Emeraude Toubia to Star in the Rom-Com “The Pet Nup”

Emeraude Toubia has a new pet project…

The 35-year-old half-Mexican Canadian actress has joined the cast of Sony Pictures International Productions and Mucho Mas Media’s The Pet Nup, an original rom-com currently in development.

Emeraude ToubiaToubia will star alongside Gregg Sulkin, Halston Sage and Jaime Pressly in the film to be directed by Elaine del Valle.

Scripted by Tate Hanyok, the film’s logline is as follows: While a recently divorced couple navigates new life and love apart, the arrangement in their “Pet-Nup” forces them to extremes as they fight for custody of the one thing in their life that can’t be split in two: their dog.

Previously starring in Gloria Calderón Kellett’s Prime Video series With Love and Freeform’s Shadowhunters, Toubia will soon be seen in the title role of Felipe Vargas’ horror film Rosario.

She’ll also star alongside Gina Rodriguez and Karla Souza in the upcoming comedy, Like It Used to Be.

Most recently directing the Tubi original Midnight Hustle, Del Valle also wrote and directed Brownsville Bred, a YA family drama sharing her personal coming-of-age story. She is a WarnerMedia 150 Artist, Sundance Writer & Director Lab alumna, Shondaland Director finalist and two-time Lynn Shelton and Imagen Impact award nominee.

Kevin Alves Upped to Series Regular on Showtime’s “Yellowjackets”

Kevin Alves will be seeing more yellow(jackets) next season…

The 30-year-old Brazilian Canadian actor and figure skater, who portrays Travis Martinez on Showtime’s Yellowjackets, has been upped to series regular.

Kevin AlvesTravis is the son of Bill Martinez, the head coach of the Yellowjackets girls soccer team. The players were bound for the nationals when their plane crashed in the wilderness of Canada and the coach was killed.

Travis, who’s a guarded and insecure teen, ended up starting a romance with Natalie Scatorccio, played by Sophie Thatcher as a teen and Juliette Lewis as an adult.

Travis was played as an adult in season one by Andres Soto.

Before Yellowjackets, Alves recurred for two seasons on Shadowhunters as Bat Belasquez and Locke & Key as Javi Gonzalez.

He previously appeared on Warehouse 13 and as Fabio on Degrassi: The Next Generation.

New cast members set for the second season of Yellowjackets include Elijah WoodLauren Ambrose and Simone Kessell.

The drama is from Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson and is produced for Showtime by studio Entertainment One (eOne).

Emeraude Toubia to Star in & Executive Produce Rom-Com Feature “The Redo”

The 32-year-old half-Mexican American actress will star in and executive-produce in The Redo, a romantic comedy marking the feature debut of veteran television director Daniella Eisman.

Written by Maggie Rose, the film follows three female best friends who, upon realizing they’re not getting the love they deserve, make a pact to reconnect with their biggest “almost” from their romantic pasts: a first love, an infatuation, and a friendship teetering on the verge of romance.

Toubia will play Cara, an underpaid but ambitious lackey at a record label, who decides to lean into her infatuation with one of her boss’s clients, with whom she had a one night stand a year ago.

Carroll Middelthon is producing under her Eastend Entertainment banner with Maika Glikman, with Eastend’s Paige Mobley executive-producing alongside Toubia for The Emerald Co.

Toubia currently stars in Gloria Calderón Kellet’s Amazon Prime series With Love and will soon be seen in Bernardo Cubria’s comedy Like It Used to Be opposite Gina Rodriguez.

Additional credits include the Freeform series Shadowhunters and the Lifetime movie Holiday in Santa Fe, which she also produced.

Emeraude Toubia to Star in the Road Trip Comedy “Like It Used to Be”

The 31-year-old half-Mexican Canadian actress has been cast in Like It Used to Be, joining previously announced fellow Latina stars Gina Rodriguez and Karla Souza.

Bernardo Cubria wrote the comedy, which centers on four female best friends. While on a final road trip to Mexico, one of them learns some life-changing news.

Toubia will play Sofia, a well-to-do Mexican woman with a hippie/designer fashion sense who joins the girls on the road trip.

