Aguilera Shines in All-Star A Cappella Cover of Queen’s “We Are The Champions”

Christina Aguilera is the champion, my friends

The 34-year-old half-Ecuadorian American singer joins an all-star roster of musicians to perform an a cappella version of Queen’s rock classic We Are The Champions.”

We Are The Champions with Christina Aguilera

Late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon revealed the highly entertaining video featuring Aguilera, Carrie Underwood, Sam Smith, Ariana Grande, One Direction and others during a special post-Super Bowl episode of NBC’s The Tonight Show.

With the screen divided into a nine-square grid, similar to the iconic The Brady Bunch opening credits, Fallon sang the opening lines of the song while the Roots constructed a tight rhythm section using only their own mouths. Then Underwood chimes in to carry the song for a few lyrics, followed by Smith and Grande sharing a duet on the triumphant chorus.

Usher, Blake Shelton, Meghan Trainor and One Direction also contribute to the “We Are The Champions” bit, but in an a cappella performance that features big time voices like Underwood and Grande, it’s Aguilera who steals the song with a skyscraping final chorus during the grand finale.

Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” Gets the Jimmy Fallon Treatment…

Sure Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is inescapable this season, even topping Billboard’s Holiday Songs chart… But the instaclassic is getting a funtastic makeover.

Backstage before a recent taping of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the 42-year-old part-Venezuelan singer, host Jimmy Fallon and his backing band, The Roots, put a new spin on the Christmas classic by performing the song using classroom instruments.

To increase the adorable quotient: a quartet of kids pop up throughout the performance to sing backup.

Even with the unusual instruments like a ukulele and xylophone, the song comes together quite nicely in delightful harmony.

It’s Fallon’s latest creative re-do of a Latina artist’s song, following his take on Christina Aguilera‘s “Your Body,” featuring office supplies.

Musical instruments, who needs them? Certainly not Christina Aguilera!

During a recent visit to NBC‘s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the 31-year-old half-Ecuadorian American Grammy-winning singer created a musically delicious watercooler moment with only her voice and some offices supplies.

Aguilera, Jimmy Fallon and Fallon’s house band The Roots joined forces for a sweet-sounding performance of The Voice coach’s recent single “Your Body,” using office supplies like a stapler as their musical instruments.

Fallon and The Roots did something similar a few months ago with classroom instruments to Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe.”

Your Body” is the first single off of Aguilera’s seventh studio album Lotus, which will be released next week.

Mars to Guest Star on “The Cleveland Show” Next Season

He’s known for his high-octane performances… But Bruno Mars is about to get animated in a different way.

The 26-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer-songwriter will be appearing as a character on Fox’s The Cleveland Show.

In the episode titled “Menace II Society,” Mars will be joined by Kanye West, The Roots drummer ?uestlove, Nicki Minaj and Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am.

“We have a couple of original songs with Kanye and Will and Bruno [Mars], I mean, all of them, it was great,” says the show’s executive producer Rich Appel.

The episode depicts the guest stars as members of the “rap illuminati,” who control pop culture.

“Cleveland inadvertently breaks into it and then it’s how he will either bring them down or they’ll bring him down,” adds Appel.

No word yet on when the episode is slated to premiere.
