TNT Renews Cruz’s “Major Crimes” for a Third Season

Raymond Cruz’s crime-solving days aren’t over yet…

TNT has ordered a 15-episode new season of The Closer spinoff Major Crimes, which stars the 52-year-old Mexican American actor as Detective Julio Sanchez.

The police procedural series, which received an additional four-episode order this season, ranks among basic cable’s Top 10 series with total viewers this summer.

Major Crimes, which has been picked up for a third season, is drawing more than 6.7 million viewers in Live + 7. It’s set to wrap up its summer run on August 19 and will return in November for the second half of the season.

The series also currently stars Nadine Velazquez and Jonathan Del Arco as series regulars..

The 34-year-old Puerto Rican actress has joined the cast of the indie drama Sister.

Inspired by true events, the story centers on a struggling, self-centered actor (portrayed by Reid Scott) forced to take custody of an 11-year-old adopted sister that he barely knows.

Velazquez, appearing in the second season of TNT’s Major Crimes, joins a cast that includes Illeana Douglas, Serinda Swan, John Heard and Barbara Hershey.

David Lascher is directing from a script he co-wrote with producer Todd Camhe.

Velazquez’s credits include television roles on Prison Break, My Name is Earl, Hart of Dixie and The League, as well as a breakout role in the film Flight with Denzel Washington.

Sister is currently filming in Los Angeles.

TNT Renews Gabriel’s “Falling Skies” for a Fourth Season

It’s dynamite news for Seychelle Gabriel

TNT has ordered a fourth season of the epic drama Falling Skies, which stars the 22-year-old part-Mexican American actress.

Produced by DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg, Falling Skies tells the story of life and survival in the wake of a catastrophic alien invasion.

Noah Wyle portrays Tom Mason, a college professor who becomes an unlikely resistance leader after a massive invasion by an alien force.

Along with Gabriel, who portrays Lourdes, and Wylie,  the series also stars Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Connor Jessup, Colin Cunningham and Sarah Carter.

Falling Skies premiered in the summer of 2011 and ranked as basic cable’s No. 1 new series that year. It returned with strong numbers last year, averaging 5.6 million viewers in Live + 7-day viewing

Currently airing on Sundays at 10:00 pm ET, Falling Skies is averaging 5.8 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery.

TNT plans to launch the 10-episode fourth season in summer 2014.

Gabriel’s other credits include the feature films The Spirit (2008) and The Last Airbender (2010).

Molina’s NBC Comedy Pilot “Assistance” Still Alive at NBC

It looks like Alfred Molina may still be heading to the Peacock Network in the near future…

NBC is reportedly keeping its comedy pilot Assistance, which stars the 60-year-old half-Spanish actor, in contention with an order for three more scripts, according to Deadline.com.

Universal Television, which is producing the project, has extended the options on several cast members, including Molina and star Krysten Ritter.

From Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Prods., Assistance is based on the play by Leslye Headland, who wrote the adaptation.

It centers on an idealistic “working girl” assistant (Ritter) who is pulled between her colleague (“work husband”) and her real-life fiance while trying to manage a demanding boss.

Molina most recently starred in TNT’s medial drama Monday Mornings. And he voices one of the new characters in Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University.

Brewster to Star in the Action-Thriller “American Heist”

The 33-year-old Brazilian-American actress has joined the cast of the action thriller American Heist, a remake of the 1959 Steve McQueen film St. Louis Bank Robbery.

The film, which will also star Hayden Christensen, Adrien Brody and Akon, tells the story of two brothers with checkered pasts — one struggling on the road to normalcy, the other just released from prison — who intertwine when one drags the other into an ill-fated bank robbery spearheaded by a gang of dangerous criminals, testing the loyalty of their sibling bond and how far they will go for greed and family.

Principal photography on the Glacier Films-produced project begins this week.

Sarik Andreasyan will direct the film.

Brewster, who stars on TNT’s Dallas reboot, most recently appeared in the highly successful Fast & Furious 6.

