Netflix Releases First Look at Christian Serratos as Selena in “Selena: The Series”

Nearly a year after revealing that it was developing a series based on the life of Selena, Netflix has officially unveiled a sneak peek at Selena: The Series, starring the 29-year-old half-Mexican American actress asLa Reina de la Musica Tejana.

“Get your first look at Christian Serratos, who will play Selena Quintanilla in a coming of age story chronicling the iconic singer’s rise,” a tweet stated, adding that Selena: The Series’ first part will premiere in 2020.

Serratos is best known for her roles as Rosita Espinosa on AMC‘s The Walking Dead, Suzie Crabgrass on the Nickelodeon series Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide and Angela Weber in The Twilight Saga series. 

In addition to Serratos’ taking the lead, Netflix confirmed that Ricardo Chavirawill co-star as Selena’s father AbrahamGabriel Chavarriaas her brother A.B.Noemi Gonzalezas her sister Suzette, Seidy Lopezas her mother Marcella, and Madison Taylor Baez as young Selena.

On December 11, 2018, the official Netflix U.S. news Twitter account revealed that the Quintanilla family, along with Jaime Dávilaand Rico Martinezfrom Campanario EntertainmentSimran A. Singh, and Moisés Zamora, would executive produce the project.

Meraz to Star Opposite Will Smith in Netflix’s Film “Bright”

The 31-year-old Mexican actor is reuniting with David Ayer and Will Smith in the Netflix film Bright.

Maestro Lands Recurring Role on ABC’s “Scandal”

The 37-year-old Argentine actress and singer-songwriter, who currently stars on FX’s The Strain, has landed a major recurring role on the upcoming fifth season of ABC’s Washington, D.C., drama series Scandal.

As is the case with most castings on Shonda Rhimes’ series, the character Maestro will play is being kept under wraps.

This marks Maestro’s return to ABC, where she had a heavily recurring role on another popular drama series, Alias, as Jennifer Garner’s sister.

Maestro starred in the The Twilight Saga as Carmen.

Serratos Upped to Series Regular on AMC’s “The Walking Dead”

The network has upped the 23-year-old part-Mexican actress to series regular for The Walking Dead’s fifth season.

Serratos joined the cast of the blockbuster zombie apocalypse in September, portraying Rosita Espinosa beginning in the series’ tenth episode of Season 4.

Her character is one of the military crew trying to escort a scientist to Washington, DC with hopes of finding a cure for the zombie infection.

Serratos is best known for portarying Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) best friend Angela in Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga series. Her other credits include appearances on The Secret Life of the American Teenager and American Horror Story.

The fifth season of The Walking Dead Season 5 is set to debut in October.

The 22-year-old Latina actress has landed a high-profile role on AMC’s The Walking Dead.

Serratos, best known for portraying Angela Weber in The Twilight Saga franchise, will play the tough and beautiful Rosita Espinosa, a character introduced in Issue 53 of the comic book, in the blockbuster zombie drama upcoming fourth season.

Rosita is one of the survivors of the mysterious undead apocalypse that has taken over the planet.

Serratos will recur on Season 4 with an option to become a regular cast member in Season 5.

Serratos’ other credits include guest-starring roles on Zoey 101, 7th Heaven, Hannah Montana and The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Guillermo Navarro has officially signed with talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME).

The 58-year-old Mexican cinematographer most recently shot the upcoming Pacific Rim, working with his long-time collaborator Guillermo del Toro.

Navarro’s credits include Pan’s Labyrinth, which earned him an Oscar for best cinematography; Hellboy and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn 1 and 2.

His directing debut is a 2012 music video for musician Mia Maestro titled “Blue Eyed Sailor,” co-directed with media artist Juan Azulay, also featuring his son Alvaro Navarro‘s cinematography.

He also recently directed three episodes of Hannibal for NBC.

The independent film is set in a world where homosexuality is the norm and follows several storylines.

Belle, has previously starred in 10,000 BC and From Prada to Nada, will portray a star football quarterback adored by a large fan base while Lutz, whose deal is closed, would play an aspiring journalist. The two fall in love, with their relationship growing in secret, but when the romance becomes public, the two find themselves being bullied.

The feature is based on a short by Kim Rocco Shields. Shields co-wrote the feature script with David Tillman and is directing.

Belle currently stars opposite Andy Garcia in the indie drama Open Road, which premiered at the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival.
