Cardi B Earns Three Soul Train Award Nominations

Cardi B’s got soul…

The nominations have been announced for this year’s Soul Train Awards, with the 29-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar picking up three nods.

Cardi B is nominated in the Video of the Year category for her sexified “Wild Side” collaboration with Normani.

The “WAP” singer is also nominated twice in the Best Dance Performance category. She earned a nod for her “Rumors” collaboration with Lizzo, as well as her “Wild Side” collab with Normani.

The Soul Train Awards, which recognizes the best in soul and R&B, will be taped at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem on November 20. It will premiere on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET and BET Her. As previously announced, Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold will co-host the show for the fourth consecutive year.

Bruno Mars is also up for three awards…

The 36-year-old part-Puerto Rican Grammy-winning singer and his Silk Sonic group Anderson .Paak are nominated for Song of the Year, Video of the Year and The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award for their chart-topping single, “Leave the Door Open.”

Jhené Aiko is nominated for Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, while Ashanti is nominated in the Certified Soul category.

H.E.R. leads the 2021 Soul Train Awards nominations with eight nods.

The show will be special on two counts. This will mark the first time the show has been taped at the Apollo (or in New York, for that matter). It will also honor the 50th anniversary of Soul Train, which made its debut in October 1971.

Connie Orlando, EVP, specials, music programming & music strategy, will oversee the show, with Jamal Noisette VP, specials, music programming & music strategy, set to co-executive produce for BET. Jesse Collins Entertainment’s Jesse Collins and Jeannae Rouzan–Clay will serve as executive producers.

Cardi B Earns Third No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Triller U.S. Chart with Lizzo-Collab “Rumors”

It’s another trill-ing single for Cardi B…

The 28-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar has earned her third No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Triller U.S. chart with “Rumors,” her collaboration with Lizzo.

Lizzo, meanwhile, notches her first No. 1 on the chart, as “Rumors,” debuts atop the ranking dated Sept. 4.

The Top Triller U.S. and Top Triller Global charts highlight the biggest songs on Triller based on a formula blending the amount of views of videos containing a respective songs, the level of engagement with those videos and the raw total of videos uploaded featuring each song, according to Triller. Data for the charts is represented on a Friday-Thursday tracking week, with the latest period running August 20-26.

“Rumors” becomes the latest Top Triller U.S. No. 1 debut, following Soulja Boy‘s “Rick and Morty” in early August.

It’s Cardi B’s third No. 1 on the list and second as a featured artist, having previously dominated for a week in October 2020 as featured on City Girls‘ “Twerk” and for nine weeks with her own “Up” beginning this February.

According to Triller, the top video in the U.S. for “Rumors” in the tracking week was courtesy of Charli D’Amelio, whose August 24 upload featuring the song boasts 617,000 views to date.

All the rumors are true… Cardi B has another chart-topper on her hands.

The 28-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar’s collaboration with Lizzo, “Rumors,”has debuted at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart dated August 28.

The track also begins as the genre’s top-selling tune of the week.

With the leading entrance, Lizzo posts her third No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. “Rumors” follows “Truth Hurts,” which reigned for 11 nonconsecutive weeks in 2019 before it surrendered to her own “Good as Hell,” a four-week nonconsecutive champ.

Cardi B, meanwhile, obtains a lucky seventh leader thanks to the No. 1 debut.

Thanks to “WAP” and “Rumors,” Cardi B is the third person to appear on the above list twice, after Iggy Azalea and Megan Thee Stallion.

Elsewhere, “Rumors” races to a No. 1 debut on the Hot Rap Songs chart and a No. 4 launch on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.

“Rumors,” released August 13, starts strong in both the sales and streaming realms. On the former, the collaboration kicks off at No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart through 17,900 downloads in the week ending Aug. 19, according to MRC Data. (Including physical products, the song sold 25,200 copies overall in its first frame.) In the streaming sector, “Rumors” debuts in the runner-up slot on R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs thanks to 20.9 million U.S. streams in the same period.

