Isiah Pacheco Helps Lead Kansas City Chiefs to Second Consecutive Super Bowl Championship

The 24-year-old Puerto Rican professional football player, a running back for the Kansas City Chiefs, rushed the ball 18 times for 59 yards in Sunday’s 25-22 overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

Isiah PachecoPacheco added six receptions (on six targets) for 33 yards, including two receptions on the Chiefs’ game-winning drive in overtime.

Pacheco proudly draped himself in a Puerto Rican flag on Sunday night to celebrate the team’s third Super Bowl victory in just five years.

The two-time Super Bowl titleholder — whose father hails from Ponce, Puerto Rico — is unabashedly proud of his roots. At last year’s Super Bowl, Pacheco wore a helmet featuring the iconic flag of the Caribbean island and U.S. territory, now memorialized in the NFL Hall of Fame.

“I feel amazing,” Pacheco told Telemundo Deportes in English, after the victory on Sunday. “Mind, body and soul. Eliminated distractions. It took all 53 of us tonight to get the job done.”

He was recruited to play football for Rutgers University in 2017 and made his NFL debut after being drafted by the Chiefs in 2022. Pacheco has played in every game since then.

“It’s the hard work you put in, during season, at practice,” Pacheco said. “When something happens, you’re going through adversity, you shake it off. Next play.”

At the Super Bowl LVIII, Pacheco was vying for the title against a team with another player of Puerto Rican descent — San Francisco 49ers’ offensive lineman Jon Feliciano, whose father is from Añasco, Puerto Rico.

FanDuel is partnering with Spotify this year for its annual Super Bowl party, with the 40-year-old part-Mexican American singer, songwriter and actor co-headlining alongside Calvin Harris.

Kid CudiThe 2024 FanDuel Super Bowl Party powered by Spotify — which will be held at LIV inside the Las Vegas Strip’s newest resort, Fontainebleau Las Vegas, on Friday night, February 9 — is the company’s third annual Super Bowl event and will feature a live recording of The Ringer Gambling Show podcast with hosts John “JJ” Jastremski, Raheem Palmer and “Cousin Sal” Iacono.

On January 12, Kid Cudi released his ninth studio album, Insano, which features collaborations with Travis Scott, ASAP Rocky, Lil Yachty, Pharrell Williams, the late XXXTentacion, Lil Wayne and Young Thug.

The project debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums chart dated January 27.

The event comes just two days before Super Bowl LVIII at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium on Sunday (February 11), where the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the San Francisco 49ers for the championship.

It was announced in September that Usher would headline the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show. Usher also announced that his ninth album, Coming Home, will arrive on Super Bowl Sunday. This set marks his first new album since 2016’s Hard II Love, which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

Natalie Morales is headed to the Super Bowl…

The week of Super Bowl LVIII, CBS will offer weeklong, multi-platform coverage of the sporting event in sports, news and entertainment, including appearances by the 51-year-old Brazilian and Puerto Rican broadcast journalist and her The Talk co-hosts.

Natalie MoralesThe CBS talk show will broadcast live Monday through Friday, with Morales, Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood set to welcome celebrity guests and highlight the happenings in Sin City.

The programming is all in the lead up to CBS Sports’ presentation of the game on Sunday, February 11.

The network will use the famed Fountains of Bellagio as the backdrop of its central broadcast location.

The location will be home to shows from four CBS divisions across broadcast, cable, and streaming from Monday, February 5 to Sunday, February 11, with four outdoor sets shared across the various shows.

SUPER BOWL LIVE – Host Adam Zucker will be joined by a rotating cast of analysts, including Matt Ryan, Charles Davis, Kyle Long, Amy Trask, Trent Green, Kevin Carter, and Jonathan Jones each night, offering news and analysis. Reporters Aditi Kinkhabwala, AJ Ross and Tiffany Blackmon will also contribute to this and additional CBS Sports shows.

CBS SPORTS HQ – CBS Sports’ free, 24/7 streaming sports news network will provide coverage all week, including more than 40 hours of programming, culminating with an extended Super Bowl LVIII post-game show.

THAT OTHER PREGAME SHOW – Host Adam Schein, analysts Amy Trask, Kyle Long, Brock Vereen and Jonathan Jones will offer opinions, analysis, predictions and interviews, with appearances by analysts from The NFL Today.

WE NEED TO TALK – CBS Sports’ all-women sports show will air a special episode, hosted by AJ Ross, Aditi Kinkhabwala, Andrea Kremer, and Amy Trask.

THE JIM ROME SHOW – The afternoon radio show, hosted by Jim Rome, is live Monday through Friday and simulcast on CBS Sports Network.

TIME TO SCHEIN – Adam Schein hosts the hour-long weekday talk show, covering the world of sports with interviews and commentary.

Teofimo Lopez Finalizing Deal to Defend WBO Junior Welterweight Against Jamaine Ortiz in February

He 26-year-old Honduran American boxer and Jamaine Ortiz are finalizing a deal to fight for Lopez’s WBO junior welterweight title on February 8 in Las Vegas, sources told ESPN.

Teofimo LopezThe 140-pound championship bout will headline Top Rank Boxing on ESPN on a Thursday evening, three days before Super Bowl LVIII is played in the same city.

Lopez, one of boxing’s rising stars, is coming off a superb performance in June, when he dominated Josh Taylor via unanimous decision to become a two-division champion.

The triumph was a rebound of sorts for Lopez, who struggled to earn a split decision over Sandor Martin six months earlier. Taylor was the undisputed champion but vacated three of his four titles ahead of the Lopez fight.

Lopez (19-1, 13 KOs) briefly claimed retirement after the victory but reversed course soon after. The 26-year-old, who fights out of Las Vegas, is ESPN‘s No. 2 boxer at 140 pounds. Lopez’s career-best performance remains his unanimous decision victory over future Hall of Famer Vasiliy Lomachenko in October 2020. Lopez went on to lose his lightweight championship to George Kambosos in ESPN’s 2021 Upset of the Year.

And it was against Lomachenko that Ortiz (17-1-1, 8 KOs) proved his capability at the top level.

The 27-year-old from Worcester, Massachusetts, was in control during the first half of the October 2022 bout — Ortiz was a 12-1 underdog — before he faded down the stretch. But before he did, he displayed his jab, strength and athleticism against an all-time great.

That performance followed his breakthrough win over former titleholder Jamel Herring earlier that year. Now, Ortiz will move up to 140 pounds for his first world title shot. And it comes against a fighter with whom he shares a history.

It was Lopez who defeated Ortiz in the 2015 National Golden Gloves Quarterfinal. Nearly 10 years later, they meet again with far greater stakes.

“I was impressed by Ortiz, really,” Lopez told Fight Hub after the Ortiz-Lomachenko bout. “I think overall Jamaine Ortiz is still seasoned enough to give everybody else bigger and better fights as well.”
