Gonzalez Cast in Recurring Role on Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow”

Nicholas Gonzalez is headed to Sleepy Hollow

The 37-year-old Mexican American actor has signed on to appear in a recurring role on Fox’s new drama Sleepy Hollow, created by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

The series follows Ichabod Crane as he partners with Sleepy Hollow’s local female sheriff to solve the mysteries of a town ravaged by the battle between good and evil.

Gonzalez, who recently signed on to appear on Lifetime’s Witches of East End, will recur as Luke, Abbie’s (portrayed Nicole Beharie) ex-boyfriend who works for the Sleepy Hollow Police Department.

Gonzalez is best known for playing Alex Santiago on Showtime’s boxing drama series Resurrection Blvd. His other television credits include appearances on The Glades, Off the Map, Melrose Place, CSI: Miami and True Blood.

 

Moreno Bringing Drama Spec to the Syfy Network

Alfonso H. Moreno is bringing some drama of meteoric proportions to the Syfy network…

The Latino writer/producer has sold a drama spec to the cable network.

The untitled project, from 20th Century Fox Television Studios and Fineman Entertainment, begins with a meteorite striking a plane. The only two survivors find themselves sleepwalking and waking up with no memory of their actions. On the run from the government, they must figure out what happened to them and prove their innocence.

Moreno will executive produce the series.

He’s previously worked on Made In Jersey, Drop Dead Diva, NCIS, The Practice, The Guardian and The Glades.

Gonzalez Cast in ABC’s Drama Pilot “The Returned”

Nicholas Gonzalez will be seeing dead people soon…

The 37-year-old Mexican American actor has landed a role on ABC’s drama pilot The Returned.

The project, which will directed by Charles McDougall, chronicles how the lives of the people in Arcadia change forever when their loved ones return from the dead.

Gonzalez, best known for his role as Alex Santiago on Showtime’s Resurrection Blvd., will portray Connor, one of Sheriff Garland’s (Matt Craven) patrolmen and boyfriend to Gail (Devin Kelly).

It’s the latest law enforcement role for Gonzalez, who has previously appeared on the short-lived Melrose Place reboot and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

His other credits include roles on The Glades, Off the Map and CSI: Miami.

Sanchez Ties the Knot with Zach Gilford

Kiele Sanchez is no longer a single lady…

The 36-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress married fiancé Zach Gilford on Saturday, according to the Gilford’s rep.

Sanchez, who currently stars in A&E’s drama series The Glades, and the Friday Night Lights star got engaged in December 2011.

Gilford – who played quarterback Matt Saracen on the football series – costarred with Sanchez in the 2010 TV movie Matadors.

Sanchez has previously appeared on Lost, Samantha Who? and Related.

Cabral Cast in ABC Family’s “Continuing Fred” Pilot

Angelique Cabral has landed her next role…

The 33-year-old part-Latina actress has signed on to star opposite Mimi Gianopulos in ABC Family’s half-hour comedy pilot Continuing Fred.

The project centers on twentysomething Winifred “Fred” Harris (Gianopulos), a newly graduated slacker with an overbearing family who surprisingly finds purpose when she begins to teach at a local elementary school.

Cabral will portray an East Coast transplant living with her husband’s mom.

Cabral, whose character was cut from the Devious Maids pilot after the show’s pick up by Lifetime, has a recurring role on ABC’s Don’t Trust The B—- in Apartment 23. Her other television credits include The Glades, Happy Endings and Two and a Half Men, as well as roles on the soap operas All My Children, One Life to Live and Guiding Light.

Nichols to Guest Star on ABC’s “Private Practice”

Marisol Nichols is about to go all Bratt

The 38-year-old part-Spanish/part-Mexican actress, who showed her softer side on ABC’s gone-to-soon dramedy GCB, has landed a guest-starring role on Private Practice, according to TVGuide.com.

The details on her role are being kept under wraps, but Nichols will appear reportedly be part of the Jake-centric episode, “The World According to Jake.”

Does this mean Nichols’ character will get in the middle of the blossoming relationship between Jake (Benjamin Bratt) and Addison (Kate Walsh)? Only time will tell…

Private Practice’s episode featuring Nichols is scheduled to air in mid-November

Nichols television credits include The Gates, 24 and Cold Case.

Sanchez’s “The Glades” Picked Up for a Fourth Season by A&E

The A&E Network has picked up its flagship drama series The Glades, which stars the 35-year-old Puerto Rican-French American actress, for a 13-episode fourth season.

The Glades, which also stars Carlos Gómez and Matt Passmore, was A&E’s first scripted series to get real traction with viewers and helped establish the network’s scripted brand.

In its third season, The Glades averaged 4.1 million total viewers for premiere episodes in Live+7, up 5% from Season 2.

Produced by 20th Century Fox Television Studios, the show centers on a Chicago detective taking a job with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) in South Florida after being falsely accused of sleeping with his captain’s wife. He assumes it’ll afford him a more relaxing lifestyle, but he quickly finds that things are more complicated than he had imagined.

The fourth season of The Glades will premiere in 2013.

Sanchez  previously starred  in The WB‘s comedic ensemble drama, Related. She was cast as a co-star in the third season of the ABC Lost’s but her character was soon written out of the show. And she appeared in the 2007 ABC pilot Football Wives, which didn’t end up going to series.

Rodriguez Picks Up Imagen Award for Her Filly Brown Role

She gained critical acclaim for her role in Filly Brown… And, now Gina Rodriguez is reaping the rewards for her impressive work in the indie film.

The 27-year-old 28-year Puerto Rican actress picked up the best actress in a feature film prize for her starring role as an aspiring hip-hop artist in Filly Brown at this weekend’s 27th annual Imagen Awards, which honor the best and most talented portrayals of Latinos in film.

Rodriguez’s performance won rave reviews at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and led to a talent holding deal with ABC/ABC Studios.

Filly Brown, which co-stars Edward James Olmos, Jenni Rivera and Lou Diamond Phillips, follows Rodriguez’s character’s rise to fame and consciousness as she copes with the incarceration of her mother through her poetry and music.

Phillips picked up the Imagen Award for best actor in a feature film for his role in the film.

Meanwhile, singer-turned-reality-star Rivera, who made her acting debut in Filly Brown, received the 2012 Imagen President’s Award.

In addition to picking up an award, Rodriguez served as the Imagen Foundation-sponsored awards show host. ,

Andrade’s “The Devil Inside” Debuts at No. 1

The future’s so bright for Fernanda Andrade and her movie career…

This weekend, the 27-year-old Brazilian actress scored her first No. 1 film…in her first feature film.

Andrade—who has appeared in several television programs like The Glades, Sons of Anarchy and The Mentaliststars in The Devil Inside, which celebrated a record-breaking opening weekend at the box office this past weekend.

The thriller, made for only $1 million, racked up $34.5 million in ticket sales, making it the biggest opening of all-time during early January, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In the horror film, based on a true story, Andrade stars as Isabella Rossi, an Italian woman seeking the truth about her mother Maria, who killed three church members during her own exorcism. When Maria was transferred to a facility in Rome from the United States, Isabella began to question whether or not a supernatural force possessed her mother. In the process, she winds up encountering several exorcisms.

And if you haven’t seen The Devil Inside yet, Andrade highly recommends it, especially if you like horror movies.

“I think it will scare your socks off,” says Andrade, who was born in Sao Paolo, Brazil. “And I think it’s just a new, fresh take on it, uncomfortably so. It’s a new, fresh look at exorcisms.”

The Devil Inside is in theaters now.
