Maldonado & Pentatonix Release Cover of Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be”

It looks like Kirstie Maldonado has another smash hit cover on her hands…

The half-Mexican American/part-Spanish artist and her fellow Pentatonix group mates have released another catchy reinterpretation.

Pentatonix

The Streamy Award-winning a capella group’s upcoming EP, PTX Vol. III, comes out on September 23, and as a tease, their cover of Clean Bandit‘s “Rather Be” has made its way online.

Pentatonix, the winners of NBC‘s singing competition The Sing-Off in 2011, sticks to what they do best in their latest song, and it’s another hit for Maldonado, Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Avi Kaplan and beatboxer Kevin Olusola.

“We’re huge fans of Clean Bandit, and we’re so excited to be covering this!” Grassi told People about the song off PTX Vol. III, which also includes an already-released cover of “Problem” by Ariana Grande.

Mota Earns Her First-Ever Streamy Award for Fashion Program of the Year

Bethany Mota is a stream sensation…

The 18-year-old half-Mexican YouTube vlogger and fashionista and soon-to-be contestant on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars has won her first-ever Streamy Award.

Bethany Mota

During Sunday’s show at the Beverly Hilton International Ballroom, Mota was named the winner in the Fashion Program category at the 4th annual Streamy Awards, which recognize and honor excellence in online video.

The beauty guru’s YouTube channel — macbarbie07 — has seven million subscribers and features Mota’s hair, makeup, fashion and DIY tutorials. It earned her a fashion line at Aéropostale, and she was featured as part of a YouTube ad campaign.

Meanwhile, Enchufe.tv received the Audience Award for Show of the Year. The Ecuadorian web series consists of comedic sketches viewed primarily on its YouTube channels, as well as on Ecuadorian television channel Ecuavisa. Ecuadorian filmmakers Leonardo Robalino, Christian Moya, Martín Domínguez and Jorge Ulloa created the channel.

In all, 14 awards were doled out Sunday night. Some awards were previously announced during a reception at YouTube Space LA on Thursday night, including Kirstie Maldonado and her fellow Pentatonix group mates for Best Cover Song.

Meanwhile, Four YouTubers were also presented with the first ever Streamy ICON Awards, which were handed out Friday night at a private dinner at Santa Monica’s 41 Ocean. The award recipients included vlogger Tyler Oakley for his LGBT activism, musician Pitbull for embracing digital, entrepreneur Shay Carl for building an online media empire and beauty blogger Michelle Phan This year’s awards show was

Pitbull to Receive ICON Award at This Year’s Streamy Awards

Pitbull isn’t just a music idol… He’s also an icon.

The 33-year-old Cuban American rap superstar and Latin Grammy winner will be feted at this weekend’s Streamy Awards.

Pitbull

Pitbull, who is launching his own Sirius XM channel in the near future, is being heralded as an online-entertainment pioneer with one of the Streamy Awards’ new ICONS awards.

He’ll be honored at a Friday night reception and during the Streamys main event Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton.

Pitbull will get an ICON award as both a successful musician, having sold 5 million albums worldwide, and as owner of his own production company, Honey I’m Home, with an overall TV and digital deal at Endemol North America.

The Streamys are being produced by Tubefilter and dick clark productions.

Kirstie Maldonado and her fellow Pentatonix members lead the pack of Latino nominees for this year’s awards. The a cappella group is up for Cover Song, Musical Artist andOriginal Song.

Other Latino nominees include YouTube sensations Bethany Mota and Maiah Ocando, as well as former American Idol finalist Andrew Garcia.

Maldonado and Her Pentatonix Group Mates Receive Three Streamy Award Nominations

They’re already YouTube Music Award winners… And, now Kirstie Maldonado and her fellow Pentatonix members have the chance to increase their online award haul.

The half-Mexican American/part-Spanish artist and her a cappella group have earned three nominations for the fourth Streamy Awards, which recognize the best in online video.

Pentatonix

Maldonado and Pentatonix, who won NBC‘s singing competition The Sing-Off in 2011, are nominated for Cover Song for their popular “Daft Punk Mashup,” which has garnered more than 87 million views on YouTube. They’re up against former American Idol contestant Andrew Garcia, Andy Lange, Chester See and Josh Golden’s rendition of Katy Perry’s Roar, among other nominees.

Pentatonix are also vying for a Streamy Award in the Musical Artist category. The a capella group, which will release two new albums this year, will compete against Boyce Avenue, Chester See, Cimorelli and Lindsey Stirling.

Lastly, Maldonado and her crew are nominated in the Original Song category. They’re nominated for their single “Love Again.” The song’s official video has garnered more than 10 million views on YouTube.

But Maldonado and Garcia aren’t the only Latino nominees…

YouTube sensation Bethany Mota, aka MacBarbie07, has earned a nod in the Channel, Show, or Series – Fashion category. The 18-year-old Mexican and Portuguese vlogger’s YouTube channel is also up for an Audience Choice Award for Entertainer of the Year. She has generated an estimated $40,000 per month and garnered over 300 million views since she launched it. The “Mota-vator” is an inspiration to pre-teens everywhere who’ve ever struggled with boredom, shyness and bullying. And she’s turned her online success into a fashion empire, even launching the Bethany Mota Clothing and Accessories line at Aeropostale.

Meanwhile, Maiah Ocando has earned three Streamy Award nods. The Venezuelan Spanish-speaking YouTube star, whose channel Visto Bueno has 319,705 subscribers, is nominated for Channel, Show, or Series – Fashion category and First Person – Special. She’ll also compete for the Audience Choice Award for Entertainer of the Year.

In all, this year’s, Streamy Awards will recognize excellence in 47 categories.

“If the caliber of this year’s nominees is any indication, we’re on track for the biggest Streamys ever,” said Executive Producer Drew Baldwin, also the co-founder of Tubefilter. “As the leading producer of live events, dick clark productions is the best possible partner for a show that honors the ever-evolving digital landscape and pioneers who are shaping the future of mainstream entertainment.”

This year’s awards include several new categories, including gaming, beauty, sports, pranks and science and education.

Sixteen of the winners will be announced live at a September 7 ceremony at the Beverly Hilton, to be produced by dick clark productions.

The awards show will be streamed online on www.streamys.org.
