Martinez to Return for Season 3 of ABC’s Anthology Series “American Crime”

The 45-year-old Latino actor is set to return for another installment of ABC’s anthology series American Crime.

Martinez, who co-starred in the first season of the series from John Ridley and guest starred in Season 2, will return for season 3.

He joins fellow retuning players Timothy Hutton, Felicity Huffman, Regina King, Lili Taylor, Richard Cabral and Connor Jessup in the acclaimed series, executive produced by Ridley and Michael McDonald.

His character provides a further glimpse into Season 3, which explores labor issues, economic divides and individual rights in North Carolina.

“Ever since Benito brought the role of Alonzo Gutierrez to life in season one, John and I have been looking for a character that would be as memorable and worthy of Benito’s talent. He will be tackling the role of a man searching for his missing son,” said McDonald.

Martinez, an alum of The Shield, recently worked opposite Tom Cruise on the crime thriller American Made. He had recurring roles on How To Get Away with Murder and The Blacklist.

Huertas Lands Recurring Role on NBC’s Dramedy “This Is Us”

The 39-year-old Puerto Rican actor and Castle alum has booked a recurring role on Dan Fogelman’s NBC dramedy series This Is Us.

Starring Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K. Brown, This Is Us follows an ensemble — some of them sharing the same birthday — whose life stories intertwine in curious ways.

Huertas is set to portray Mike, Jack’s (Ventimiglia) co-worker and best friend.

Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Chris Sullivan, Susan Kelechi Watson and Ron Cephas Jones also star.

Huertas played Detective Javier Esposito on ABC’s long-running hit drama series Castle, a role which earned him an Imagen Award, Alma Award and Prism Award.

Huertas also starred in Generation Kill and The Shield for FX. He can also be seen in the indie film Reparation.

Soria to Appear in Recurring Role on USA Network’s Drama “Complications”

The 28-year-old Latino actor, best known for his role as Private First Class Hector Cruz on the Lifetime series Army Wives, has landed a recurring role on the USA Network’s Complications.

From Burn Notice creator Matt Nix and Fox Television Studios, the drama series centers on John Ellison (portrayed by Jason O’Mara), a disillusioned suburban ER doctor who finds his existence transformed when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a young boy’s life and killing one of his attackers.

Soria will play Alvarez, a Superior Lieutenant of the Nortenos Locos and a man you simply don’t mess with.

His previous television credits include The Shield, CSI: Miami, Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, Bones and The Closer.

Rodriguez to Appear on the Fourth Season of NBC’s “Grimm”

The 33-year-old Latina actress and Tony Award nominee has landed a recurring role on NBC’s supernatural crime drama Grimm, co-created by Angel co-creator David Greenwalt.

Rodriguez will portray Special Agent Chavez, an FBI agent with a hidden agenda and a secret identity.

Rodriguez, who starred on All My Children, can currently be seen as Aleida Diaz on Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black.

Her other credits include television appearance on Power, Cold Case, FlashForward, Law & Order, The Shield and ER.

Grimm was renewed for a fourth season in March.

Bautista to Star in Netflix’s Sci-Fi Drama “Sense8”

Ness Bautista is preparing for a sense8-ational role.

The Latino actor has landed a recurring role on Sense8, Netflix‘s 10-episode sci-fi drama series from Lana and Andy Wachowski and J. Michael Straczynski, which has been called as “a gripping global tale of minds linked and souls hunted” that incorporates the Wachowskis’ storytelling style.

“The series follows eight characters around the world who, in the aftermath of a tragic death, find themselves linked to each other mentally and emotionally,” Straczynski told Deadline.com last month. “They can not only see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, they have access to each other’s deepest secrets. Not only must they figure out what happened and why and what it means for the future of humanity, they must do so while being hunted by an organization out to capture, kill or vivisect them.”

There’s no word on Bautista’s character in the series, which also stars Alfonso Herrera, Tuppence Middleton, Aml Ameen, Freema Agyeman, Tena Desae, Doona Bae, Max Riemelt,  Erendira Ibarra, Jamie Clayton and Miguel Silvestre.

