TBS to Premiere Season 2 of Ginger Gonzaga’s “Wrecked” in June

Ginger Gonzaga is a wreck all over again…

TBS has given its survival comedy Wrecked, starring the part-Latina actress, a launch date. It will premiere Tuesday, June 20, with back-to-back episodes at 10:00 pm ET on TBS.

Ginger Gonzaga

Wrecked is about a diverse group of airplane passengers stranded on an uninhabited island, a dangerous new world where they must face many threats – mostly brought on by themselves. No longer plugged into the rest of the world, the group struggles to navigate their makeshift society while also learning to live without such modern comforts as indoor plumbing, wi-fi, social media and Chipotle.

In addition to Gonzaga, the ensemble cast includes Asif Ali, Zach Cregger, Rhys Darby, Brooke Dillman, Will Greenberg, Jessica Lowe, Ally Maki and Brian Sacca.

The first season of Wrecked was executive produced by Justin Shipley & Jordan Shipley, along with Jesse Hara and Moses Port.

Maldonado to Star Opposite Tracy Morgan in Still-Untitled TBS Comedy Series

Allen Maldonado is ready for a little family bonding.

The half-Puerto Rican actor will star opposite Tracy Morgan in Morgan’s straight-to-series comedy at TBS.

Allen Maldonado

The untitled series centers on Tray (Morgan). After being released on good behavior from a 15-year prison stint, he’s shocked to see how much the world has changed in his absence. Returning to his newly-gentrified Brooklyn neighborhood, Tray discovers that his former girlfriend has married an affable, successful white man, who’s helping raise the twin sons Tray never knew existed. Wanting nothing more than to connect with his children, but having no money to support them or himself, Tray falls back on the skills he learned in prison to make ends meet.

Maldonado will play Cousin Bobby, Tray’s loyal cousin, not the brightest tool in the shed. He was just 15 when Tray first went to prison, and he’s grown up to be a small-time hustler who is always looking for the latest scam. He helps Tray adjust to life on the outside.

The project, executive produced by Jordan Peele, was first set up at FX with a pilot order. It was picked up by TBS after FX opted not to move forward.

Maldonado has starred for the past three seasons as Curtis on ABC’s Black-ish. He previously played DeShauwn on Survivor’s Remorse and also appeared in the feature Straight Outta Compton.

Fox Brings Special Trump-Inspired Boots on Conan O’Brien’s “Made in Mexico” Episode of His TBS Late-Night Show

Vicente Fox is giving Donald Trump the boot…

One year after the 74-year-old former president of Mexico told the then-presidential candidate, in an interview with Fusion’s Jorge Ramos, “I’m not going to pay for that f*cking wall,” Fox taped another such message to Trump via Conan O’Brien’s upcoming “Made in Mexico” episode of his TBS late-night show.

Vicente Fox & Conan O'Brien

In January, the always-on-point Fox tweeted to Trump, “When will you understand that I am not paying for that f*cken wall. Be clear with US taxpayers. They will pay for it.”

And, to make sure his position was perfectly clear, Fox also presented O’Brien with a pair of boots on which were decorated the words “No F*cking Wall.”

Turning to the camera, Fox told Trump, “Don’t mess around with us … because if you look for it, you’re going to find it.”

“President Fox, I appreciate that you keep talking to Trump, but I think he switched channels very early in this program,” the host quipped.

In a previously released clip of Wednesday night’s “Conan Without Borders: Made in Mexico” special, O’Brien held a Border Wall Pledge Drive to collect cash to build the wall.

O’Brien announced in January that he was heading back to the eye of a political storm for his next road trip. The announcement came just hours after the current president of Mexico cancelled plans to meet with newly sworn in President Trump, after Trump signed an executive order expediting construction of the wall and again insisted Mexico is going to pay for it.

Louis C.K. Partners with Netflix for Two New Stand-Up Specials

Louis C.K. is taking a stand(-up)…

The 49-year-old Mexican American comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, and editor has inked a deal with Netflix for two new stand-up specials.

