Ryan Guzman to Star in the Family Comedy “The Present”

The 34-year-old half-Mexican American actor has replaced Ross Butler in the family comedy The Present.

Ryan GuzmanFrom director Christian Ditter, the film will now star Guzman alongside Isla Fisher, Greg Kinnear, Easton Rocket Sweda, Shay Rudolph and Mason Shea Joyce.

The reasons for Butler’s departure haven’t been disclosed.

In the film from Stuart Ford’s independent content studio AGC Studios, a brilliant boy discovers he can manipulate time using an enchanted family heirloom, then teaming up with his siblings to go back to the eve of their parents’ separation in hopes of changing the outcome. As their schemes become more elaborate, the siblings will learn about family bonds and what they can and can’t control.

Fisher and Kinnear are playing the parents in search of reconciliation, with Sweda, Rudolph and Joyce portraying the siblings who just might be the only people who can make that happen.

The Present was written by Emmy winner Jay Martel (Key and Peele).

Ford, who serves as Chairman and CEO of AGC Studios, is producing alongside Linda McDonough for the company, with Marcei Brown and Jessica Malanaphy for CatchLightStudios.

Guzman is best known for his role as firefighter Eddie Diaz on Fox’s 9-1-1 and has also been seen on such series as NotoriousHeroes Reborn and Pretty Little Liars.

His big-screen credits include Step Up Revolution and Step Up All In, as well Everybody Wants Some!! and Jem and the Holograms.

Ryan Guzman to Star in the 9/11-Themed Drama “Windows on the World”

The 29-year-old half-Mexican American actor will star opposite Edward James Olmos in the feature film Windows on the World, a father-son drama about the aftermath of 9/11, according to Variety.

Shooting will begin on July 10 in Mexico and New York City.

Olmos’ son Michael D. Olmos will direct from a script by Robert Mailer Anderson and Zack Anderson.

“Windows on the World” will start in Mexico, where a man watches the news on September 11, 2001, with his family and travels to New York City to find his father, who was working on the top floor of the Twin Towers. The Windows on the World venues were on the top floors of the North Tower.

Guzman rose to fame in Step Up: Revolution and Step Up All In, then starred in The Boy Next Door with Jennifer Lopez, Jem and the Holograms, and in Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some.

Olmos broke out in 1981’s Zoot Suit and 1982’s Blade Runner. He was nominated for a best actor Academy Award for Stand and Deliver and starred in the series Battlestar Galactica and Miami Vice. He is reprising his role as Gaff in the upcoming Blade Runner 2049.

Michael D. Olmos has directing credits on Filly Brown, The Green Ghost, and Bedrooms.

Guzman to Star in ABC’s Drama Pilot “Notorious”

There’s a notorious role in Ryan Guzman’s future…

The 28-year-old half-Mexican American actor has landed a series regular role opposite Piper Perabo and Daniel Sunjata in ABC’s drama pilot Notorious.

Hailing from Sony Pictures Television and Jeff Kwatinetz’s The Firm, the project was inspired by the relationship between famed criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and longtime Larry King Live executive producer Wendy Walker.

Written by Drop Dead Diva creator Josh Berman and blogger Allie Hagan, Notorious is described as a provocative look at the interplay of criminal law and the media. It follows the professional and personal relationship between charismatic attorney Jake Gregorian (Sunjata) and powerhouse television producer Julia George (Perabo) as they attempt to control the media, the justice system, and ultimately each other.

Guzman will play Ryan Mills, Julia’s eager-to-please intern, son of the network president. Despite his youth and innocent facade, he’s ambitious and conniving, desperate to prove himself to his overbearing father.

Guzman, who rose to acclaim after starring in Step Up Revolution, most recently starred as Carlos Gutierrez on NBC’s Heroes Reborn and in the cartoon-based film Jem and The Holograms. His other credits include The Boy Next Door.

He can next be seen in Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some.

Thorne to Star Opposite Patrick Schwarzenegger in the YA Film “Midnight Sun”

The 17-year-old half-Cuban American actress-singer will star opposite Patrick Schwarzenegger in Midnight Sun, a Young Adult (YA) love story.

Based on a 2006 Japanese film, Midnight Sun centers on Katie (Thorne), a 17-year-old sheltered since childhood and confined to her house during the day by a rare disease that makes even the smallest amount of sunlight deadly. Fate intervenes when she meets Charlie (Schwarzenegger) and they embark on a summer romance.

Scott Speer (Step Up: Revolution) is set to direct the film from a script by Eric Kirsten, with a September shooting start planned.

Thorne, a former Disney Channel star, recently signed on to the AwesomenessTV movie Shovel Buddies and is attached to the ABC Family drama project Famous In Love from Pretty Little Liars exec producer/showrunner I. Marlene King.

