Benicio Del Toro is dealing with a “real nightmare”…
Netflix has released the first trailer for Reptile, a crime thriller starring the 56-year-old Puerto Rican actor and producer, Justin Timberlake and Alicia Silverstone.
The film will debut on the streamer on October 6th, after making its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
Marking the feature directorial debut of veteran music video director Grant Singer, the film is set in motion by the brutal murder of a young real estate agent, following a hardened detective (Del Toro) as he attempts to uncover the truth in a case where nothing is as it seems. In doing so, he finds himself dismantling the illusions in his own life.
“How have you been feeling?” Del Toro’s Nichols is asked in the trailer, to which he responds, “There’s a case going on. It’s a real nightmare.”
First up for interrogation is the victim’s boyfriend, played by Timberlake, who gives his account of coming home to discover her with a knife in her back. But he’s certainly not the only suspect. Among others being looked at are the woman’s friend (Sky Ferreira) and ex-husband (Karl Glusman), and a “weirdo” (Michael Pitt) who’d been making unwelcome visits to the boyfriend’s front door.
Also starring Ato Essandoh, Frances Fisher, Eric Bogosian, Domenick Lombardozzi, Matilda Lutz, Owen Teague and Catherine Dyer, the film was scripted by Singer & Benjamin Brewer & Del Toro.
The 29-year-old part-Brazilian American singer, songwriter, model and actress has released her comeback single, “Don’t Forget.”
The single’s arrival comes after a nearly nine-year wait for the follow-up to Ferreira’s critically acclaimed 2013 debut, Night Time, My Time.
Picking up where previous singles “Everything Is Embarrassing” and “I Blame Myself” left off, Ferreira returns with stadium-ready pop dripping with ’80s-inspired synths and lyrics that prove her bark is just as ferocious — and not to mention, infectious — as her bite (“keep it in mind / nobody here’s a friend of mine”).
Though it remains unclear when Ferreira’s sophomore effort will arrive in the near future, if ever, “Don’t Forget” previews an album with the potential to be as strong as its predecessor.
Sky Ferreira is (third) siding with a new company…
The 29-year-old part-Brazilian American singer/songwriter has agreed to a new global publishing administration agreement with Third Side Music.
While her fans have eagerly awaited her next album since the release of the critically acclaimed debut Night Time, My Time for more than nine years, the new Third Side agreement signals Ferreira’s next chapter is on its way.
Previously, Ferreira released music under an administrative agreement with Kobalt, but now, under her new deal with Third Side, she will receive a more hands-on approach while maintaining the administrative focus she’s accustomed to, including A&R and creative aid from the company’s vice president creative/director of A&R, Brontë Jane, who calls Ferreira an “unparalleled career artist” and “a true visionary with her craft.”
Third Side Music is a lean independent firm, focused on signing just a handful of talents and offering hyper-personalized service, often unavailable at larger institutions, and Ferreira will be joining other writers like SOFI TUKKER, Unknown Mortal Orchestra,Blonde Redhead, Colin Stetson, and BADBADNOTGOOD on Jane’s Third Side roster.
Since inking a label deal at Capitol Records at 16, Ferreira has expressed her distrust of the music industry and of her label on multiple occasions: “every contract I have ever signed has always been set up to take advantage of me/my work in some way,” she explained in an Instagram story back in 2019. Though she remains in her deal with Capitol on the recorded side, Ferreira’s signing to Third Side act as a hopeful clean slate on the publishing front ahead of her highly anticipated next chapter.
Still, little is known about Ferreira’s music to come. With only two new songs released since her nearly decade-old debut album — a song for the Promising Young Woman soundtrack and a collaboration with Charli XCX, both released in 2019 — her sound as of 2022 is anyone’s guess.
So far, the announcement of the Third Side deal and her March 31 YouTube teaser captioned “remember me?” are the clearest indications of Ferreira’s next moves, but already, fans and fellow musicians are flocking to social media to show their love and support. “fangirl moment: v excited for new Sky,” writes Charli XCX on her Twitter. Grimes also shared her support to Ferreira, leaving the Instagram comment, “This is about to be a smash I can feel it.”

The 27-year-old part-Brazilian American singer/songwriter has joined voices with Charli XCX on the new single, “Cross You Out.”
The moody collaboration, the fourth single of Charli XCX’s upcoming third album Charli, is Ferreira’s first single as a featured artist since her collab with Primal Scream on 2016’s “Where the Light Gets In.”
Produced by Lotus IV and A.G. Cook, “Cross You Out” launches with thudding electronics and bright keys. But it simmers down as Charli XCX begins singing, her voice Auto-Tuned and vulnerable.