Brewster to Star in the Dark Comedy “North of Hell”

The 33-year-old half-Brazilian American actress and Fast & Furious 6 star has been added to the cast of the dark comedy North of Hell.

The indie film, which stars Patrick Wilson and Katherine Heigl, centers on a successful businessman and the sociopathic, bi-polar, obsessive-compulsive wife who controls everything in his life.

Brewster, who stars on TNT’s Dallas, will portray a sexy hire at Wilson’s character’s work who seduces and blackmails him, threatening to go to his wife with their affair.

North of Hell is slated to begin production this month in New Orleans.

Anthony Burns, who wrote the script, will direct the film.

TNT has renewed its popular Dallas reboot, which stars the 33-year-old half-Brazilian American and Fast and Furious 6 star, for a third season.

Produced by Warner Horizon Television, Dallas is the official follow-up to the iconic 1980s series.

TNT has ordered 15 episodes for the third season, which is slated to launch in early 2014.

“Although we said goodbye to Larry Hagman and his iconic character J.R. Ewing this year, Dallas has many more stories left to tell, and the Ewing clan will continue to honor J.R.’s memory by keeping its audience surprised and delighted,” said the network’s head of programming Michael Wright.

In addition to Brewster – whose character Elena Ramos could prove to be the main antagonist next season after learning J.R. defrauded her father years earlier in the season finale – the series stars Julie Gonzalo, Jesse Metcalf and Josh Henderson, as well as Dallas’ original stars Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray.

Cruz’s “Major Crimes” Gets Additional Four-Episode Order from TNT

It looks like you’ll be seeing more of Raymond Cruz and his Major Crimes co-stars this season.

TNT has ordered four additional episodes of the network’s The Closer spinoff, which stars the 51-year-old Mexican American actor, Jonathan Del Arco and Mary McDonnell. Additionally, this season will see the arrival of Nadine Velasquez as a series regular.

TNT’s order bring Major Crimes’ episode count to 19, nearly twice the number of episodes the police procedural aired in its 10-episode first season.

Major Crimes‘ debut, which aired immediately after the blockbuster series finale of The Closer last August, drew 9.5 million viewers, a new record as basic cable’s most-watched series launch ever.

With an average audience of nearly 7 million, Major Crimes’ first season ranked as cable’s No. 1 new series for last year.

Major Crimes’ second season will debut on June 10 on TNT.

International Trailer Released for “Monsters University,” Featuring Molina’s New Character

He played the villainous Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2… And, now Alfred Molina will be portraying a more animated monster.

The 59-year-old half-Spanish actor, who recently starred in TNT’s medical drama Monday Mornings, is lending his voice to Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University, which just saw its international trailer released.

Molina will voice the character of Professor Knight in the prequel to Monsters, Inc., which focuses on Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sulley (John Goodman) as they study to become “scarers.”

In addition to Molina, the film introduces Helen Mirren’s Dean Hardscrabble. Steve Buscemi, John Krasinski and Nathan Fillion also star.

Monsters University opens in the U.S. on June 21.

Gomez’s “Cougar Town” to Return for a Fifth Season on TBS

Ian Gomez’s cougar days will continue for at least another season…

TBS has renewed Cougar Town, which stars the part-Puerto Rican actor, for a fifth season.

The network saved the series from cancellation by taking it over from ABC for its current fourth season.

Cougar Town’s fifth season, which will air in 2014, will feature 13 episodes.

The ABC Studios-produced series, which airs Tuesdays at 10:00 pm, will have its season four finale on April 9.

Since its launch on the network January 8, the show has averaged 2.8 million viewers and 1.7 million adults 18-49  in the Live+7, ranking as TBS’ top original primetime series ever in total viewers and the demo. It also is drawing younger viewers than during its last season on ABC by a median age of 7 years.

Along with Gomez, who portrays the lovable Andy on Cougar Town, the series stars Courteney Cox, Christa Miller, Busy Philipps, Dan Byrd, Josh Hopkins and Brian Van Holt.

Cox and David Arquette also serve as executive producers on the show.
