Danny Garcia Named Season 21 Winner of Bravo’s “Top Chef”

The Latino chef has been crowned the new winner of Season 21 of Bravo’s culinary competition series Top Chef, becoming the first Puerto Rican, Dominican and Muslim winner.

Season 21 took place in Wisconsin, with the two-part finale in the Caribbean.

Ultimately, it was Garcia who took the Season 21 crown. He also earned an additional $53,000 in prize money, the most of any chef in a season, which he won throughout the challenges.

“I’m honored to be the first Puerto Rican, Dominican and Muslim Top Chef,” Garcia said. “I take immense pride in the dishes I’ve presented during this competition as they embody my evolution as a chef.”

Michelle Wallace was named as Top Chef Fan Favorite of the season and won $10,000.

The Top Chef Season 21 finale took place aboard MS Eurodam, where Garcia, Miller, and Jacobs served the most important meal of their careers to judges Kristen Kish, Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons, along with guest judge Emeril Lagasse.

Garcia, Miller, and Jacobs had to impress a table of culinary luminaries, including Carrie Nahabedian, Bricia Lopez, Justin Pichetrungsi, and Top Chef Canada judge David Zilber.

Ultimately, Garcia’s four-course progressive seafood menu, which took the diners on a journey of his significant culinary memories, earned him the illustrious title of Top Chef.

Colicchio stated his dessert Piragua con Leche was “fantastic … and going to be a signature” dish.

Rodriguez to Star in Guillermo del Toro’s “Pacific Rim 2”

Shyrley Rodriguez is Pacifically inclined…

The 23-year-old Latina actress has been added to the cast of Legendary/ Universal’s Pacific Rim 2, the sequel to Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham’s 2013 sci-fi film that stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood and Chinese actress Jing Tian.

Steven S. DeKnight directs the pic, which is currently in production with a storyline that has “a strong connection to China,” according to Jack Gao of Wanda, which owns Legendary and made the announcement today.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on February 23, 2018.

Rodriguez, who can currently be seen on Baz Luhrmann’s Netflix musical series The Get Down, has also landed a role in the film Wheels, the directorial debut indie from Top Chef and Project Runway helmer Paul Starkman. The film follows Max, a teen from Brooklyn, who pursues his dream of becoming a DJ.

Rodriguez plays the love interest Liza, a neighborhood girl who is strong willed, street smart, and sees the good in the world.

Louis C.K. to Guest Star on IFC’s “Portlandia”

Louis C.K. is heading to the Pacific Northwest…

The 48-year-old Mexican American actor, comedian, producer, director and editor will guest star on season 6 of IFC’s Portlandia.

Starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, who are the masterminds behind the series, the sketch comedy series returns to the small screen on January 21.

In addition to Louis C.K., who stars in the critically acclaimed FX series Louie, the show’s guest stars this season will include the likes of The Flaming Lips, Zoe Kravitz. Arrested Development’s Alia Shawkat and Mitchell Hurwitz, as well as Top Chef’s Gregory Gourdet

Beatriz and Her “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” Team to Serve as Celebrity Judges on Bravo’s “Top Chef Duels”

The Argentinean actress and her Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-stars are slated to appear on Top Chef Duels, another Top Chefseries from Bravo.

Top Chef Duels pits 18 of the best and most talked-about personalities frompast seasons of Top Chef and Top Chef Masters for a “battle royale” in the kitchen.

The 10-episode Top Chef Duels, hosted by celebrity chef Curtis Stone, will premiere on Wednesday, August 6, at 10:00 pm ET, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Stone will serve on the judges’ table withGail Simmons, with chefs like Wolfgang Puck and Hugh Acheson rounding out the panel on a rotating basis.

Beatriz and her Brooklyn Nine-Nine team (Andy Samberg, Melissa Fumero, Chelsea Peretti and co-creator Dan Goor) will serve as celebrity guests for one episode.

Other celebrity guests this season include Shailene Woodley, Pink, Scott Ian Rosenfeld, Gary Holt, Rob Zombie and the Grey’s Anatomy gang (James Pickens Jr., Sarah Drew, Camilla Luddington, Jerrika Hinton and Kevin McKidd).

As the title suggests, Top Chef Duels will have two chefs facing off in three rounds of head-to-head battles, with the competitors picking “mini duels,” targeting the other’s perceived weaknesses. The third challenge then decides who moves on to compete in the season finale, which will crown the sole winner of the $100,000 grand prize and a Food and Winefeature.

Bravo is also borrowing from its Top Chef online companion series Last Chance Kitchen, which pits eliminated contestants against each other for a chance to compete in the finale, with the Top Chef Duel equivalent: The Knockout, hosted by Puck.The same essential rules apply, though there is one twist. Unlike Last Chance Kitchen, a chef only needs one battle win to quality for a place in The Knockout online finals, though the more wins a chef has, the better their chances are in earning the sole return spot on the show.

Mujica to Host Telemundo’s “Top Chef: Estrellas”

Aylín Mujica’s television career is cookin’ up…

The 38-year-old Cuban telenovela actress, model and ballet dancer will serve as the host of Top Chef: Estrellas, the Spanish-language version of Bravo‘s popular culinary competition series Top Chef.

The new original version from Telemundo will feature eight Hispanic celebrities competing for the Top Chef title and a $100,000 prize, which will be doled out to the charity of their choice.

The celebrities will be featured cooking their favorite dishes under the guidance and coaching of professional chefs. Like the U.S. version, the chefs will participate in weekly competitions and use different “tools” in their preparations to impress the celebrity chefs and survive the competition. L

Latina chef and TV host Lorena Garcia will host alongside Jaime Martin Del Campo and Ramiro Arvizu.

Telemundo is looking to build on the massive success of La Voz Kids, the network’s Spanish-language version of NBC’s The Voice.

Mujica most recently starred as the main villain, Fernanda, in Corazon Valiente. She’s also had roles in Aurora, Niños Ricos, Pobres Padres and La Dueña.
