Pepe Aguilar Signs Worldwide Deal with SESAC Latina

Pepe Aguilar is going global…

The 55-year-old Mexican American singer and producer has signed a worldwide deal with SESAC Latina, per Billboard.

We pride ourselves on being a family at SESAC, and we are thrilled to work with one of the most famous families in the Mexican artistic world, and we can’t wait to celebrate their continued success in the years to come.”

The son of regional Mexican music royalty — his father was the legendary Antonio Aguilar and his mother the iconic Flor Silvestre — Aguilar, who has been performing since he was a toddler, branched out of regional early in his career to sing in rock bands.

Eventually, he would become a renowned ranchera and mariachi music artist placing, so far, nine top 10 titles on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums chart.

Throughout his career he’s also won four Grammys and five Latin Grammy Awards.

Most recently, he released Que Llueva Tequila, which thrives on the regal mariachi sound that has characterized Aguilar’s style. Earlier this month, the regional Mexican hitmaker also wrapped his Jaripeo Hasta Los Huesos Tour with his children and brother Antonio Aguilar Jr.

Pepe Aguilar joins SESAC Latina’s roster that includes Nicky Jam, Edén Muñoz, Christian Nodal and Manuel Turizo, among others.

Luciano Luna to Receive SESAC Latina’s SESAC Legacy Award

Luciano Luna’s legacy in Latin music is being celebrated…

The 42-year-old Mexican Latin Grammy-winning songwriter/producer will receive the SESAC Legacy Award during the SESAC Latina Music Awards Gala at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles on June 26.

Luciano LunaLuna will be presented the award in honor of his illustrious career and significant contribution to Latin music.

“I am very grateful for this distinction; it motivates me to continue dedicating myself to writing stories with my songs and being a good example for new generations of songwriters,” Luna said in a press release.

The Sinaloa creator has recorded more than 250 productions, mostly in the regional Mexican music genre, with iconic acts such as Julión Álvarez, Gerardo Ortiz, Banda Los Recoditos, Banda MS, Régulo Caro and more.

As a co-author, his collaborations include Joss Favela, Edén Muñoz and others.

This year marks SESAC Latina’s 30th anniversary of representing top-tier songwriters globally.

The event will recognize the exceptional talent and achievements of its affiliated songwriters and publishers, awarding honors such as song of the year, publisher of the year, and more.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate the magnificent and vibrant talent within the Latin songwriting community,” remarked SESAC’s CCO, Sam Kling. “The SESAC Latina Music Awards always showcase exceptional songs and songwriters, making it an unforgettable evening.”

Yahritza y Su Esencia Sign Worldwide Deal with SESAC Latina

Yahritza Martinez and her brothers are taking their music career to greater heights…

The 15-year-old Mexican singer and her siblings Jairo and Armando Martinez, best known by their group name Yahritza y Su Esencia, have signed a worldwide deal with SESAC Latina.

“We are very excited to welcome Yahritza y Su Esencia to the SESAC Latina family,” Celeste Zendejas, vice president, SESAC Latina, said in a statement. “Their debut single premiered at number one on the Hot Latin Songs Billboard chart, and they are growing into a cultural phenomenon in the Mexican genre. We are honored to be part of their continued success.”

To mark the beginning of their new deal with the performance-rights organization, Yahritza Y Su Esencia — who are signed to indie label Lumbre Music — took the stage to perform “Enamorado” and “Soy El Único” during the 2022 SESAC Latina Music ceremony on June 29.

Yahritza y Su EsenciaTheir partnership with SESAC Latina comes on the heels of the trio’s unprecedented success, which has catapulted them to the top of the Billboard charts.

Earlier this year, the self-taught musicians made history with the sad sierreño anthem “Soy El Unico” as the track scored a No. 20 entry on the Billboard Hot 100, making lead singer Yahritza the youngest Latin performer to enter the all-genre tally.

Additionally, “Soy El Único,” penned by Yahritza at age 13, debuted at No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated April 9.

“I don’t write my songs specifically for anyone. I just observe what’s going on around me and I get ideas from it,” she previously told Billboard.

In April, the group — which hails from Yakima, Wash. — dropped their five-track EP, Obsessed, which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Regional Mexican Albums chart. According to a press release, Yahritza Y Su Esencia is currently working on a full album, set to drop “later this year.”

Kevin Ortiz Signs with SESAC Latina for Worldwide Representation

Kevin Ortiz is ready to take over the world…

The Regional Mexican rising star has joined the SESAC Latina roster for worldwide representation, excluding Mexico.

“Kevin launched his career at a very young age and has shown a commitment to working on his skill set and evolving for the next phase of his career,” says Celeste Zendejas, SESAC Latina Director of Creative Services in a press statement. “He is an outstanding addition to our roster of Regional Mexican creative talent, and we’re thrilled he has joined the SESAC Latina family.”

So far, Kevin Ortíz has already released three albums and scored six songs on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart including “La Niña Más Linda,” “A Los 18,” “La Indicada,” and “Un Minuto.” 

Ortíz debuted in 2012 after collaborating with sibling Gerardo Ortiz in the “Tal Como Eres.”

Antonio “Rayito” Rayo Signs with SESAC Latina

It’s a new deal for Antonio Rayo… 

SESAC Latina has signed the Spanish composer and producer, known as Rayito.

His notable writing credits include Shakira’s “Me Enamoré” and Karol G’s “Mi Cama” and “Punto G.”

Originally from Madrid, Rayito was touring as a flamenco guitarist at the age of 8, and recorded his first album when he was 10. 

At just 15, he moved to Miami and began collaborating with Latin pop stars. Rayito previously had a publishing deal with Sony Music.

Among Rayito’s other credits, he wrote and produced several tracks on Ricky Martin’s 2015 album A Quien Quiera Escuchar and co-wrote Diego Torres’ hit single “Hoy Es Domingo.“

Nicky Jam is taking his music worldwide…

The 34-year-old Puerto Rican singer-songwriter, who is riding high due to his current hit single with Enrique Iglesias, “El Perdón,“ has signed an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with Sony/ATV music publishing, according to Billboard.

Nicky Jam, whose real name is Nick Rivera Caminero, has also signed with SESAC Latina for worldwide representation for his public performance rights, on the heels of his signing as an artist with Sony Music Latin in February.

“Nicky Jam is coming into our family of composers at a great time in his career that’s’ reflected by his simultaneous presence in various Billboard lists,” said J.J. Cheng, vice president of SESAC Latin.

“El Perdón” is currently at No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay and Hot Latin Songs chart, and Nicky Jam’s “Travesuras” and “Si Tu No Estás” are sitting at No. 8 on Hot Latin Songs and No. 14 on the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart, respectively.

“Nicky is the new generation of entrepreneurial artist who are entering the big leagues through hard work, perseverance, and social media savvy,” said Jorge Mejía, EVP of Sony/ATV for Latin America and U.S. Latin. “We couldn’t be more excited.”

Nicky Jam’s current chart success is a welcome change.

He began his career as a reggaetón act in Puerto Rico together with his friend Daddy Yankee, then branched out solo and signed with indie Pina Records, scoring singles on the Billboard charts in 2005 and 2008.

Then, he disappeared.

Nicky Jam went to live in Colombia and worked for years re-crafting his sound. Last year he resurfaced, with a vengeance.

In July of 2014, “Travesuras,” released on his own label, La Industria, debuted on the Hot Latin Songs chart, peaking at No.4 in December.

Now, 10 years after he first made it onto the Billboard charts, Nicky Jam has finally risen to No. 1 with “El Perdón.”
