Rodolfo Salas has new representation…

The 40-year-old Venezuelan actor and model has signed with Artists First for representation across all areas.

Salas has become one of the central faces of Netflix’s Latin American expansion, as he most recently starred in the platform’s hit series Fake Profile which follows a woman who creates a sexy profile on the online dating app Spice looking for the man of her dreams. Her dreams quickly turn into nightmares, and Camila ends up falling into a web of sex, lies, and deception. The show is headed into production on its second season in Colombia.

Prior to Fake Profile, he led the Mexican limited series Pact of Silence for Netflix. Next, he’ll star in the Lifetime original movie Padres, which is set to premiere in 2024.

Salas was also a mainstay of Telemundo after emigrating to the United States in 2014. He starred in their series La Fan, Neighborhood Butterfly, Blood of My Land, Betty In NY and most recently, Back To Me.

While not in production overseas, Rodolfo resides with his family in Miami, Florida.

Jacqueline Bracamontes to Serve as a Spanish-Language Co-Host at This Year’s Miss Universe Pageant

Jacqueline Bracamontes is preparing for a universal role…

The 43-year-old Mexican actress, former model and beauty pageant titleholder will serve as talent for the upcoming Miss Universe pageant, which is set to take place in El Salvador on November 18.

Bracamontes will be among the Latinx artists serving as talent for Telemundos’ Spanish-language telecast of the pageant.

Bracamontes will co-host alongside Danilo Carrera. Joining them are Andrea Meza, Carlos Adyan and Julia Gama.

The English broadcast of the 72nd annual competition will be hosted by former Extra host Maria Menounos alongside returning hosts Olivia Culpo and Jeannie Mai.

Culpo and Mai hosted the competition last year, replacing Steve Harvey, who had previously hosted the show for a number of years.

The competition will air on Roku and Telemundo in the U.S.

Miss Universe began airing on CBS in 1960. After it was acquired by Donald Trump in 1996, it began airing on NBC in 2003 and remained there until 2014. It aired on Fox between 2015 and 2019, before moving to FYI and Telemundo briefly before airing on Fox in 2021.

The 2023 show will be produced by executive produced Sergio Alfaro and his LA-based production company InventTV, as well as Paula Shugart and Anne Jakrajutatip for Miss Universe.

The Miss Universe Organization is now owned by Thailand’s JKN Global Group.

The show will also feature two backstage correspondents: Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and Zuri Hall, co-host of Access Hollywood and NBC’s American Ninja Warrior.

Mauricio Ochmann Signs with William Morris Endeavor (WME)

Mauricio Ochmann has new representation…

The Mexican actor and Spanish-language star, best known for his roles in telenovelas like Amarte Asi, has signed with William Morris Endeavor (WME) for representation in all areas.

Ochmann’s credits include El Señor de los Cielos and its spinoff El Chema (Telemundo Network’s highest-rated show),

Ochmann’s feature Friends Till Death (Amigos Hasta La Muerte), in which he starred and produced, debuted this past August in the top 10 on Amazon in the U.S. and was #1 in 30 countries worldwide.

Earlier this year, his film All the Places (A Todas Partes), produced by Sony for Netflix, was #6 among all movies on Netflix U.S. and debuted at #1 across Latin America.

Ochmann recently wrapped season two of the TV show Las Bravas F.C. for HBO Max.

Feature film credits include Y Como Es El, the top-grossing Mexican film of 2022, and Hazlo Como Hombre and Ya Veremos, which also were hits in Mexico.

As a producer, Ochmann has a first-look deal with streamer VIX+, a joint venture between Mexican media giant Televisa and US-based network Univision.

Next up, Ochmann is attached to star in action-comedy Operation Mother’s Day. Ochmann and Larry Robinson are producing with Argentinian director Ariel Winograd attached.

Jacqueline Bracamontes to Co-Host This Year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards

Jacqueline Bracamontes will be reporting for host duty this week…

The 43-year-old Mexican actress, former model and beauty pageant titleholder will co-host this year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards, taking place on Thursday, October 5.

It will be the first time serving as a host of the awards show for Bracamontes, who won Nuestra Belleza Jalisco 2000, Nuestra Belleza México 2000 and represented her country at Miss Universe 2001.

