Gabriel Fluffy Iglesias has hit rock bottom

The 47-year-old Mexican American stand-up comedian and actor is lending his voice to the animated caveman comedy Rock Bottom.

Australia’s Odin’s Eye Animation (OEA) has boarded sales on the project, the latest production from Mexican animation powerhouse Huevocartoon Studios.

Iglesias’ many animation voice credits include The Nut Job and The Book of Life.

Rock Bottom is a co-production with Dario Sanchez’s 3DoublesProductions, the Spanish studio based in Tenerife known for its work on 100% WolfInspector Sun and upcoming film SuperKlaus.

OEA has acquired worldwide rights to the film excluding Latin America, which will be handled by Videocine; Televisa/Univision) and Spain (3 Doubles Productions).

As per the synopsis, Rock Bottom follows the story of Gungo, an overconfident heir to the chieftain’s throne. After his banishment, he finds himself leading a motley crew of outcasts to reclaim his rightful place and guide his tribe toward a prosperous future, learning lessons about unity, resilience, and the true meaning of strength along the way.

The film is co-directed, co-written and co-produced by HuevoCartoons fraternal co-founders Rodolfo Riva Palacio and Gabriel Riva Palacio.

Felipe Esparza Signs with United Talent Agency for Global Representation

United Talent Agency (UTA) has signed the 47-year-old Mexican stand-up comedian and actor for representation in all areas globally.

Felipe Esparza,  Rising to fame as the 2010 winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Esparza’s most recent special was the dual-language Felipe Esparza: Bad Decisions, which debuted on Netflix to critical acclaim, in both English and Spanish, in 2020.

His special, Translate This, premiered on HBO in 2017 and continues to be available for streaming on all HBO platforms.

His first, 2012’s They’re Not Gonna Laugh At You, made its way to Netflix after debuting on Showtime.

Esparza has also appeared on series like NBC’s Superstore, Adult Swim’s The Eric Andre Show, Netflix’s Gentefied, and Cartoon Network’s Victor and Valentino.

His notable film credits include Guest House with Pauly Shore7th & Union with Omar ChaparroDaddy Daughter Trip with Rob SchneiderYou People with Eddie Murphy and Jonah Hill, and Blue Beetle with Xolo Maridueña and George Lopez.

Cinemark Picks Up Monica Huarte’s Family Adventure-Comedy “Daddy Daughter Trip”

Rob Schneider’s family adventure-comedy Daddy Daughter Trip, co-starring the 41-year-old Mexican actress, has been picked up by Cinemark following a successful opening with Harkins Theatres.

Monica HuarteThe film, which Schneider produced, directed and stars in, will now be shown in 45 Cinemark locations, having premiered in an exclusive roll-out at fifteen Harkins Theatres locations on September 30.

The film also expanded to additional Harkins Theatres this weekend.

The live-action/animation hybrid tells the story of a 2nd grader (Miranda Scarlett Schneider) who dreams of a fun-filled spring break vacation her family can’t afford. Against the better judgment of her mom (Jackie Sandler) and with only coins in their pockets, her dreamer father (Schneider) decides to take her on a spring break trip anyway. After a series of misfortunate adventures, their vacation is saved when the duo meet a couple of famous travel bloggers (Huarte and Miguel Ángel Muñoz).

John Cleese, Elle King and Gavin Guerrero also star in the film written by Jamie Lissow & Patricia Schneider.

Rob Schneider produced alongside Patricia Schneider, David Tanner and Angie M. Cruz from Mandalini Pictures, with Dusty Desert Trailer’s Todd Graves executive producing, and Joss Monzon and Francisco Herrera creating the animation.

Huarte’s previous credits include Enfermo Amor, 40 y 20 and The Vineyard.

The 39-year-old Mexican actress is starring opposite Rob Schneider in the family adventure live action comedy-animation hybrid Daddy Daughter Trip, which the SNL alum also produced and directed.

Principal production on the film, which was shot in Arizona, has been completed.

In addition to Huarte and Schneider, the film also stars Jackie Sandler, Migel Ángel Muñoz, Monty Python’s John Cleese, Schneider’s daughter Grammy nominated singer songwriter Elle King, as well as Miranda Scarlett Schneider and Gavin Joseph.

Muñoz, a 38-year-old Spanish actor and singer, has appeared on Presunto culpable, Sin identidad and Infames.

