Luna to Star in Discovery Channel’s “Harley and the Davidsons”

The 33-year-old Latino American actor has been cast in the Discovery Channel’s Harley and the Davidsons, a six-hour miniseries about the birth of the iconic motorcycle brand.

It follows William Harley and Arthur Davidson, who launched the iconic motorcycle manufacturer in Milwaukee in 1903.

Luna, who starred in El Rey Network’s spy thriller The Matador, will portray Eddie Hasha, the bike racer nicknamed “the Texas Cyclone.”

He joins a cast that includes Michiel Huisman, Robert Aramayo, Bug Hall, Stephen Rider and Jessica Camacho.

The miniseries will be broadcast in two-hour blocks over three consecutive nights starting Monday, September 5.

Production on the miniseries starts this month.

Luna’s previous credits include television appearances on Wicked City, True Detective and NCIS: Los Angeles, as well as the films Gravy and Freeheld.

Luna to Star in ABC’s Drama Pilot “L.A. Crime”

The 31-year-old Latino American actor, the star of El Rey Network’s short-lived original series Matador, has been cast as the co-lead opposite Adam Rothenberg in ABC’s drama pilot L.A. Crime, from ABC Studios and Mandeville.

The character-driven “true crime” procedural, written by Steven Baigelman and directed by Tom Shankland, explores sex, politics and popular culture across various noteworthy eras in Los Angeles history.

In the first installment, L.A. Crime: The Sunset Strip, L.A. cops Jack Roth (Rothenberg) and Paco Contreras (Luna) will be searching for a Bonnie & Clyde-esque serial-killing team amid the coke-infused rock ‘n’ roll, revelry of the 1980s Sunset Strip. Paco is Jack’s newly transferred partner who struggles to fit in with the unit, since he was responsible for the demise of Jack’s old partner.

Erika Christensen, Taissa Farmiga, Darrell Brit-Gibson and Karolina Wydra co-star.

Following his breakthrough run as the lead on El Rey’s Matador, Luna also recently landed a recurring gig on the second season of HBO’s True Detective. His feature film Freeheld has been picked up by Lionsgate.

It’s nothin’ but net for Gabriel Luna

El Rey Network has ordered a 13-episode second season of the soccer-themed spy thriller Matador, starring the 31-year-old Latino actor.

From writer-producer Roberto Orci, the series centers on Antonio “Matador” Bravo, a soccer star who in reality uses his sports career as a cover for his work as a skilled covert operative executing missions for a little-known branch of the CIA.

Alfred Molina, Nicky Whelan, Neil Hopkins, Tanc Sade, Yvette Monreal, Elizabeth Peña, Julio Oscar Mechoso, Louis Ozawa Changchien, Sammi Rotibi, Jonny Cruz, Isabella Gomez and Peter Gadiot co-star.

“It just fit in with what we wanted to do … this is why I created [El Rey],” said filmmaker and the network’s founder Robert Rodriguez, who trumpeted the network’s commitment to diversity by saying that at least 50% of the network’s talent both in front of and behind the camera is diverse. “We are so happy with the season already, we are on episode 11. It fits right in with our network. It’s kickass, the characters are really engaging, it’s your dream kind of show to do.”

The announcement comes in advance of the The Matador’s premiere on July 15.

A sneak peek of the pilot episode becomes available this week on iTunes, Vudu, Xbox 360 and other platforms.

Trailer Released for the Black Comedy “Dom Hemingway,” Starring Bichir

He may portray a police detective on FX’s The Bridge But Demián Bichir is far from law-abiding in his latest film.

Lionsgate has released the official trailer for Dom Hemingway, starring the 50-year-old Mexican actor as Jude Law’s maniacal boss.

Law plays the eponymous larger-than-life safecracker in the black comedy. Back on the streets of London after 12 years in prison, he’s eager to collect what he’s owed for keeping his mouth shut. But things take a turn when he and his partner (Richard E. Grant) visit his boss (Bichir) in the south of France.

Game of ThronesEmilia Clarke also stars in the film  from The Matador writer-director Richard Shepard.

Lionsgate UK is releasing the film on November 15th in Britain and Fox Searchlight will release the film in North America next year.

Bichir to Star in “Dom Hemingway”

He may be known for his dramatic work… But Demian Bichir will soon be showing off his comedic chops on the big screen…

The 49-year-old Mexican actor, who received an Oscar nod this year for his work in A Better Life, will play a crime boss in the black comedy Dom Hemingway from The Matador writer-director Richard Shepard.

Jude Law and Richard E. Grant were already signed on to star in the revenge story. Law plays an eponymous larger-than-life safecracker who’s back on the streets of London after 12 years in prison and anxious to get some money in exchange for keeping his mouth shut. But things take a turn for the worse when he sets off to visit Bichir’s capo in the south of France.

Shooting is expected to start on October 15 in the south of France.

Bichir recently appeared in Oliver Stone’s Savages with Benicio del Toro and Salma Hayek, and he’’ll next be seen in Robert RodriguezMachete Kills with Sofia Vergara and Danny Trejo, as well as Paul Feig’s The Heat with Sandra Bullock.