He currently recurs on TNT’s The Last Ship and previously starred on The Shield, Beauty and the Beast and Prime Suspect.

From ABC Studios, the dark, racially charged drama, starring Timothy Hutton and Felicity Huffman, centers on a young couple in Modesto, California, who are attacked in their home.

Matt Skokie, a war vet, was killed, and his wife, Lily, is unconscious, barely hanging on. Both sets of parents are at her bedside hoping for a miracle while four suspects are about to be arrested. The case sends shock waves into the community stirring up tensions across racial lines in this gritty drama.

Benito Martinez, best known for hisroles on Sons of Anarchy, Supernatural and The Shield, portrays Alonzo Gutierrez.

Martinez’s costars W. Earl Brown, Richard Cabral, Penelope Ann Miller, Elvis Nolasco and Johnny Ortiz.

American Crime was written, directed and produced by John Ridley (12 Years A Slave).

BET to Launch New Scripted Series “The Start Up,” Starring Maldonado

It’s the start of something special at BET for Allen Maldonado…

During its upfront event in New York City this week, the cable network announced plans to launch new scripted series The Start Up, which stars the 30-year-old part-Latino actor.

In the series, hip-hop prince Diggy Simmons makes his scripted series debut as Blake Monroe, the founder of TheJetsetters.com, an entertainment and lifestyle blog.

The Start Up focuses on what it means to be young, gifted and digital, as Blake and his friends strategize for fame and financing while navigating the freedoms and pressures of adulthood.

In addition to Simmons and Maldonado, the series also stars Teyana Taylor, Bria Murphy, Chris Brew and Stephanie Charles.

Maldonado’s previous credits include the short-lived television series Chase, Detroit 1-8-7, Rizzoli & Isles, Lie to Me and The Shield, as well as a recurring role on The Young and the Restless.

Escarpeta Starring in the Adventure-Thriller “Into the Storm”

It’s a case of stormy weather for Arlen Escarpeta

The 32-year-old Belizean actor is starring in New Line Cinema and Village Roadshow Pictures’ adventure-thriller Into the Storm.

Escarpeta, best known for his roles in Friday the 13th, Brotherhood and Final Destination 5, portrays Daryl in the film, which will be released on August 8, 2014.

The Steven Quale-helmed “found footage” natural disaster film is told  through the eyes and camera lenses of professional storm chasers, thrill-seeking amateurs and courageous townspeople, throwing you “directly into the eye of the storm to experience Mother Nature at her most extreme.”

The script for Into the Storm was penned by John Swetnam.

In addition to Escarpeta, the film also stars Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Callies, Matt Walsh, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Nathan Kress, Jon Reep and Jeremy Sumpter.

Escarpeta’s other credits include appearances on Boston Public, The Shield, Judging Amy and Boomtown.

The 42-year-old Guatemalan American actor, best known for portraying David Aceveda in the FX drama series The Shield, has been cast in ABC’s drama pilot American Crime.

Written and executive-produced by John Ridley, the project centers on the racially charged murder of a war veteran and the subsequent trial, which are examined through the personal lives of the players involved.

Martinez will portray Alonzo, a hardworking, middle-class widowed father whose son is accused of the crime.

He previously recurred on Sons Of Anarchy and is coming off an arc on House Of Cards.

His other credits include television appearances on Dallas, Major Crimes, Covert Affairs, Burn Notice, Lie to Me and 24.

Ramos to Star in ABC’s “Lucky 7” Drama Pilot

Luis Antonio Ramos will be green with envy in the near future…

The Puerto Rican actor and ALMA Award-nominee has been cast in ABC’s drama pilot Lucky 7.

The project centers on seven employees at a service station in Queens whose lives are changed in many unexpected ways when they win the lottery.

Ramos will portray Antonio Clemente, the cheerful, charming gas station mechanic who’d pulled out of the lottery pool to save a little cash.

Ramos’ credits include Martin, Early Edition, Friends, The Shield, CSI and CSI: Miami.
