Videocine to Release Cristo Fernandez’s Ensemble Comedy “Una Pequeña Confusión” in December

There’s no confusion about the release date of Cristo Fernandez’s latest project.

Una Pequeña Confusión, an ensemble comedy starring the 33-year-old Mexican actor and Ted Lasso star, is set for a December theatrical release by Mexican powerhouse film company Videocine.

The film revolves around two couples: Lola and Cuau (De la Reguera and Fernández), a progressive middle-class pair, and Iñigo and Majo (Zurita and Escorcia), a young conservative, well-heeled duo. Both couples turn to artificial insemination as a last resort to have children.

In a madcap twist based on actual events, a mix-up at the clinic results in each mom-to-be carrying the other one’s baby. The couples must navigate their vastly different lifestyles and parenting philosophies, finding common ground for the sake of their future children, all while dealing with societal norms and the complexities of love.

Produced by No Dancing Today and Gebo Films, Una Pequeña Confusión is penned by Marcos Bucay whose credits include Netflix hit Club de Cuervos and the Amazon Original series How to Survive Being Single, created by Sebastián and Emiliano Zurita.

The comedy is directed by Argentina’s Ariel Winograd who has helmed a few episodes of How to Survive Being Single and is best known for his action comedy The Heist of the Century.

Chuy Chavez served as the cinematographer.

Jorge Aragón lead produces while De la Reguera, Arco Entertainment, the production company of Zurita and Brenda Tubilla, and Fernandez’s Espectro MX Films are co-producers.

“It combines humor and heart, showcasing the incredible talents of our cast and crew,” said Videocine director general Rodrigo de Pedro who added: “It’s a story about the unexpected, the importance of family, and finding laughter amidst chaos.”

The 35-yea-old Mexican actor has landed a recurring role in Prime Video’s The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, based on the novel of the same name by Holly Ringland.

The 7-part drama series set in Australia tells the story of a young girl, Alice Hart (played by Browne as a youth and Debnam-Carey as an adult), whose violent childhood casts a dark shadow over her adult life. After a family tragedy in which she loses both her abusive father and beloved mother in a mysterious fire, 9-year-old Alice is taken to live with her grandmother June (Weaver) on a flower farm, where she learns that there are secrets within secrets about her and her family’s past.

The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart comes from Amazon Studios and is produced by Made Up Stories and Endeavor Content.

Kirsty Fisher and Kim Wilson are on-board as writers. Glendyn Ivin will direct all 7 episodes.

The series will be produced by Barbara Gibbs and co-executive produced by Made Up Stories’ Lucinda Reynolds.

Up next for Zurita is the April 15 premiere of Prime Video’s Como Sobrevivir Soltero’s second season, a series he stars in and co-created alongside his brother Emiliano Zurita. The project has been renewed for a third season.

He previously starred in El Juego De Las Llaves for Prime Video and Pantaya, and Crackle’s The Oath.

Alejandra Guzman to Star on Season 2 of Pantaya’s Spanish-Language Series “El Juego de Las Llaves”

The 52-year-old Mexican Latin Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and actress has joined the Season 2 cast of Pantaya’s hit Spanish-language scripted series El Juego de Las Llaves.

Guzman joins a roster of cast newcomers that includes Laura Leon and Cristián de la Fuente.

Also joining the ensemble cast are Barbara Lopez, Michelle Rodriguez and Gustavo Egelhaaf.

El Juego de las Llaves streams on Pantaya, a Lionsgate and Hemisphere Media Group joint venture, in the U.S. and Puerto Rico and internationally via Amazon Prime Video.

El Juego de las Llaves is a provocative half-hour Spanish-language scripted series that follows four long-lasting couples and friends who decide to swing, and are left to face the impact of their decisions in the comedic aftermath.

The all-star cast includes Maite Perroni, Sebastián Zurita, Marimar Vega, Horacio Pancheri, Humberto Busto, Hugo Catalan, Ela Velden and Fabiola Campomanes.

Guzman, known for her television role in Una familia con suerte, most recently served as a coach on La Voz… Mexico and La Voz in the U.S., the Spanish-language versions of the singing competition The Voice.

Leon has appeared in telenovela hits like Dos mujeres un camino, El premio mayor and Mujeres engañadas, whose theme songs she also sang and have become classics of Latinx pop culture.

de la Fuente has had leading roles in Amor bravio, Quiero amarte and Sueño de amor. He has also appeared in a number of English-language film and television series including In Plain Sight, Driven, Basic and CSI: Miami.

El Juego de Las Llaves was created by Marisa Quiroga and developed by Patrick McGinley, Veronica Bellver and Corazon FilmsSandro Halphen, alongside Amazon Prime Video and Pantaya.

Directors on season 2 include Kenya Marquez, Javier Colinas and Roberto Fiesco.

The series is produced by Pantaya and Corazón Films.

Juanes to Host Star-Studded Christmas Musical Special “Celebremos: Eterna Navidad”

The 45-year-old Colombian superstar and his wife Karen Martínez are set to host a star-studded Christmas special that will stream only on Pantaya, according to Billboard.

Titled Celebremos: Eterna Navidad, the musical event — produced by streaming service Lionsgate‘s Pantaya, Universal Music GroupElefantec Global and Plataforma — will feature performances by Alejandro FernándezDanna PaolaGloria Trevi and Los Tigres del Norte, among many others.

“We all need a little extra Christmas cheer this year and what better way to bring people together than by a holiday special featuring joyful music and celebrity fun,” said Mario Almeida, Pantaya vice president of programming, development, and acquisitions. “We are excited to be working with the biggest names in Latinx entertainment and to partner with Pepe Baston’s Elefantec Global, Plataforma and Universal Music Group.”

The holiday special will also include other guests, including actors Aislinn Derbez, Ana De La Reguera, Sebastian Zurita and Ricardo O’Farrill, and renowned chefs Benito Molina and Solange Muris.

Celebremos: Eterna Navidad premieres December 4 on Pantaya and can be streamed across the U.S., including Puerto Rico.
