Alanna Ubach to Appear on Season 2 of HBO Max’s “The Flight Attendant”

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican and Mexican American actress will appear on Season 2 of HBO Max’s critically acclaimed series The Flight Attendant as a recurring guest star.

Knight, Yasha Jackson and Audrey Grace Marshall; and new recurring guest stars Cheryl Hines, Jessie Ennis, Mae Martin, Margaret Cho, Santiago Cabrera and Shohreh Aghdashloo.

The Max Original, based on Chris Bohjalian’s 2018 novel of the same name, centers on Cassie Bowden (Cuoco), a reckless flight attendant with an alcohol problem who in Season 1, wakes up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a dead man—and no idea what happened.

Season 2 finds Cassie living her best sober life in Los Angeles while moonlighting as a CIA asset in her spare time. But when an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international brouhaha.

Ubach will play Carol Atkinson, also known as Black Market Carol, a perfectly groomed, icy flight attendant who is not a fan of Cassie.

Ubach is best known for her work in the Legally Blonde films, along with her turn as Mamá Imelda in Disney/Pixar’s Coco, and as Jo Hernandez-Frumpkis in the Bravo series Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.

She recurs opposite Kate Beckinsale on the Paramount+ series Guilty Party, and will return for the sophomore seasons of Disney+’s Monsters at Work, HBO’s Euphoria, and Hulu’s Crossing Swords.

The actress has also appeared in Netflix’s Maya and the Three, Fox’s Filthy Rich, FX’s Snowfall, AMC’s Dietland, Amazon’s Hand of God, Showtime’s Californication and HBO’s Hung, among others.

Additional film credits include BombshellGloria Bell, To the Bone, Bad TeacherRango, Waiting and its sequel Still Waiting and Clockwatchers.

HBO Max has renewed The Flight Attendant, starring the 56-year-old actress, choreographer and community activist and Kaley Cuoco, for a second season.

The series, based on the book of the same name by bestselling author Chris Bohjalian, centers on alcoholic, globe-trotting flight attendant Cassie Bowen (Cuoco) who becomes embroiled in an espionage plot following her affair with a first class passenger, who winds up murdered after their night together.

Flight Attendant was originally intended to be a limited series, but series creator and EP Steve Yockey knew there was more string he could pull upon.

The series finale leaves Cassie in a position to encounter more global intrigue.

HBO Max reports that the first season of Flight Attendant saw week-over-week growth and ranked as the streamer’s No. 1 series overall during its run. The eight-episode first season debuted November 6.

Flight Attendant has a 98% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes and Cuoco has received high praise for her comedic-dramatic turn as a woman continually coming to terms with her torturous past.

The series also stars Perez, Michiel Huisman, Zosia Mamet, Michelle Gomez, T.R. Knight, Colin Woodell, Merle Dandridge, Griffin Matthews and Nolan Gerard Funk.

HBO Max has made the series premiere episode of The Flight Attendant, starring the 56-year-old Puerto Rican actress and community activist, available to stream now for free ahead of its Thursday, November 26 premiere.

The comedic dark thriller starring and executive produced by Kaley Cuoco will debut with three episodes on Thanksgiving Day.

Following its debut on HBO Max, the series’ premiere episode will also air on HBO linear channel, On Demand, and on select partners’ streaming platforms starting on Friday, November 27 at 10:00 pm ET/PT during a Free Preview Weekend offered by participating partners, as well as on TBS at 10:30 pm ET/PT on Sunday, November 29 as part of an HBO Max-themed marathon over Thanksgiving weekend.

The limited series continues with two new episodes on December 3, followed by two new episodes on December 10, leading up to the finale episode on December 17.

HBO Max has set Thursday, November 26 for the premiere of The Flight Attendant, featuring the 56-year-old Puerto Rican actress and activist.

The series stars Kaley Cuoco, who also produced the project.

The streaming service also unveiled the key art, featuring Cuoco, with the tagline “A Deadly Mystery With A Turbulent Descent.”

The Flight Attendant is among shows whose production was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It resumed production in New York this fall after shutting down in March.

Torres Lands Recurring Role on ABC’s “The Catch”

Gina Torres has landed The Catch of the day…

The 47-year-old Cuban American actress has landed a recurring role on the second season of the ABC drama series The Catch, from Shonda RhimesShondaLand and ABC Studios.

As usual with ShondaLand shows, no details about Torres’ character have been revealed.

Executive produced by Rhimes, The Catch centers on Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos), a private investigator for high-end clients. Torres joins T.R. Knight, who also was recently cast in a recurring role.

Torres just wrapped her starring role as Jessica Pearson on USA Network’s Suits in this week’s Season 6 summer finale, having been with the legal drama series since its launch.

At ABC and ABC Studios, Torres toplined the drama pilot The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez this past season and previously recurred on Revenge

Her other notable television roles include the shotgun-toting mercenary Zoe Washburne on Joss Whedon’s Firefly, (she also played the character in Whedon’s feature Serenity), the soul-eating Jasmine on Whedon’s Angel and a recurring gig on NBC’s Hannibal

Torres film work includes The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions and I Think I Love My Wife opposite Chris Rock.

Amazon to Debut Canto’s Pilot “Hysteria” Online for Customer Feedback

The electronic ecommerce site will debut its third pilot season on August 28 on Amazon Instant Video in the U.S. and the United Kingdom as well as Amazon’s instant video app.

And it appears Canto’s latest project Hysteria is one of the five pilots to make the grade, with Amazon posting the pilot episodes online and inviting its customers to give their feedback.

Hysteria takes viewers to Austin, Texas, where social connection has become contagious. In the pilot, members of a girls’ competitive dance team are stricken with a strange, psycho-physiological illness that manifests itself in violent fits and spasms and then begins spreading in the community through technology.

Neurologist Logan Harlen (portrayed by Mena Suvari) returns to her hometown to investigate the cause. Fighting her own demons and the growing manipulation of a brother on death row, Logan develops an uneasy suspicion that the hysteria surrounding the girls might actually be linked to social media and her own tragic past.

The 32-year-old Mexican actor portrays Matt Sanchez in the pilot.

Written by Shaun Cassidy, known for genre thrillers like Invasion and American Gothic, and directed by Otto Bathurst, the show also stars James McDaniel, Josh Stewart, Laura San Giacomo and T.R. Knight.

 

Amazon Studios is collaborating with Universal Television and Alcon Television Group on the production of Hysteria.

Canto Starring in Amazon’s Dramatic Thriller Pilot “Hysteria”

It’s a time of hysteria for Adan Canto.

The 32-year-old Mexican actor is starring in Amazon’s hour-long dramatic thriller pilot Hysteria, from Amazon Studios, Universal Television and Alcon Television Group.

Amazon has added the program to its third pilot season.

From Shaun Cassidy, the series also stars Mena Suvari, James McDaniel, Josh Stewart, Laura San Giacomo and T.R. Knight.