She’ll be joined by fellow first-time host of the show, Danilo Carrera.

The 34-year-old Ecuadorian actor, presenter and model’s credits include El amor invencible, Vencer la ausencia and Contigo sí.

Telemundo also announced the following artists were announced as presenters for the awards show: Eslabon Armado, Beéle, Christian Chávez (RBD), De La Ghetto, Danny Lux, La Materialista, Maite Perroni (RBD), Elena Rose, Alex Sensation, Mar Solis and Christopher Von Uckermann (RBD).

This year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida on Telemundo.

Karol G to Receive Spirit of Hope Award at This Year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards

Karol G has real spirit…

The 32-year-old Colombian singer/songwriter will be honored with the Spirit of Hope award at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The special award — which was established in 1996 in honor of the late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla — will recognize Karol G for her exceptional commitment to civic, community and humanitarian causes beyond her artistic success.

“I am grateful for this special recognition,” Karol G said in a statement. “My commitment with Con Cora Foundation is a fundamental part of my life and I am proud to be able to help the women who need it most.”

The “Provenza” singer’s impact extends beyond music.

In 2022, Karol G founded the Con Cora Foundation, which aims to support the economic, social, psychological and artistic development of underprivileged women.

Her philanthropic work will be recognized with the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards, which will broadcast live on Telemundo on October 5 at 7:00 pm ET.

Con Cora Foundation has partnered with She Is Foundation, dedicated to empowering women and girls through education in science, technology and entrepreneurship. Together, they aim to help one million women and girls by 2030.

In addition, Karol G’s foundation has teamed up with Fundación Acción Interna to offer scholarships — which provide skills and knowledge necessary to secure employment and reintegrate into society — to older female inmates in Bogotá and to female family members of those inmates.

A 13-time finalist at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards, earlier this year Karol G made history with Mañana Será Bonito, becoming the first woman to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with an all Spanish-language album. Currently, she’s on her U.S. stadium tour, which wraps up September 28 in Boston.

This year, Peso Pluma leads the list of finalists with 21 nods across 15 categories, including artist of the year, songwriter of the year, Global 200 Latin artist of the year, and Top Latin Album of the year.

Farruko to Perform at This Year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards

The 32-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and singer has been added to the list of artists who will perform at the awards show, which will take place on Thursday, October 5.

The “Pepas” singer is among a list of new performer additions that includes Banda Carnaval, Eddy Lover, Grupo Frontera, La Factoría, Marc Anthony, Nicki Nicole, Pepe Aguilar, Sky Rompiendo, Sofia Reyes, Ximena Sariñana and Yng Lvcas.

On Monday, Billboard and Telemundo announced the second round of performers who will take the stage at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida. The show will be broadcast live on Telemundo and simultaneously on the Spanish entertainment cable network Universo, on Peacock and on the Telemundo app. Throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, it will be available on Telemundo Internacional.

Among the previously announced performers are Calibre 50, Chiquis, El Alfa, Eladio Carrión, Justin Quiles, Los Ángeles Azules, Manuel Turizo, Marshmello, Myke Towers, Peso Pluma, Tini and Yandel.

This year, Mexican music sensation Peso Pluma leads the list of finalists with 21 nods across 15 categories, including Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year and Top Latin Album of the Year. His collaboration with Eslabon Armado, “Ella Baila Sola,” is up for six awards, including Hot Latin Song of the Year, Global 200 Latin Song of the Year and Sales Song of the Year. And his hit with Yng Lvcas, “La Bebe,” competes in five categories, including Hot Latin Song of the Year and Latin Rhythm Song of the Year.

Following Peso Pluma are Bad Bunny and Grupo Frontera with 15 nods each, including four together for their collab “un X100to,” while Karol G has 13, and Shakira and Fuerza Regida have 12 each.

Eladio Carrión is headed to the Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican Latin trap and reggaeton singer will perform at this year’s awards show, set to take place on Thursday, October 5.

Carrión joins a roster of confirmed performers that includes Calibre 50, Chiquis, El Alfa, Justin Quiles, Los Ángeles Azules, Manuel Turizo, Marshmello, Myke Towers, Peso Pluma, Tini and Yandel.

