Longoria Launching Her Own Clothing Line in Fall 2016

Eva Longoria is expanding her empire…

The 40-year-old Mexican American actress, producer, director, activist and businesswoman is set to launch a new line of clothing in the fall of 2016.

Eva Longoria

Longoria, best known for playing the loud-mouthed and flashy Gaby Solis on Desperate Housewivessays she prefers styles that are “classic and comfortable” rather than too trendy. And it’s this effortless chic look that she plans to bring to life with her new collection.

The actress, who has dabbled in fragrances and bedding before, is finally embracing her love of fashion after years of sewing dresses and costumes for herself and friends.

“Now it’s time to move into apparel,” Longoria told WWD“Before, I was just too busy.”

The yet-to-be-named line is licensed under Sunrise Brands, which is also working on Melissa McCarthy‘s Seven7 collection, due out this fall.

Longoria hopes to eventually expand into handbags, accessories and shoes, however her first collection will consist of “dresses, career apparel and casual sportswear.”

Distribution and price points are also undisclosed at this time.

The ultimate goal, she says, is to “offer women versatility while evoking confidence, comfort and a sense of glamour.”

Hernandez to Compete on NBC’s “Fashion Star”

She’s created looks for Mexican superstar Gloria Trevi… But Johana Hernandez could soon be dressing America.

The 26-year-old Salvadoran American fashion designer, the daughter of immigrants, has been selected as one of the 13 contestants for the second season of NBC’s Fashion Star.

Johana Hernandez

Hernandez was selected from 16,000 aspiring designers who applied to take part in the network’s fashion design competition, which features Nicole Richie as a mentor.

Hernandez says she’s aiming to showcase authentic Latino style this season, which premieres on Friday, March 8.

“This is my opportunity to represent Latinos in a field where the inspiration always comes from Europe,” Hernandez told Efe. “The designers don’t look to the modern Latin woman for inspiration, that’s what I come to propose.”

That modern Latina, according to Hernandez, is a woman who “doesn’t show too much, but at the same time is glamorous and revealing in an elegant way.”

Even though she’s a young designer, Hernandez has gained some great experience in the industry. She’s the principal designer for Seven7 jeans and Mexican singer Gloria Trevi will be wearing some of her creations on stage during her upcoming world tour.

But Hernandez’s biggest professional aspirations are riding on her own fashion line, Glaudi.

“My designs are born of my roots and my family history,” she says. “They have a lot of detail and a lot of meaning. “It’s a style with roots.”
