DJ Luian to Make Feature Debut in Indie Horror Film “You Lose You Die”

The 33-year-old Puerto Rican DJ and producer is set to make his feature debut in Carlos “Spiff TV” Suarez’s indie horror film You Lose You Die.

DJ Lujan joins previously announced stars Freddy Rodriguez, who also executive produces, Ashley Elizabeth Fliehr (WWE star Charlotte Flair) and Anuel AA, who will also be making his feature debut.

Shooting is due to wrap imminently in the Dominican Republic and the project will be shopped following post-production.

You Lose You Die follows sociopathic tech expert Mr. Fantastik (Rodriguez), who runs a popular show on the dark web with two other sociopathic tech experts, Ms. Perfect (Fliehr) and Mr. Creep (Anthony Alvarez). On the show, thousands of viewers vote on games and challenges for prisoners to participate in. If the prisoners lose, viewers vote on the weapons the sociopaths use to kill them.

In addition to DJ Lujan, who plays Ice Pick, the cast includes Josh Bredl as Mr. Large, Sophia Zimba as Kara, Ashley Hernandez as Julie, Alejandro Duran as Alfonso, Noah Crider as Chase, Marcella Acuña as Christie, Mercy Grant as Darling and Lydia Faith Gomez as Jamie.

Rodriguez, Josue “Sway” Mendez and Ulysses Terrero serve as executive producers, with Mendez also producing.

DJ Luian has collaborated with Daddy Yankee, Nicky Jam, J Balvin and Ozuna.

His notable songs include “La Ocasión, “Mia” featuring Drake and Bad Bunny and “Sensualidad.”

With “Mia,” he reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2015, DJ Luian co-founded the music label Hear This Music with Mambo Kingz and is credited with discovering and signing global superstar Bad Bunny, whose breakthrough hit “Diles” was released under the label.

The 49-year-old Puerto Rican actor and Emmy-nominee will star in Averted Vision Pictures indie horror/thriller You Lose You Die, written by Carlos “Spiff TV” Suarez, who will also be making his feature directorial debut.

Rodriguez most recently starred as Detective Wayne Johnson in V/H/S/85 and Detective Greco in the Hulu series Wu-Tang: An American Saga. He’s best known for his portrayal of Federico Diaz in the hit HBO series Six Feet Under, which earned him an Emmy nomination in 2002 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Rodriguez was part of the main ensemble cast alongside Michael C. Hall, Peter Krause, Frances Conroy and Lauren Ambrose across the show’s 5 seasons.

Across his nearly three decades in the industry, his big screen credits also include roles in A Walk In The Clouds (1995), M. Night Shyamalan’s Lady in the Water (2006), Grindhouse (2007) for Robert Rodriguez and David Ayers’ directorial debutHarsh Times (2005).

Suarez most recently produced The Tax Collector, a gritty urban crime drama directed by David Ayer. He also contributed to the soundtrack production for Marvel’s acclaimed 2018 animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse—written by Phil Lord and Rodney Rothman—alongside reggaeton star Anuel. As a director, Suarez has helmed numerous music videos, showcasing artists such as Drake, Rick Ross and French Montana. In 2020, he founded Averted Vision Pictures LLC with a clear mission: to develop a dynamic hub for film and television production.

Rumors about a new music videofrom Lil Pump surfaced late last year when the 19-year-old “Gucci Gang” rapper shared a profanity-laced Instagramclip showing his bloodied hand after being bitten by a snake.

On Friday, Pump and Anuel AA dropped the hellish Spiff TV-directed video for “Illuminati,” which features the two artists surrounded by death, fire and plenty of serpents. 

“Illuminati” and its accompanying video were released through Tha Lights Global.

Prince Royce to Perform at This Year’s Latin American Music Awards

The 28-year-old Dominican American bachata singer has been added to the list of superstars set to perform at 2017 Latin American Music Awards 2017, according to Telemundo.

Prince Royce, the reigning Favorite Tropical Artist, joins a list of performers that includes Chris Brown, Gente de Zona, Natalia Jimenez, Banda MS, Alejandra Guzmán, Gloria Trevi, hip hop legend Spiff TV, Pablo Alborán and Jesse & Joy.

The list of performers also includes upcoming acts like Spanish pop singer Abraham Mateo, Cuban pop music group Angeles, Puerto Rican “trap” singer Bad Bunny, regional Mexican singer Christian Nodal and Colombian singer/songwriter Manuel Medrano.

The “Latin AMAs” honors artists in the genres of Pop/Rock, Regional Mexican, Urban and Tropical, as well as categories for Favorite Crossover Artist, Favorite Collaboration, New Artist of the Year, Artist of the Year and Album of the Year, among others.

This year, Colombian superstars Shakira and Maluma top the list of nominees for the third annual awards show. Nominees are based on key fan interactions with music, including, but not limited to, sales, airplay, streaming and social activity tracked by Billboard through its data partners Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound.

The ceremony will be broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, CA, at 9:00 pm ET on Thursday, October 26. The show is produced by Telemundo and Somos Productions.

Spiff TV to Release Urban Compilation Album “The Union”

The Latino music producer and video director, whose real name is Carlos Suarez, will be releasing his forthcoming urban compilation album The Union as part of a new deal with Sony Latin Music.

The producer/director/A&R — known for spearheading visuals like French Montana’s “No Shopping” video featuring Drake and working alongside rap heavyweights like Diddy and Rick Ross — will curate The Union, a project that will blend hip-hop, bachata, R&B and reggaeton.

“Throughout my journey with this album and singles, not everyone understood my vision or just found it complicated,” Spiff TV tells Billboard in a statement. “But Sony Latin Music understood it from the moment I walked into their offices and their entire team became passionate of bringing what we currently are as a merged culture.  The Union will be a music model of infusing culture diversity.”

Adds Sony Latin president Nir Seroussi: “There have been many attempts to bring the two worlds together but no one has come close to what Spiff has accomplished. He’s a true visionary and we’re thrilled that he has chosen us as his partner on this groundbreaking project.”

In anticipation for the album, Spiff TV released his latest single “Just As I Am” on Tuesday featuring Prince Royce and Chris Brown. Fusing R&B and bachata, the track will be available on Prince Royce’s new record FIVE, dropping on Friday, Feb. 24.

A release date for The Union is yet to be announced.

After premiering his new music video “Nunca me olvides” on Tidal on July 12, the 39-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton singer-songwriter has made the new clip available on YouTube for all his fans to watch.

The “Nunca me olvides” video, directed by Carlos R. Pérez and filmed in Los Angeles last month, is the first one Yandel premieres under Jay Z‘s Roc Nation.

“Nunca me olvides” is featured on Yandel’s latest album Dangerous which features collaborations with Lil Jon, French Montana, Tego Calderon, De La Ghetto, Spiff TV and Future.