She’ll next appear on television on MTV’s new series Scream.

Rodriguez Cast in Will Forte’s Fox Comedy Series “Last On Earth”

The 41-year-old Latino actor has been cast in Last On Earth, creator/star Will Forte’s midseason single-camera comedy series for Fox.

The straight-to-series project, whose pilot episode will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, chronicles the life and adventures of an average guy (Forte) – and humanity’s last hope – who discovers what life is like when no one is telling you what you can and cannot do.

Rodriguez, who most recently starred in HBO’s Getting On, will play the always optimistic Todd.

In addition to Forte and Rodriguez, the series will also star Mad Men’s January Jones, Kristen Schaal (Flight of the Conchords) and Cleopatra Coleman (Step Up Revolution).

Ryan Guzman is stepping up again…

Lionsgate/Summit Entertainment has released the first official trailer for Step Up All In, starring the 26-year-old half-Mexican American actor.

For this latest Step Up film, the fifth installment of the movie franchise, Guzman and his fellow cast mates take the 3D dance action to Las Vegas.

In addition to Guzman, who first appeared in Step Up Revolution, the film also stars Step Up vets Briana Evigan (Step Up 2: The Streets), Stephen “tWitch” Boss, Misha Gabriel, Alyson Stoner and Adam Sevani.

The film is directed by first-time helmer Trish Sie.

Summit Entertainment has released the trailer for Step Up: All In, the fifth installment of the popular Step Up franchise, starring the 26-year-old half-Mexican American actor.

Guzman, who starred as Sean Asa in 2012’s Step Up Revolution, will see his character dance another day.

Director Trish Sie makes her feature film-helming debut with the 3D pic, which takes familiar characters from the Step Up films on a new Vegas-set danceventure scripted by John Swetnam.

Guzman and Briana Evigan lead the cast, which includes Izabella Miko and series returners Luis Rosado, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, Misha Gabriel, Alyson Stoner and Adam Sevani.

In this, the fifth chapter of the popular Step Up franchise, Guzman will reprise his role as Sean from 2012’s Step Up Revolution.

He’ll star opposite Step Up 2: The Street’s Briana Evigan in the Trish Sie-directed Step Up 5.

Guzman, who most recently appeared in a recurring role on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars, has been cast opposite Jennifer Lopez in the thriller The Boy Next Door.

The 25-year-old half-Mexican actor and Step Up Revolution star will star opposite  Step Up 2: The Street’s Briana Evigan in the Summit Entertainment dance franchise Step Up 5.

Guzman and Evigan will reprise their roles as Sean and Andie, respectively, as the fivequel reunites more than a dozen cast members from previous films in the franchise.

Despite being rumored for another franchise appearance, original Step Up star Channing Tatum is not among the returning cast confirmed by the studio.

Fan favorites Adam Sevani (Moose), Misha Gabriel (Eddy), Alyson Stoner (Camille), Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss (Jason), Mari Koda (Jenny Kido), Chris Scott (Hair), Luis Rosado (Monster), Chadd Smith (Vladd AKA Robot Guy), and Martin & Facundo Lombard (The Santiago Twins) will return for the fifth film in the franchise.

Series dancers Marc “Marvelous” Iniss, Nolan Padilla, Phillip Chbeeb, Bianca Brewton, Tony Bellissimo, Josue “Beastmode” Figueroa and Brandy Lamkim will also return for the sequel being directed by Trish Sie.

Also joining Step Up 5 is Izabella Miko in a supporting role. Miko will play Alexxa, the entertainment director for luxury Vegas hotel Valhalla, who hosts a dance contest to find the best crew in the world. The winning team inks a three-year contract to perform in Vegas.

Jennifer Lopez’s “On the Floor” video was the most-watched music video on YouTube last year… And, it looks like she could be back on top this year with her latest video…

The 42-year-old Puerto Rican singer/actress, who recently announced she wouldn’t be returning to the American Idol judges table, debuted the oh-so-colorful clip for her latest single “Goin’ In” on MTV on Wednesday night.

The eye-popping video showcases la Lopez’s haute style as she shows off her mad dance skills in several sparkly outfits on set complete with neon lights and bright walls.

And since the Flo Rida-assisted track is part of the soundtrack to Step Up Revolution, the video includes clips from the dancetastic film.

When asked why she chose Flo Rida as her guest collaborator, J.Lo told MTV News, ” I just think that the style of the song really fit [Flo Rida]. It was half-dance, but half kind of hard too, you know, and I just felt like he was the perfect one.”

Flo Rida was thrilled to be a part of the song.

“I’m a big fan of J.Lo. Her people reached out to me. It was just an honor to get a call from J.Lo,” he gushes.

 

The song is also included on J.Lo’s greatest hits album Dance Again: The Hits [Deluxe Version], which was released this week.