Initial radio airplay numbers for “Rumors” are highly encouraging, with action in multiple formats. The mainstream pop radio format leads the reception, with “Rumors” advancing 26-19 on the Pop Airplay chart after its first full week of tracking, which ended Aug. 22. The tune also closes in on the top 20 on Rhythmic Airplay, where it surges 32-21, again, after its first full week of availability to radio programmers. And while the aforementioned formats are its current biggest advocates, the single also registers on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart at No. 34, retaining its position from the prior week.

From its performance across all formats, “Rumors” debuts at No. 21 on the all-genre Radio Songs chart. The entrance secures both Lizzo and Cardi B the highest starts of each’s career, surpassing the No. 40 bow of “Good as Hell” and the No. 33 arrival of “Please Me,” respectively.

Cardi B Signs Publishing Deal with Warner Chappell Music

Cardi B is celebrating a new deal…

The 28-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar has signed a publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music (WCM), moving her catalog over from Sony Music Publishing.

The news, first reported by Variety, brings Cardi B’s recording and publishing under the Warner Music Group umbrella, as Cardi B has been signed to Warner Music Group’s Atlantic Records since 2017.

A representative for WCM declined to comment, and representatives for Sony Music Publishing could not be reached at press time.

Cardi B’s move to WCM comes in advance of her highly-anticipated sophomore album, the follow up to Invasion of Privacy, her Grammy-winning debut album released in 2018.

She has released a bevy of successful singles since then, including the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s “Up” and “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion, and notches her latest feature, appearing on Lizzo‘s brand-new single “Rumors.”

WCM co-chairs Guy Moot and Carianne Marshall, alongside president of U.S. A&R Ryan Press, have signed a string of hit artists and songwriters recently, including Anderson .Paak, Bruno Mars, Saweetie, 42 Dugg, Belly, Quincy Jones and Cab Calloway.

Cardi B is dispelling rumors…

The 28-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar has joined voices with Lizzo to release their all-new single “Rumors,” as well as the song’s Greektastic music video.

The song marks the duo’s first-ever collaboration.

On Thursday, ahead of the release, the two Grammy winners posted a promotional clip with a sneak peek from the music video. In it, Lizzo is heard singing, “All the rumors are true, yeah.”

Also in promotion of the tune, Cardi B posted the official artwork for “Rumors” on Instagram.

“RUMORS on Friday, and yes this is the single art,” she captioned her post on Wednesday. Lizzo posted an identical post on Thursday and captioned it, “Fun fact: we took this picture right after Cardi whispered ‘I want to eat yo p—y’ in my ear ‘RUMORS’ THIS FRIDAY YOU READY?” To which Cardi commented, “Lmmmmaaaoooo I wonder if the camera man caught that part .”

The music video features a pregnant Cardi B and Lizzo – both dripping in finery –center stage in the gold-plated video, which takes its inspiration from ancient Greece.

Cardi B is spreading rumors…

The 28-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar has teamed up with Lizzo for a highly anticipated new single, “Rumors,” which will be released on Friday at 12:00 am.

Lizzo and Cardi B offered a sneak peek into their upcoming “Rumors” video on Thursday.

Lizzo, who’s credited as the lead artist on the single, posted the trailer on her socials hours before it officially arrives. The visual shows separate shots of the two ancient Greek goddess-looking singers summoning the power of the lightning that strikes behind them, before they come together and create a spark with the touch of their fingertips à la Michaelangelo‘s The Creation of Adam.

Cardi B, who’s currently pregnant with her and Offset‘s second child, shows off her baby bump in a golden two-piece and ancient Greek column cap. While displaying her belly in the “Rumors” visual, the rapper was reluctant to show her stomach during the “Wild Side” music video with Normani, but joked that she would’ve contributed to the choreo-heavy video if she wasn’t expecting.

“If I wasn’t pregnant I would of done a lit ass pole video to wildside ….but I am so imma just have to do a video rolling on the floor like peppa pig,” the rapper tweeted in July.

“SNEAK PEEK OF ‘RUMORS’. ARE YALL READY? MIDNIGHT. TONIGHT. @iamcardib,” Lizzo captioned the Instagram clip, to which Cardi responded: “I think they ready now.”
