Bad Bunny Announces Ambitious 29-Date Summer Stadium Tour for 2022

He hasn’t even launched his highly anticipated tour, but Bad Bunny’s already thinking bigger…

After selling out his 36-date El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo arena tour in record time, the 27-year-old Puerto Rican rapper, singer, songwriter and actor has announced an ambitious 29-date stadium tour for 2022.

Bad Bunny

Promoted by Live Nation and CMN, Bad Bunny: World’s Hottest Tour will kick off on August 5 at Campus Stadium in Orlando, and will make 15 U.S. stops, including Yankee Stadium in New York, Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, and Fenway Park in Boston.\

Bad Bunny announced the stadium tour before even playing a single show from his upcoming El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo tour, which kicks off on February 9.

It’s great news for the thousands of fans who weren’t able to score tickets for El Ultimo Tour del Mundo, which sold out in days.

The World’s Hottest Tour also comes with a bonus: In the U.S., Bunny will feature DJ Alesso as a guest for 11 dates, and Diplo as a guest at two dates, including the final show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles September 30.

The tour then continues to Latin America for 14 stops in October, including Estadio Velez in Buenos Aires and Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.

Tickets will go on pre-sale Wednesday (Jan. 26) at 12 p.m. via worldshottesttour.com, and goes on sale to the general public on Friday, January 28, also at 12 p.m.

The tour announcement was followed very quickly by a new album announcement, which Bad Bunny made via a video on Instagram reels.

Bad Bunny’s tour may be the most ambitious for a Latin artist ever in the U.S. But then again, he’s been on a record-breaking streak for the past three years.

Bad Bunny (real name Benito Martínez Ocasio) was the top selling Latin artist of 2021 for the third consecutive year, according to MRC Data, and the most streamed artist globally on Spotify for the second consecutive year.

He is also the first artist to place an all-Spanish album at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

On the live front, in 2021 Bad Bunny sold 480,000 tickets and grossed $84 million in a single day when his 2022 El Último Tour del Mundo tour went on sale. It became Ticketmaster’s top-selling tour for a first day since Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s On the Run II Tour in 2018.

In December 2021, Bad Bunny played back-to-back shows at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in Puerto Rico, staging a festival-like performance that included multiple stages and environments. Whether this will serve as the template for Bunny’s upcoming stadium tour remains to be seen.

Here are the tour dates:

Tiago PZK Signs Recording Deal with Warner Music Latina, via Partnership with Grand Move Records

Tiago PZK has a new recording deal…

The 20-year-old soulful Argentine singer and rapper, who has already placed three songs on the Billboard Global Excl U.S. chart, has signed a recording deal with Warner Music Latina, via a partnership with indie Grand Move Records.

Tiago PZK

Tiago PZK, whose real name is Tiago Uriel Pacheco, uses the suffix PZK in honor of his freestyle crew in Argentina, but his music defies categorization, often shifting from R&B and pop to rap.

Moreover, instead of resorting to the sexually explicit lyrics that define so many reggaetón hits today, Tiago’s themes lean more toward love and loss and his own journey from the housing projects of Buenos Aires to nascent fame.

His breakout single “Sola,” for example, talks about his childhood and his mother’s abuse at the hands of his father.

Tiago PZK’s signing to Warner makes him the youngest in a string of urban-leaning acts defining a new Argentina music scene that includes acts like Nicki Nicole, Duki, Maria Becerra, Cazzu and Paulo Londra who are making waves internationally.

News of his deal coincides with this week’s release of the remix of “Entre Nosotros” with fellow Argentines Killah, Nicki Nicole and Maria Becerra.

The original track alongside Killah, which has garnered more than 212 million views on YouTube, was No 1 on Argentina’s Billboard charts entered the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart last year. The remix is this week’s highest entry on Spotify’s Top Songs Global chart at No. 44.

“For me, having signed with Warner was a very big step professionally; it is good to be able to enlarge the team and know that much bigger projects are coming with the support of a company full of good and hardworking people, willing to give it their all in order for us to take the world ahead. I am very happy and grateful,” said Tiago PZK.

Tiago began gaining notoriety around 2016 with his participation in local rap battles in Argentina and his self-released track, “Andamo en la Cima.” In 2019, he signed to indie SyP Recors in Argentina, eventually catching the eye of concert promoter Phil Rodriguez, the CEO of Move Concerts, one of Latin America’s biggest indie promoters. Rodriguez signed Tiago to management and to his new Grand Move Records label.

Moving to a major label was the next step for an act with increasing international traction. Alejandro Duque, president of Warner Music Latina, set his sights on Tiago since he was appointed to his post in mid 2021. Now, the new deal includes both future and past works.

“He is a young artist with a great ambition and a natural talent,” Duque said in a statement. “His lyrics resonate with a massive audience. At his young age and short musical career Tiago PZK, has managed to make his music known not only in Argentina but has placed several of his singles on the Billboard and Spotify Global 200 Charts. Our goal at Warner is to lead Tiago PZK to conquer the world and become a global superstar.”

