Pedro Correa to Star in the Indie Film “My Dead Dad”

Pedro Correa sees dead people…

The Peruvian-American actor, writer and producer has been cast in My Dead Dad, a coming-of-age indie drama from executive producers Declan Baldwin and Karl Hartman of Big Indie Pictures.

Correa will star opposite Booboo Stewart, Raymond Cruz, Simon Rex and Steven Bauer in the film.

Correa also co-wrote My Dead Dad alongside the film’s director Fabio Frey.

The film centers on a young burnout who discovers his estranged father is dead and has left him an apartment complex. With hopes of cutting ties, he’s forced to grow up and learn about the father he never knew through the eclectic tenants.

Wanderwell Entertainment’s Tara Ansley produced the film with Correa for Never Norm Films.

Correa’s previous projects include Little Fires Everywhere, The Middle and Deadly Scholars.

Gina Gallego to Star in Showtime’s Drama Pilot “The President is Missing”

The 64-year-old Mexican American actress has been cast as a series regular opposite David Oyelowo in The President is MissingShowtime’s drama series adaptation of the novel by President Bill Clinton and James Patterson.

Hailing from Christopher McQuarrieand Anthony Peckham, The President is Missing centers on a powerless and politically aimless vice president (Oyelowo) who unexpectedly becomes president halfway into his administration’s first term, despite his every wish to the contrary. He walks right into a secret, world-threatening crisis, both inside and outside the White House. Attacked by friends and enemies alike, with scandal and conspiracy swirling around him, he is confronted with a terrible choice: keep his head down, toe the party line and survive, or act on his stubborn, late-developing conscience and take a stand.

Gallego will play Mrs. Aceves, Martin’s executive assistant, a position of influence. She is sweet but also an extremely patient adversary.

The project is based on the book by Clinton and Patterson, which was the No. 1 novel of 2018 and has sold more than 2.3 million copies in North America alone.

Peckham is writing the adaptation.

Mel Rodriguez to Star in YouTube Premium’s Dark Comedy “On Becoming a God in Central Florida”

The 45-year-old Latino actor has been cast in On Becoming a God in Central FloridaYouTube Premium’s a one-hour dark comedy series set in the 1990s.

Rodriguez will star opposite Ted LevineKirsten Dunst and Beth Ditto, the lead singer of Gossip, who’ll be series regulars, as well as Usman Ally, who has a recurring role.

The web series hails from George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures and Sony’s TriStar Television.

On Becoming A God In Central Florida, one of the passion projects for the late TriStar television head Suzanne Patmore Gibbs, was written by Robert Funke and Matt Lutsky based on a spec script they wrote.

Set near Orlando in the early 1990s, it centers on Krystal Gill (Dunst), a minimum-wage-earning water park employee who will eventually scheme her way up the ranks of the Founders American Merchandise, the cultish, flag waving, multi-billion dollar pyramid scheme that drove her family to ruin.

Rodriguez will play the manager of the low-rent waterpark where Krystal works.

Rodriguez’s previous credits include Getting On, The New Normal, Hot in Cleveland and The Middle.

Carrero to Voice Lead Princess on Disney Junior’s “Elena of Avalor”

Disney Junior has announced plans to launch an animated spinoff from Sofia The First, with the 26-year-old Dominican actress voicing the lead character.

Entitled Elena of Avalor, it centers on Princess Elena of Avalor, a confident and compassionate teenager in an enchanted fairytale kingdom inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore.

The title character will be introduced in a special episode of its mothership series Sofia The First, in a story arc that will usher in the 2016 launch.

Carrero’s journey as Princess Elena began long ago when her parents and kingdom were taken from her by the evil sorceress, Shuriki. She bravely faced the sorceress to protect her little sister, Princess Isabel, and grandparents but in the process, her magical amulet pulled her inside its enchanted jewel, saving her life but imprisoning her at the same time. Decades later, Princess Sofia of Enchancia discovers the truth about the amulet she has worn since joining her royal family and sets out to restore Elena to her human form and help her return to the kingdom of Avalor.

The series will be presented in 25 languages on Disney Junior channels and daily programming blocks for kids age 2-7 on Disney Channels, among other platforms, in 154 countries around the world.

Disney Television Animation is producing Elena Of Avalor and Sofia The First‘s Craig Gerber is executive producing. Silvia Cardenas Olivas (Moesha, The Brothers Garcia), is the story editor, and Elliot M. Bour (The Little Engine That Could) is the supervising director.

Carrero’s credits include television appearances on The Americans, The Mentalist, Lincoln Heights, Young & Hungry, Hannah Montana, Men of a Certain Age, The Middle, Greek, Zeke and Luther and Baby Daddy.

Vega to Appear in Recurring Role on ABC’s “Nashville”

The 25-year-old half-Colombian American actress, who married Big Time Rush’s Carlos Pena, Jr. in January, has landed a recurring role on the upcoming third season of ABC‘s country music drama Nashville.

Vega, best known for starring in the Spy Kids franchise films, has been cast for a three-episode arc as Kiley, Gunnar’s (portrayed by Sam Palladio) first love and high school sweetheart.

Her character is now a single mother who’s recently arrived in Nashville with the intention of providing some stability the her 10-year-old son that she had at a very young age.

Vega’s previous television credits include roles on Tomorrow People, Ruby & The Rockits, Royal Pains, The Middle and Ghost Whisperer.
