The Martinez Brothers Team Up with Seth Troxler for Slinky New Single “Play In The Dark”

The Martinez Brothers are playing in the dark

Chris Martinez and Steven Martinez, the Latino sibling duo of disc jockeys, music producers, and remixers, have teamed up with Seth Troxler for the first time in seven years with the dark, slinky and fairly weird “Play In The Dark.”

Out on Damian LazarusCrosstown Rebels imprint, the track is outfitted with a hypnotic synth and the sound of morse code, over which Troxler plays ringmaster with lyrics about seeing you at the club that are dually compelling and strange.

The vocals persist as the production gets fuzzier and more chaotic — more or less just like a real night out at the club.

This is The Martinez Brothers’ debut on Crosstown Rebels and Troxler’s first release in awhile, with the track kicking off a series of new tracks from Troxler to be released throughout 2021.

After kicking off the music & arts project back in 2013, New York-based creative agency MATTE is taking the annual event south of the border.

The music, contemporary art and design celebration is set to take place at the abanhoned Hotel Reforma in Mexico City’s Zona Rosa neighborhood on March 4. In addition to Arbol, Headliners include renowned DJ Seth Troxler, Brooklyn-based Thugfucker and local artists including BBY JSS.

“Mexico City, with its rich culture and unique spirit, is fast becoming one of the most exciting cities on the planet,” MATTE co-founder Brett Kincaid said in a statement. “Like New York it has a mysterious allure, which is coarse in some ways and inspirationally elegant in others. This juxtaposition is reflective of BLACK as a concept and MATTE as a brand.”

Kincaid added: “We think it’s the perfect home to export BLACK to, a world-renowned metropolis with a wide appreciation of music and art. BLACK resonates with a certain mind-set, it’s not the shiniest of offerings, and we like that, and have a feeling the people in DF will feel the same.”

Festivalgoers will also get to check out visual art by local, homegrown Mexican artists including Paolo Montiel, from CocoLab Mexico City, Pablo Davila and Aldo Chaparro.
