their second collaboration, the bilingual track “TKN.” It’s Rosalia’s third single of 2020.

“TKN” is a reggaeton-infused fight song, issuing a bit of Mafia wisdom as well as a warning. “There are levels for everything in this life/We don’t fuck with people we don’t know,” spits Rosalía. Stoic as a mob boss, she cites the Omertà, or the Sicilian law of silence. “No new friends or new wounds,” she and Scott sing together in Spanish.

Directed by Nicolás Méndez, one half of the Spanish producer duo Canada, the new video stars Rosalía as the den mother to an unruly wolf pack of children — leading with a look-alike of Stormi, Scott and Kylie Jenner’s two-year-old daughter. The children brush Rosalía’s hair and muss it up all the same, roaming the streets of Los Angeles anarchically as Scott looks on.

While currently quarantined in Miami, Rosalía has been working on the follow-up to her Grammy-winning album, 2018’s El Mal Querer.The song with Scott, however, has been in the works for more than a year.

“There are artists that when they come into the room, everybody … gets smaller,” she told Zane Lowe on the latest episode of Apple Music’s Beats 1. “But with Travis, it’s not like that. It’s not like that. Everybody flows with him, he’s flowing, and it’s beautiful like that. And I think that he’s very special and that we had a lot of fun.”

In March, Rosalía released “Dolerme,” an urban-infused alternative rock song about changing for someone who’s not worth it.

Rosalia Reveals Second Upcoming Collaboration with Travis Scott, “TKN”

Rosalia’s reuniting with Travis Scott…

The 26-year-old Spanish singer will join voices with Scott for a second collaboration.

Rosalia announced the new collaboration via a social media post shared Monday, May 25 with the caption “It’s coming TKN.”

Rosalia didn’t reveal many details about the song, including when it will be released or what it will sound like. But in a previous interview with Apple Music, the “Con Altura” singer said that she initially planned to release a “super aggressive” club song with the rapper, but “didn’t feel like it was right to release, and I didn’t feel like it was connected with what was going on in the world at that moment.”

“TKN” follows Rosalía’s feature on Scott’s “Highest in the Room” remix released in December, which also featured Lil Baby.

The upcoming collaboration also won’t be the first time she releases new music while sheltering in place in Miami.

In March, Rosalía released “Dolerme,” an urban-infused alternative rock song about changing for someone who’s not worth it.

Selena Gomez’s “Lose You to Love Me” Sees Big Sales Increase After American Music Awards Performance

The 27-year-old Mexican American singer/actress’ chart-topping single “Lose You to Love Me” saw a big sales spike after Gomez performed the track at the American Music Awards.

The single, Gomez’s first-ever chart-topper, saw sales of 8,000 following her perforamnce; up 55% versus 5,000, according to initial reports by Nielsen Music.

Collectively, the songs performed on the November ABC television broadcast garnered a 108% gain in sales of digital downloads on November 24-26, as compared to the three days prior to the show (November 21-23). In total, the performed songs sold 84,000 on November 24-26 versus 40,000 on November 21-23.In addition to Gomez, notable gainers included Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s “Señorita” (5,000; up 79% versus 3,000), Post Malone’s “Take What You Want,” featuring Ozzy Osbourne and Travis Scott (10,000 sold on November 24-26; up 220% as compared to 3,000 sold November 21-23) and Taylor Swift’s “Lover” (10,000; up 69% versus 6,000.

Christina Aguilera to Perform New Song “Fall on Me” at the American Music Awards

Christina Aguilera is ready to introduce new music to the world…

The half-Ecuadorian American singer is set to perform at the 2019 American Music Awards.

Aguilera and A Great Big World, who first collaborated together in 2013, the same year they performed “Say Something” at the American Music Awards, will premiere a new vocal collaboration at this year’s awards show.

The single is called “Fall on Me,” and will be released on Friday, just days before Aguilera and A Great Big World perform it live at the show.

Aguilera and A Great Big World join a roster of new additions to the performers list that includes Post Malone featuring Ozzy Osbourne, Travis Scott and Watt and Green Day.

Malone, joined by Osbourne, Scott and Watt, will also perform their new single live on television.

Green Day, meanwhile, will celebrate 25 years since releasing their 1994 album, Dookie, with a performance of “Basket Case” and their latest hit, “Father of All…“

The additions to the lineup join previously announced performers the Jonas Brothers, Camila Cabello, Billie Eilish, Selena Gomez, Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Kesha feat. Big Freedia, Shania Twain and Thomas Rhett, as well as Artist of the Decaderecipient Taylor Swift.

The 2019 American Music Awards, hosted by Ciara, will air live from the Microsoft Theaterin Los Angeles on November 24 at 8:00 pm ET on ABC. Voting is open until November 20.