The 51-year-old Puerto Rican singer, rapper, songwriter and actress will receive the Icon Award at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards, Billboard and Telemundo have announced.

The award recognizes Ivy Queen, a pioneer of reggaeton, as an artist who has carved out a career that has remained relevant through time.

“I am beyond thrilled and honored to receive this award,” Ivy Queen said in a statement. “It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication I have put into my music over the years. I am grateful to my fans for their unwavering support throughout my career, and I hope to continue to inspire and empower women through my music for years to come.”

Celebrated globally for achieving both musical and commercial success, Ivy Queen’s career spans nearly 30 years. She earned her first entry on a Billboard chart with “Quiero Bailar,” which peaked at No. 16 on the Tropical Airplay chart in July 2005, and, a few months later, scored her first No. 1 on that tally with “Cuéntale.” She boasts 20 entries on Latin Rhythm Airplay, the third-most among Latina artists; 400 million on-demand official streams in the U.S., according to Luminate; 560,00 albums sold in the U.S.; and 584,000 song downloads.

The special honor will be presented at the awards ceremony — where Ivy Queen is also set to perform — which will be held Thursday, October 5, and will be broadcast live on Telemundo from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Fla. John Quiñones Named Gold Circle Inductee by National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences

It’s the golden hour for John Quiñones…

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will celebrate its 2023 Gold and Silver Circle Inductees at the 44th Annual News & Documentary Awards on September 27-28 in New York, with the 71-year-old Mexican-American broadcast journalist and news correspondent among the honorees.

The Gold and Silver Circle is a society of honor. Inductees are professionals who have performed distinguished service within the television industry, setting standards for achievement, mentoring, leadership and professional accolades for 50 or 25 years.

Quiñones, an ABC News correspondent who hosts What Would You Do?, is among the Gold Circle inductees, alongside David Martin of CBS News and journalist Dan Rather.

Active in the industry since 1975, Quiñones is a seven-time Emmy Award winner, a George Foster Peabody Award winner and a recipient of the National Hispanic Media Coalition‘s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Meanwhile, Otto Padron has been named a Silver Circle inductee.

Padron is the president & CEO of Meruelo Media, one of the fastest growing minority-owned media companies in California. Padron’s mass media experience, leadership skills and vision were key in the reorganization and expansion of Meruelo Media in 2012. Today, Meruelo Media stands as one of the most diverse media companies in the Nation with four key broadcast properties in Los Angeles.

Before joining the Meruelo Media team, Padron was the Senior Vice President of Programming for Univision Television Network, the leading Spanish language network in the U.S. He is the only executive to have successfully headed programming for both major US Spanish language networks, Univision and Telemundo.

Los Ángeles Azules to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at Billboard Latin Music Awards

Los Ángeles Azules have earned an extra special honor…

The Mexican cumbia group will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The band, known for songs like “El Listón de Tu Pelo,” “Cómo Te Voy a Olvidar” and “Mi Niña Mujer,” among many other cumbia anthems, will be recognized for their enduring, exceptional career that has expanded the reach of Latin music worldwide.

The award will be presented at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards, where they will also hit the stage with a special performance.

The ceremony will be held Thursday, October 5, and will be broadcast live on Telemundo from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Fla.

“We are very honored to receive this award,” the group — led by the Mejía-Avante brothers — said in a statement. “It is a recognition to our music, which we have shared with our audiences throughout all these years.”

With a 40-year musical career, Los Ángeles Azules have achieved great success, including 14 entries on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart, with three songs in the top 10. They also have 16 entries on Latin Airplay, of which six reached the top 10, including “Nunca es Suficiente,” with Natalia Lafourcade, which peaked at No. 3 in 2019. Their 2020 album De Buenos Aires Para El Mundo debuted at No. 8 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart, making it the band’s 12th album to reach the top 10 on the tally.

Past recipients of the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award include Raphael, Paquita la del Barrio, Armando Manzanero, Miguel Bosé, Los Temerarios, Intocable, José José, Marco Antonio Solís, Ricardo Arjona and Maná, among others.

Besides airing live on Telemundo, the Billboard Latin Music Awards will air simultaneously on the Hispanic entertainment cable channel, Universo, Peacock, the Telemundo App, and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean on Telemundo Internacional.