Jolene Rodriguez of Broken English Productions is producing the film alongside Rodriguez, via her production company I Can & I Will, and Souza.

Toubia is best known for her role as Isabelle Lightwood on the Freeform series Shadowhunters.

Her other credits include the TV movie Love in the Sun and telenovela Voltea Pa’Que Te Enamores.

Alberto Rosende to Appear on NBC’s “Chicago Fire”

The 26-year-old Colombian and Cuban American actor has landed a recurring role on the upcoming eighth season of NBC’s Chicago Fire.

Rosende will portray Blake Gallo, a young firefighter who loves his job and joins Firehouse 51 as the Chicago Fire Department expands the number of firefighters on second shift. Casey (Jesse Spencer), Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Severide (Taylor Kinney) — impressed with Gallo’s relentless energy — take him under their wings.

From executive producer Dick Wolf and co-creator Derek HaasChicago Fire looks into the lives of the firefighters, rescue squad and paramedics of Chicago Firehouse 51 who risk their lives week in and week out to save and protect the citizens of their city.

In addition to Spencer, Eigenberg and Kinney, the cast includes Eamonn WalkerKara KilmerMiranda Rae MayoAnnie IlonzehChristina StolteJoe Minoso and Yuri Sardarov.

Rosende is best known for his starring role as Simon Lewis on Shadowhunters, which aired for three seasons on Freeform. He’s currently the face of Old Spice’s new ad campaign entitled “Never Let a Friend Lose His Swagger.” 

Chicago Fire‘s Season 8 premieres on September 25 on NBC.

Freeform Orders Two Series-Finale Episodes of Alberto Rosende’s “Shadowhunters”

Freeform’s fantasy drama series Shadowhunters, starringthe 25-year-old Colombian and Cuban American actor, will come to an end after its current third season.

While the cable network opted not to pick up a fourth season, it will give fans closure, ordering two extra episodes that will wrap the story. The expanded 12-episode final season, dubbed Shadowhunters: The Final Hunt, is set to air in spring 2019.

Freeform originally ordered a 10-episode third season, later ordering 10 back episodes. Season 3A wrapped its run on May 15. While there had been no premiere date for Season 3B but those episodes are already in the can, so the only way to get a proper ending for the series was for Freeform to greenlight a finale.

That way the series also will cover all Mortal Instruments books, on which it is based. The current third season goes over books 4 and 5; the two-hour finale will be based on the sixth and final novel in the series.

“We are very proud of Shadowhunters, a series that broke new ground in the genre world and became a fan favorite,” the network said in a statement. “However, along with our partners at Constantin, we reached the very difficult decision not to renew the show for a fourth season.  But as big supporters and fans ourselves, Freeform insisted on and championed the filming of a special two-part finale that would give devoted fans a proper ending.  The twelve episodes will air in spring of 2019.  We want to thank our talented creators, producers, cast and crew along with our colleagues at Constantin for their hard work and dedication and to Cassie Clare for her incredible book series. We look forward to the final chapter of this breakthrough drama.”

Shadowhunters debuted to a strong start, becoming Freeform’s strongest new scripted show in 2016. Ratings have been down year-to-year since then though the series continues to generate solid buzz and has a devoted following.

Shadowhunters is produced by Constantin Film. The series stars Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Dominic Sherwood as Jace Wayland, Rosende as Simon Lewis, half-Mexican actress Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood, Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Garroway, Alisha Wainwright as Maia Roberts, and Harry Shum Jr. as Magnus Bane.

Castro to Star on ABC Family’s “Shadowhunters”

The 19-year-old Latino actor has been cast in a recurring role on ABC Family’s straight-to-series drama Shadowhunters.

Based on the best-selling young adult fantasy book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, Shadowhunters follows 18-year-old Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara) who finds out on her birthday that she’s not who she thinks she is, but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters — human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother Jocelyn (Maxim Roy) is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace (Dominic Sherwood) and her best friend Simon (Alberto Rosende).

Castro, who starred in 27 Dresses, will play Raphael, an elegantly handsome, well-dressed vampire. Ambitious and cunning, he’s aspiring to lead the New York vampire clan.

Castro’s other credits include Where God Left His Shoes, Fugly! and A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.
