Thorne Starring in the Disney Channel’s “Shake It Up: Made in Japan”

Bella Thorne could have the lyrics “Turning Japanese, I think I’m turning Japanese” running through her head…

That’s because the 14-year-old part-Cuban-American actress will be starring in Shake It Up: Made in Japan, a special Disney Channel event for Thorne’s popular series Shake It Upwhich has been picked up for another season.

Premiering next month, the episode will be part of a three-part finale and feature Thorne’s character CeCe Jones and her cohort Rocky (Zendaya) as they travel to Japan to be part of a dance video production. But the girls soon discover their goals are very different when it comes to exploring the country versus plotting their dance careers.

The episode will focus very heavily on Tokyo culture, including J-Pop music. The Blue Man Group will also appear in the episode, and three new original songs by Thorne and Zendaya will debut.

Shake It Up: Made in Japan will air Friday, August 17 at 8/7c.

The cable network has ordered a third season of hit dance-driven buddy comedy Shake It Up, starring the 14-year-old part-Cuban American actress.

Following its premiere in November 2010, the series ranked as the No. 1 series among tweens 9-14 in 2011, and for second quarter 2012-to-date, it’s the No. 1 TV series among kids 2-11 (2.0 million/4.9 rating) and kids 6-11 (1.6 million/6.7 rating).

In addition, Shake It Up inspired the Disney Channel’s first-ever talent competition for kids and tweens, Make Your Mark: Ultimate Dance Off – Shake It Up Edition, as well as a successful soundtrack and merchandizing line.

Shake It Up stars Thorne and Zendaya Coleman as best friends CeCe Jones and Rocky Blue, who are living their dreams as dancers on the hit show Shake It Up, Chicago!

New episodes air Sunday at 8:30 PM.

Coming this summer is Shake It Up: Made In Japan, a 90-minute special in which the gang will head to Tokyo after Rocky and CeCe win a chance to star in a dance video game. A sneak peek of the special will air during the Disney Channel original movie Let It Shine on June 15.
