Banderas & His “Expendables 3” Castmates to Storm the Cannes Film Festival

It appears Antonio Banderas will be expendable at this year’s Cannes Film Festival…

The 53-year-old and his Expendables 3 castmates will make an appearance on Sunday, May 18.

Expendables 3

It’s being heralded as “one of the greatest assemblages of international star power — and muscle— that Cannes has ever seen” by Deadline.com, with 13 members of the cast participating in a complete day of events.

In addition to Banderas, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren, Kelsey Grammer, Randy Couture, Kellan Lutz, Victor Ortiz and Glen Powell will take part in the day’s program, alongside director Patrick Hughes.

Millennium Films officials say the day will start with a screening of footage from the movie, followed by Banderas and the gang arriving at the Carlton Hotel for a press conference and photo call.

The actors will reportedly arrive in armored vehicles, with banners representing each of the characters adorning the façade of the hotel.

Later that evening, there will be a big soirée at the Palm Beach nightclub.

Expendables 3 will begin rolling out across the globe on August 13.

Cameron Diaz: One of the “ExpendaBelles”?

Cameron Diaz could soon prove she’s one tough belle…

The 41-year-old half-Cuban American actress is one of the high-profile actresses being courted for The ExpendaBelles, the all-female version of Sylvester Stallone‘s The Expendables franchise.

In addition to the former Charlie’s Angels star, Millennium Films‘ chief Avi Lerner tells Bulgaria’s press Standart that he’s also courting Meryl Streep and Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich for the project.

The action film is expected to begin shooting in Bulgaria in the near future, once Lerner secures a female director to helm the project.

The script is written by Legally Blonde scribes Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith.

When the film was first announced last year, The Expendables 2 director Simon West offered his thoughts on his favorite actresses to join cast, “It would be Angelina Jolie, Diaz, Jovovich, the list goes on. Helen Mirren, Jamie Lee Curtis would be great.”

Envisioning the female gang as “seven or eight women mercenaries,” he said they would not be a direct replacement of Sly and co. in the franchise.

“No, it would be running parallel,” he said. “They would meet up and then they would fight and they would join up and save each other.”

No word yet on Banderas’ role in the Sylvester Stallone-starrer.

But Stallone is already looking forward to sharing the screen with Banderas once again; the two co-starred in 1995’s Assassins.

“He is a consummate actor and a gentleman,” Stallone said of Banderas in a statement to HuffPost Entertainment.

Along with Banderas, the cast includes Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Kellan Lutz and Victor Ortiz.

Rumored additional cast members are Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich.

Expect confirmations on the rumored cast members soon.

The Expendables 3, to be directed by Patrick Hughes, is scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 15, 2014.

Shahi Starring Opposite Stallone in “Bullet to the Head”

Sarah Shahi is having a Rocky time in Hollywood…

The 33-year-old half-Spanish actress, a guest star on NBC’s Chicago Fire and CBS’ Person of Interest, is adding a little sex appeal to Sylvester Stallone’s new action film Bullet to the Head.

BULLET TO THE HEAD

“Acting with him was one of those moments in life that I will always remember and will say ‘Wow! I played Stallone’s daughter!’ He’s a generous, cooperative guy on the set,” says the former Fairly Legal star.

Shahi plays Lisa, whose kidnapping forces Stallone, in his role as a killer-for-hire, to take on a mission to save her and avenge the death of his partner.

Bullet to the Head, the first film in 10 years directed by action-film specialist Walter Hill, features a cast that includes Sung Kang, Christian Slater and Jason Momoa.

“Walter is wonderful. For him, less is more while shooting,” says Shahi. “He’s an old-school man of few words. He only gives orders when he deems it necessary. He likes his actors and loves what he does.”

Shahi, who grew up in Texas and became a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader before pursuing an acting career, considers Bullet to the Head her most ambitious project to date.