The 25-year-old part-Brazilian American singer/actress has a new EP on the way.
Ferreira, who recently had a new directorial effort with Marching Church, recently sat down with The Fader to talk about the “Christmas on Earth” music video, but also let slip some details on her long-awaited new release, which looks to include more videos and embrace a more “visual” approach to songwriting.
“It’s an EP that is heavily visual,” she shared. “And the videos will all connect to each other in an abstract way. The visual component isn’t necessarily a concept, it was more of an excuse for me to make videos for all the songs. I do think my songs stand on their own with or without a music video, but I feel that my work represents me more when I get to do the visual stuff.
“It’ll be starting to come out in February, or March, for sure. There’s a group of people I’m working with, and it’s exciting because I’ve never written with so many girls before. There’s a girl that’s writing the EP with me. There are very specific things I wanted to write, and I could write on my own, but I knew she could bring another element of what I wanted to the music.”
The EP follows Ferreira’s debut album, Night Time, My Time, which was released in 2013.
This year, the songwriter performed alongside John Cale, Animal Collectiveand MGMTas part of Cale’s Velvet Underground & Nicoanniversary performances, as well as contributed to the soundtrack for Edgar Wright’s film Baby Driver, in which she also appeared as the title character’s mother in flashbacks.
Ferreira also starred as Ella in this year’s Twin Peaks reboot.
The 24-year-old part-Brazilian American singer-songwriter, model, and actress has signed on to star in Jonas Akerlund’s Lords Of Chaos.
Lords Of Chaos, which Akerlund co-wrote with Dennis Magnusson, follows young Norwegian band Mayhem that popularized a form of heavy metal music known as “True Norwegian Black Metal,” with a flair for publicity, church-burning and even murder.
The 23-year-old part-Brazilian American singer-songwriter, model, and actress will star in David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, the Showtime follow-up to his cult ABC series.
The new season, which mixes original and new cast members, has completed filming.
The new installment picks up twenty-five years after the events in the original series that kicked off with the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town of Twin Peaks being shocked by the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer, played by Sheryl Lee who is back for the reboot, joining the only previously confirmed actor, star Kyle MacLachlan, reprising his role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper.
Other actors from the original who are back include Sheryl Lee, Sherilyn Fenn, Mädchen Amick, David Duchovny, Michael Horse, Dana Ashbrook, Ray Wise, Grace Zabriskie, Peggy Lipton, Everett McGill and David Lynch.
In addition to Ferreira, other Latino actors in the 217-member cast include returning star Miguel Ferrer, Ana de la Reguera, Xolo Maridueña, Vincent Castellanos, Juan Carlos Cantu, Johnny Chavez and Lisa Coronado.
Written and produced by series creators and executive producers Lynch and Mark Frost, the upcoming Twin Peaks, directed entirely by Lynch, will premiere on Showtime in 2017.
The 23-year-old part-Brazilian singer-songwriter, model and actress has moved from Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to William Morris Endeavor (WME).
She already was represented by IMG Models, which was part of the WME | IMG acquisition last year.
Ferreira is currently the face of the Jimmy Choo fragrance Illicit and will soon be featured in Paco Rabanne’s next fragrance campaign with Gabriel Day-Lewis.
She starred in Eli Roth’s cannibal horror film The Green Inferno, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013 and will be released in the U.S. later this month.
As a recording artist, Ferreira’s 2013 Capitol Records debut Night Time, My Time opened at No. 45 on the Billboard 200 before finding its way onto Rolling Stone‘s list of that year’s top albums and Pitchfork‘s list of the decade’s top 100 albums.
She currently is recording her sophomore album, Masochism, due out next year.
Sky Ferreira has landed a King of a role for her feature film debut…
The 22-year-old part-Brazilian singer-songwriter has joined the star-studded cast of the film Elvis & Nixon, the true story drama that has begun shooting in Atlanta.
The indie film centers on actor Michael Shannon as Elvis Presley, The King, has he embarks on a trip to Washington, D.C., to meet President Richard Nixon, being played by Kevin Spacey.
Liza Johnson is directing the film that also has Evan Peters, Colin Hanks, Alex Pettyfer, Johnny Knoxville and Tracy Letts in its supporting cast.
The movie tells of the infamous Dec. 21, 1970, meeting between Presley and Nixon, both men at the height of their power in their respective fields.
The meeting was initiated by Presley, who wrote Nixon an urgent six-page letter requesting a visit and suggesting that he be made a “Federal Agent-at-Large” in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.
Pettyfer is playing Jerry Schilling, Elvis’ best friend who accompanies the singer to D.C. In her screen debut, Ferreira will portray Schilling’s love interest.