Jacob Perez Starring in Netflix’s Family Comedy “Home Team”

Netflix has revealed the cast roaster for family comedy Home Team, including the 13-year-old Latino actor.

The project is loosely inspired by New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton’s experiences during his year-long suspension from the league.

It was previously reported that Kevin James would play Payton in the film, which hails from Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison and James’ Hey Eddie Productions banner.

In addition James and Perez, the cast includes Taylor LautnerRob Schneider, Jackie Sandler, Gary Valentine, Tait Blum, Maxwell Simkins, Bryant Tardy, Manny Magnus, Liam Kyle, Christopher Farrar, Merek Mastrov, Isaiah Mustafa, Christopher Titone, Ashley D. Kelley, Lavell Crawford, Allen Covert, Anthony L. Fernandez, and Jared Sandler.

The film follows Payton who, two years after a Super Bowl win when he’s suspended, goes back to his hometown and finds himself reconnecting with his 12-year-old son by coaching his Pop Warner football team. Payton was suspended in 2012 for his role in the team’s Bountygate scandal where bounties were allegedly being paid to players who would try to injure players from the opposing team.

Charles Kinnane and Daniel Kinnane are co-directing the film, which is currently in production. The script is by Christopher Titone and Keith Blum.

Netflix to Release Garcia’s “The Ridiculous Six” on December 11

The half-Chilean and half-Chilean actor will star opposite Adam Sandler in the The Ridiculous Six, one of the first batch of theatrical-quality films from Netflix.

As part of the streaming service’s feature film initiative, the film is the first of four films that Sandler will star in and produce through his Happy Madison banner.

The comedy premieres on Netflix on December 11, with Sandler and Garcia starring alongside Terry Crews, Taylor Lautner, Rob Schneider, Luke Wilson and Nick Nolte.

Sandler’s The Wedding Singer helmer Frank Coraci directed the comic ensemble Western from a script by Tim Herlihy and Sandler, and Sandler and Allen Covert produced it.

Rodriguez’s New “InAPPropriate Comedy” Trailer Released

She may be the “living dead” in the Fast & Furious 6, but Michelle Rodriguez is downright inappropriate in her next big screen project.

The green band trailer for InAPPropriate Comedy, which stars the 34-year-old half-Dominican, half-Puerto Rican actress, has just been released.

The clip highlights some improper humor from Rodriguez and her co-stars, including Adrien Brody, Rob Schneider and Lindsay Lohan.

Directed and written by Vince Offer, the film is about a computer tablet full of the world’s most hilariously offensive apps that break through the borders of political correctness, stirring up cultural anarchy.

InAPPropriate Comedy follows Flirty Harry (Brody), a cop who has a flare for fashion, a horny psychologist who is also a porn critic (Schneider) and his enthusiastic counterpart, Harriet (Rodriguez).

In the clip, Harriet gives her opinion about Japanese culture and Japanese men who are “more sensitive.”

The R-rated comedy is set to open in U.S. theaters on March 22.

Derbez Ready to Make English-Language TV Debut in iRob!

Eugenio Derbez is ready for his close-up on English-language television in the States after hosting the Latin Grammys and starring in the critically acclaimed indie film La Misma Luna opposite Kate del Castillo.

The 49-year-old Mexican comedian/actor, who currently appears as a Mexican gardener in Adam Sandler’s latest film Jack & Jill, will be making his U.S. television debut in Rob Schneider’s new CBS sitcom, ¡Rob!

“[¡Rob! is going to be] a really, really funny series!” says Derbez, who made his television debut at the age of 12 as an extra in a telenovela. “Remember the movie Meet the Parents? Well this is like, Meet the Mexicans!”

iRob! stars Schneider as a bachelor who marries into an extremely tight-knit Mexican-American family.

In addition to Derbez, the show will star Cheech Marin, Diana Maria Riva and Lupe Ontiveros as the Deuce Bigalow star’s in-laws.

“There’s this culture clash when they arrive,” adds Derbez. “It’s a really funny situation.”

Several episodes of the half-hour comedy have already been filmed and the network plans to debut the show in mid-January.

But Derbez isn’t putting all his acting huevos in one basket. He’s set to costar with Eva Mendes, Espinoza Paz and Raini Rodriguez in the upcoming movie Girl in Progress.
