Louis C.K. Breaks Record for Most Emmy Nods in Same Year

Louis C.K. may be the reigning “King of Comedy”… But the jack of all trades is apparently an Emmy darling as well.

The 44-year-old half-Mexican American actor/comedian racked up a record-breaking seven nominations during Thursday morning’s Primetime Emmy nominations announcement.

Louis CK

Louis C.K. was nominated in the Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series category for his critically acclaimed FX series Louie, which he also writes, directs and edits.

His behind-the-scenes work on the “Louie” earned him writing and directing Emmy nods.

Meanwhile, Louis C.K.’s self-produced stand-up special Live at the Beacon Theater also earned him four nominations, bringing his total to an impressive seven nominations, the highest of any individual in one year.

According to A.V. Club that honor was previously held by David Lynch, who earned five nods for the first season of Twin Peaks.

In an interview with The New York Times, Louis C.K. felt some guilt for earning so many individual nominations.

“That’s a lot of nominations. It feels selfish, because I was really rooting for everybody on my show, so I feel a little selfish,” said the comedian, who’s upcoming comedy tour is already selling out .

Louis C.K. said he would’ve liked to have seen Louie nominated for Outstanding Comedy so he could share the Emmy love with the cast and crew.

“I would have loved to see it nominated, for everybody that works for me. But I don’t think I got robbed or something,” said Louis C.K. “That’s all craziness and I don’t believe in that. We’re a little show on FX. Anything you get is great.”

C.K. has been on the receiving end of a lot of accolades lately. In February, he won a Grammy Award for his comedy album “Hilarious.” He won Best Actor in a Comedy Series at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards and was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World. He picked up four awards at Comedy Central’s Comedy Awards, and he was named the Webby Awards Person of the Year in May.

Meanwhile, Sofia Vergara scored a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. It’s the 40-year-old Colombian actress’ third straight nod in that category for her work on ABC’s Modern Family.

And Bobby Cannavale earned a nod for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy for playing Cameron’s “estranged ex-clown partner” on ABC’s Modern Family. The 42-year-old half-Cuban American actor, who won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2005 for his guest-starring role on NBC’s Will and Grace, had previously earned a Critics’ Choice Television Awards nomination for that memorable role.

The 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be telecast on September 23 on ABC.

Vergara: Television’s Highest-Paid Actress

She’s one of the hardest working women in Hollywood… And, now Sofia Vergara is reaping the rewards for her red-hot career…

Forbes magazine has just released its list of the highest paid actresses on television in the past year, with the 40-year-old Colombian actress unseating Eva Longoria at the top of the list.

Sofia Vergara

Forbes estimates that Vergara, who reportedly got engaged last week, raked in $19 million from May 2011 to May 2012. That hefty sum is due in large part to the seven-figure advance from her Kmart clothing line (to the tune of $7 million dollars by the end of 2012), English-language endorsement deals with Cover Girl and Diet Pepsi, as well as Spanish-language endorsement deals with Burger King, Comcast and State Farm (which amount to a whopping $12 million). Vergara serves as one half of the management company Latin World Entertainment, which should help secure her status as a rising entertainment mogul.

Vergara narrowly beat out Kim Kardashian, with the reality star earning an estimated $18 million over the same time frame. Kardashian’s earnings include $10 million for her E! wedding special. Kardashian, like Vergara, also has her hand in the fashion industry with a cost-conscious clothing line through Sears, which she designs alongside her sisters.

Meanwhile, last year’s No. 1, Eva Longoria, dropped to third place despite increasing her earnings by $2 million.  The 37-year-old Mexican American actress pulled in a grand total of $15 million during the same time period. Longoria earned an estimated $8 million for her role on the final season of ABC’s Desperate Housewives. In addition, Longoria’s endorsement deals with L’Oreal and Pepsi Next earned her $5 million and sales of her cookbook, two fragrances and a handful of small movie roles rounded out her earnings.

Here’s a look at the Top 10 female earners in TV:

1. Sofia Vergara: $19 million

2. Kim Kardashian: $18 million

3. Eva Longoria: $15 million

4. Bethenny Frankel: $12 million

5. Khloe Kardashian Odom: $11 million

6. Tina Fey: $11 million

7. Mariska Hargitay: $10 million

8. Zooey Deschanel: $9 million

8. Felicity Huffman: $9 million

8. Ellen Pompeo: $9 million

Sofia Vergara also received double the love. The 40-year-old Colombian actress, who just got engaged, is nominated for her work on Modern Family and The Three Stooges.

Sheen Cast as U.S. President in “Machete” Sequel

Like father, like son…

Following in his father Martin Sheen’s footsteps, Charlie Sheen is about to get presidential.

Charlie Sheen

The 46-year-old part-Spanish actor has joined the cast of Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills. Like Sheen’s father, who played President Josiah Bartlet on The West Wing, the controversial actor will play the President of the United States.

Rodriguez made the announcement Thursday on Twitter, where he wrote, “I just cast Charlie Sheen in #machetekills as the President of the United States! Who better? More soon…”

Sheen, who will be starring in FX’s new series Anger Management, retweeted that message, and a representative for the controversial actor confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that negotiations are taking place.

Rodriguez is currently in production on the sequel to his Grindhouse action movie Machete,  which once again stars Danny Trejo as the title character and includes Jessica Alba, Demián Bichir, Sofia Vergara and Zoe Saldana.

In the sequel, Machete is called upon by the U.S. government to stop a cartel leader and an arms dealer who have a weapon in space.

The broadly-written part initially called for the president to be African-American and have a basketball court on the White House lawn but has since been rewritten.