“Our decision to close with Warner Latin was not taken lightly,” says Rodríguez, a veteran executive who has worked in some capacity with most Latin industry leaders. “The deal closer was the enthusiasm and commitment that Alejandro Duque and the Warner Latina team transmitted to us at every step on the negotiations. Tiago PZK is a unique and amazing artist that truly is “the real deal.”

Last year, Tiago signed a publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing Latin America.

Bad Bunny is changing things up…

The 27-year-old Puerto Rican Grammy-winning reggaeton and Latin trap singer recently deleted all of the posts from his official Instagram account, which boasts 36.8 million followers, including fellow artists like DrakeRihannaJennifer Lopez and Lil Nas X.

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny, who ranked as No. 1 on the Top Latin Artists chart on Billboard‘s 2021 Year-End Charts, has now joined TikTok.

In his first post on Saturday (Jan. 1), the artist holds up a large mug on the morning after what appears to be a celebratory night of partying on New Year’s Eve with his girlfriend Gabriela Berlingeri.

“2022, the ‘damned’ part is just out of love, I know you will be a good year,” Bad Bunny captioned the clip, which references lyrics to his song “Si Veo a Tu Mama,” heard playing in the background.

Bad Bunny was not only Billboard’s Top Latin Artist of the year, but also Spotify’s most streamed artist globally in any genre.

In 2021, he scored a threepeat thanks to chart-topping albums YHLQMDLGLas Que No Iban a Salir and El Último Tour del Mundo — all peaking at No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart.

Additionally, El Conejo Malo placed the No. 1 song, “Dákiti” with Jhay Cortez, on the year-end Hot Latin Songs chart.

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You” Reaches 1 Billion Streams on Spotify

Mariah Carey continues making history this holiday season..

The 52-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning singer hit yet another extra-festive milestone Wednesday as she celebrated “All I Want for Christmas is You” reaching 1 billion streams on Spotify.

Mariah Carey“Thank you @spotify, the #lambily, and everyone who streams this song to add a little bit of festivity to the season! I truly appreciate each and every one of these 1 billion streams!” the icon captioned the photo of herself posing with the commemorative plaque marking the achievement dressed in a glam metallic puffer coat, sparkling beanie, sheer black leggings and matching boots.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Carey’s modern Christmas classic made a historic return to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for a third consecutive year.

Ever the trailblazer, the unprecedented achievement officially makes Carey the first artist in history to land the same song at No. 1 on the chart three separate times.

She’s also been spreading holiday cheer around the country for the last couple of weeks thanks to the McDonald’s Mariah Menu, which gives fans a free daily treat with a $1 purchase when they order on the McDonald’s app through Christmas Eve (Dec. 25).

Ten-thousand lucky Lambs also got their hands on a limited-edition Mariah x McDonald’s T-shirt earlier this week as part of the campaign.

Thiaguinho Signs New Record Deal with Virgin Music

It’s a big deal for Thiaguinho

The 38-year-old Brazilian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has signed a record deal with Virgin Music, according to Billboard.

Thiaguinho

In hopes of catapulting Thiaguinho to mainstream success, the signing — which took place in Miami — comes on the heels of a “new cycle on Thiaguinho’s career, envisioning his international career such as the development of his new projects,” according to a statement from the company own by Universal Music Group.

“It’s with a great pleasure for me to join forces with Virgin to take my art and the culture of our country to new places and even more people. I’m very grateful and I’m excited for the start of this work,” Thiaguinho said in a statement.

Miguel Cariello, general director of Virgin Music Brasil, added: “I’m happy for having another dreaming coming true. Thiaginho, just like Virgin is synonyms with boldness and joy. We’ll use these attributes that we have in common to fly even higher, to further strengthen the career of this great artist in Brazil and seek to break through the borders across the world.”

With more than three million listeners on Spotify and over two million YouTube subscribers, the Latin Grammy-nominated artist is an exponent of traditional Brazilian genres such as samba and pagode, which he fuses with pop and R&B.

“Thiaguinho has been part of the Brazilian music scene from a young age, becoming one of the most successful artists of the Pagode and Samba genres,” stated Jesús López, chairman/CEO Universal Music Latin America & Iberian Peninsula. “His determination to extend his success outside of Brazil and that he has chosen Virgin Music as his travel companion, gives us great joy and also responsibility.”

Bad Bunny: This Year’s Most-Streamed Artist Globally on Spotify

It’s a second consecutive year at the top for Bad Bunny.

Spotify has revealed its annual end-of-year list of the platform’s most-streamed artists, songs, albums and podcasts, with the 27-year-old Puerto Rican Latin trap and reggaeton superstar named the most-streamed artist globally.

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny notched more than 9.1 billion streams on the platform globally to top the list ahead of Taylor SwiftBTSDrake and Justin Bieber.

In the United States, Drake dominated all artists on the platform, while Swift, Juice WRLDKanye West and Bad Bunny rounded out the top five.

The most-streamed song of the year globally was Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license,” which racked up more than 1.1 billion streams worldwide. Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” earned second place, followed by The Kid Laroi and Bieber’s “Stay,” Rodrigo’s “good 4 u” and Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” feat. DaBaby.