Louis C.K.

Louis C.K.’s first, titled 2017, was filmed in Washington D.C., and will premiere April 4, everywhere Netflix is available.

“Louis has been one of the most innovative comedy voices in this new era of stand-up,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix. “He has also been a thought leader in the business of comedy.”

Louis C.K. and Netflix hinted at a potential future collaboration back in August, when his most recent stand-up special, the 2015 Live at the Comedy Store, quietly launched on Netflix. Like his 2011 special, Louis C.K. Live at the Beacon Theater, Live at the Comedy Store was produced independently by Louis C.K. and distributed directly to consumers through his website for $5. A few months after its original release online, Live From the Comedy Store premiered on FX. The pickup by Netflix came more than a year later.

One of the most respected stand-up comedians working today, the six-time Emmy winner has also done specials for HBO, Showtime and Epix.

In January 2015, he became the first comedian to sell out Madison Square Garden three times for the same tour. The third show was recorded and released as a digital audio download on his website, which went on to take home a 2016 Grammy for Best Comedy Album. The following year, as part of an international tour that culminated in this latest special, Louis C.K. broke his own record by selling out Madison Square Garden five times over, as well as arenas all over the country.

Louis C.K. also has ramped up production via his company Pig Newton. Independently, the company produced drama Horace and Pete, which Louis C.K. wrote directed and starred in. The show, which debuted in January 2016 and was directly distributed through his website, was recently acquired by Hulu for streaming. Via his overall deal at FX Productions, Pig Newton produces the upcoming animated series The Cops for TBS, which he co-created and voices, FX comedy series Baskets and Better Things and Amazon’s One Mississippi. And he’s the executive producer, writer, director, editor and star of FX’s acclaimed comedy series Louie, which is on an indefinite hiatus after five seasons.

Ortiz to Guest Star on TBS’ “The Guest Book”

John Ortiz has signed in…

The 48-year-old Puerto Rican actor will guest star on TBSThe Guest Book, the new 10-episode comedy series from My Name Is Earl’s Greg Garcia.

John Ortiz

The Guest Book emerged from Garcia’s habit of writing fictitious stories in the guest books of various rental cabins in an effort to freak out the next renters. Now he is bringing some of those stories to life on screen centering on the vacation home Froggy Cottage and its visitors. While the house and cast of characters living in this small mountain town remain the same, each episode will feature a different set of vacationing guests.

The anthology-style show, written by Garcia and executive produced by him and Alix Jaffe, will premiere in August.

It will star Kellie Martin (Army Wives), Charlie Robinson (Hart of Dixie), Aloma Wright (Suits), Carly Jibson (Broadway’s Hairspray), Lou Wilson (Tween Fest), Garret Dillahunt (The Mindy Project), Laura Bell Bundy (Scream Queens) and Eddie Steeples (My Name Is Earl).

Martin will play Officer Kimberly Leahy, who serves on the police force in the small mountain town of Mount Trace. Robinson is Wilfrid, an easygoing, friendly gentleman who manages a group of mountain rental cottages with his wife, Emma, played by recurring guest star Wright. Jibson is Vivian, a tough, strong-willed woman who runs a bikini bar called Chubbys with her stepson Frank, played by Wilson.

In addition to Ortiz, other guest stars include Danny Pudi (Community), Jenna Fischer (The Office), Tommy Dewey (The Mindy Project), Lauren Lapkus (Orange Is the new Black), Michaela Watkins (Casual), Mary Lynn Rajskub (24), Michael Rapaport (Sully), Kate Micucci (Raising Hope), Jaime Pressly (My Name Is Earl), Stockard Channing (The Good Wife), Andrew J. West (The Walking Dead), David Zayas (Gotham), Shannon Woodward (Westworld), Margo Martindale (The Good Wife) and Stephnie Weir (The Comedians).
