Aubrey Plaza to Star in the Romantic Comedy “Happiest Season”

Aubrey Plaza has found her Happiest place…

The 35-year-old Puerto Rican actress and Parks and Recreation alum has joined the cast of the TriStar Pictures and Entertainment One romantic comedy Happiest Season, starring Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis.

Directed and co-written by Clea DuVall, and co-written by Mary HollandHappiest Season follows a young woman (Stewart) whose plan to propose to her girlfriend (Davis) while at her family’s annual holiday party is upended when she discovers her partner hasn’t yet come out to her conservative parents (played by Steenburgen and Garber). 

The film is set to hit theaters on November 20. eOne will distribute the film in UK and Canada.

Filming is currently underway in Pittsburgh, PA.

Plaza’s film credits include Scott Pilgrim vs. the WorldMonsters University,Dirty GrandpaIngrid Goes West and Child’s Play.

The 30-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress/comedian has joined the cast of Lionsgate’s road trip comedy Dirty Grandpa.

The Parks and Recreation star will star opposite Zac Efron and Robert De Niro in the film about an uptight twenty-something (Efron) who embarks on a road trip before his wedding to bond with his recently widowed grandfather (De Niro) only to find that his grandpa is a foul-mouthed lunatic on a mission to get laid during Spring Break.

Plaza will portray Lenore, a savvy, beguiling party girl looking for fun on Spring Break.

Dan Mazer (Da Ali G Show) is directing from a screenplay by John Phillips.

Lionsgate has already slated the film for an August 12, 2016 release.

Plaza returns to NBC television this month for the seventh and final season of Parks and Recreation. Her film credits include Safety Not Guaranteed, The To Do List, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Funny People, and Damsels In Distress.

She next appears in Hal Hartley’s Ned Rifle and in A Driftless Area with John Hawkes. She also stars with Natasha Lyonne and Judy Greer in Jamie Babbit’s indie comedy Fresno.

Amazon Picks Up Garcia Bernal’s Comedy Series “Mozart in the Jungle”

Gael Garcia Bernal will be making music on television in the near future…

Amazon Studios has picked up to series the 35-year-old Mexican actor’s half-hour comedy series Mozart in the Jungle.

The dramatic comedy was written by Oscar-nominated writer and director Roman Coppola (Moonrise Kingdom, The Darjeeling Limited), actor and musician Jason Schwartzman (Saving Mr. Banks, Moonrise Kingdom, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), and Tony-nominated writer and director Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher).

The project is based on the memoir Mozart in the Jungle by Blair Tindall.

It’s all about sex, drugs—and classical music—and shows that what happens behind the curtains at the symphony can be just as captivating as what happens on stage.

Paul Weitz (About a Boy, Admission) directed the pilot and executive produced.

In addition to Garcia Bernal, the series stars Saffron Burrows, Lola Kirke, Malcom McDowell, Bernadette Peters and Peter Vack.

Plaza Wins Young Hollywood Award

Aubrey Plaza is having a breakthrough year…

The 27-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress/comedian—who stars as April Ludgate in NBC’s Parks and Recreation, received the Breakthrough Performance Female award at the 2012 Young Hollywood Awards, which celebrate rising stars in movies, television, music and beyond.

While accepting her award, Plaza—known for her deadpan delivery on Parks and Recreation—declared that she was “never going to die.”

Plaza has also starred in Funny People and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.

Meanwhile, Modern Family’s Rico Rodriguez and claimed the Scene Stealers award.

The 13-year-old Latino child actor shared the prize with his Modern Family co-star Nolan Gould and Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka, who plays the scarily mature Sally Draper.