Gina Rodriguez Joins Voice Cast of Spotify’s “Batman Unburied” Scripted Podcast Series

Gina Rodriguez is unburying her latest project…

The 37-year-old Puerto Rican actress will join the cast of Spotify’s upcoming Batman Unburied scripted podcast series.

Gina Rodriguez

Rodriguez, who won a Golden Globe for her work on Jane the Virgin, will voice the character of Barbara Gordon.

Rodriguez, who has featured on Netflix’s animated series Big Mouth, will play the daughter of former police commissioner Jim Gordon and star detective for Gotham PD.

Throughout the series, Barbara will grapple with her own ethics, as she tries to keep within the lines of police work yet is finding herself drawn to Batman’s self-styled method of justice.

She said she was excited to be going on this “sonic adventure” with the “iconic” role.

She joins a cast that already includes Winston Duke as Bruce Wayne and Jason Isaacs as Wayne’s loyal butler and right-hand man, Alfred.

Rounding out the cast of David S. Goyer’s take on the Caped Crusader is Sam Witwer (Supergirl) as Gotham’s cannibalistic serial killer, The Harvester, Emmy Raver-Lampman (The Umbrella Academy) as Kell, a sultry medical student helping Bruce while hiding a few secrets of her own, Jessica Marie Garcia (On My Block) as Barbara Gordon’s partner Renee Montoya – she’s smart enough to pick up Barbara’s bullshit, but begrudgingly puts up with her shady behavior and Jim Pirri (Penguins of Madasacar) as Arnold Flass, a corrupt cop who uses his badge for his own person gain.

Hasan Minhaj stars as The Riddler, Lance Reddick is Thomas Wayne, Toks Olagundoye is Martha Wayne, John Rhys-Davies is Dr. Hunter, and Ashly Burch is Vicki Vale.

The series, which marks one of the highest profile scripted podcasts to date, is a psychological thriller that takes listeners deep into the mind of Bruce Wayne introducing a slew of dark twists and turns with a number of classic Batman Super-Villains.

When audiences meet Bruce Wayne he is a forensic pathologist, working in the bowels of Gotham Hospital and tasked with examining the victims of The Harvester, a gruesome serial killer preying on Gotham’s citizens. Not only will the Super-Hero be forced to face his own mental demons, but he will also have to overcome them in order to save the citizens of Gotham as his alter-ego Batman.

Writers include Eric Carrasco (Supergirl), Saladin Ahmed (Foundation), Rebecca Klingel (The Haunting of Hill House) and Stranger Things writers’ assistant Graham Westerson.

Ivy Queen Among Latin Recording Academy’s ‘Leading Ladies of Entertainment’ Honorees

Ivy Queen is officially a leading lady

The 49-year-old Puerto Rican singer, rapper, songwriter and actress will be minted as one of the 2021 Leading Ladies of Entertainment by the Latin Recording Academy.

Ivy Queen

Ivy Queen, known as the “Queen of Reggaeton,” joins a list of honorees that includes composer Mónica Vélez, publicist and marketer Mayna Nevarez and Spotify’s managing director for Latin America, Mia Nygren.

Due to limitations imposed by COVID-19, the four women, representing different arenas of Latin music, will be honored during a virtual ceremony November 16 instead of the traditional lunch that has defined the event.

Launched five years ago, the Academy’s Leading Latin Ladies initiative was created to honor and recognize “professional and socially-conscious women within the arts and entertainment fields who have made significant contributions and inspired the next generation of female leaders.”

Since its inception, the initiative has honored both artists and musicians along with executives, and this year is no exception.

Ivy Queen, considered the pioneer female artist in reggaetón, is being honored alongside Vélez, a two-time Latin Grammy winner who has written for the likes of Marc Anthony and Luis Fonsi. But she’s also being honored with Nygren, who oversees Spotify’s Latin America operations, and Nevarez, whose company – Nevarez Entertainment — is the longtime agency of superstars like Daddy Yankee and Carlos Vives.

This year the event is also partnering with She Is The Music on a collaborative mentorship program that will pair past honorees with a She Is The Music mentee.

“On behalf of The Latin Recording Academy, I am proud to honor these powerful women as this year’s Leading Ladies of Entertainment,” said Manuel Abud, CEO of The Latin Recording Academy, in a statement. “These dynamic women give us a chance to reflect on the challenges female professionals face in today’s arts and entertainment environment. There is still a lack of gender parity in the industry, and we remain focused on continuing our work to overcome the challenges that women face through educational programs, partnerships and a transparent voting process.”

Sessi has a million reasons to smile…

Following its release in March, the Puerto Rican and Cuban American singer’s single “2C” has surpassed the one million streams mark on Spotify, becoming the emerging artist’s first single to join the millions club.

The track was produced by Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum producer Gavriel “Vein” Rafael.

“The dream is free, but the hustle is sold separately,” Sessi tells Billboard. “Hitting a million streams is a major milestone for me. As an emerging artist, and ‘2C’ being only my third single, it means my hustle and talent is not going unnoticed. I’m thankful to God, my team, and my supporters for never giving up on me.”
