Floriana Lima to Star in NBC’s Drama Pilot “Blank Slate”

The 41-year-old part-Spanish American actress has been cast as one of the leads in NBC’s Blank Slate, a drama pilot from Dean Georgaris, John Fox, Davis Entertainment and Universal Television.

Blank Slate draws some parallels to Davis Entertainment’s long-running NBC series The Blacklist.

In Blank Slate, Special Agent Alexander McCoy is a legend in law enforcement, the agent we all hope is out there, the agent we’d all like to be. The only issue is — he doesn’t actually exist. He’s a ghost, a phantom. So what happens when a man claiming to be Alexander McCoy walks through the door with all of his skills and knowledge but with an agenda nobody will see coming?

Lima plays Maya Logan, the seasoned head of a team of Homeland Security agents who’s always a step ahead of everyone else.

Georgaris executive produces via his Georgaris Inc. banner; John Davis and John Fox executive produce for Davis Entertainment. Shepard also executive produces. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio.

Lima recently starred in the third season of ABC’s drama A Million Little Things.

She previously was seen in the second season of Netflix and Marvel’s The Punisher, opposite Jon Bernthal.

She joined the CW’s Supergirl in the second season, starring as special crimes investigator Maggie Sawyer, one of the first openly gay characters in mainstream comics.

Camila Perez to Star Opposite Eugenio Derbez in Apple TV+’s Bilingual Comedy Series “Acapulco”

Camila Perez is headed south of the border…

The Colombian actress will star opposite Eugenio Derbez in Acapulco, Apple TV+’s bilingual comedy series inspired by 3Pas Studios and Pantelion Films’ 2017 Derbez starrer How to Be a Latin Lover.

Perez joins a list of cast newcomers that includes Enrique Arrizon, Damian Alcázar and Raphael Alejandro.

Richard Shepard will direct the pilot episode for Lionsgate Television.

Created by Austin Winsberg, Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman, Acapulco is a half-hour Spanish- and English-language comedy that centers on Maximo (Arrizon), a young Mexican man whose dream comes true when he gets the job of a lifetime at the hottest resort in Acapulco. But soon he realizes that the gig is far more complicated than he ever imagined as all of his beliefs and morals start to be questioned.

The series takes place in 1984, with Derbez narrating and playing the present-day version of the main character.

Also reprising his role from the movie is Alejandro, who plays Hugo, Older Maximo’s nephew.

Alcázar joins the cast as Don Pablo, the head of operations at the Acapulco resort. Perez will play Julia, the resort’s front desk receptionist.

Perez’s credits include Gotham and A Teacher.

Arrizon’s credits also include An Unknown Enemy.

Alcázar has been seen in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and The Perfect Dictatorship.

Fox Renews Ortiz’s Drama Series “Rosewood” for Second Season

Fox has given a second season pickup to its freshman drama Rosewood, starring the 29-year-old Puerto Rican actress and dancer.

The series stars Morris Chestnut as Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr., a private pathologist working in Miami, Florida, in high demand with law enforcement.

Ortiz portrays Det. Annalise Villa.

Rosewood, from Temple Hill and 20th Century Fox Television, was created by Todd Harthan. It’s executive-produced by Harthan, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen. Richard Shepard served as director and executive producer on the pilot.

Rosewood averages 7.8 million total viewers across platforms.

Ortiz to Star Opposite Morris Chestnut in Fox’s Untitled Todd Harthan Drama Pilot

The Puerto Rican actress has been cast as the female lead opposite Morris Chestnut in Fox’s untitled Todd Harthan drama pilot.

The closed-ended procedural, written by Harthan and directed by Richard Shepard, centers on Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr. (portrayed by Chestnut), a gifted, charismatic private pathologist who can read living and dead bodies like a book.

Ortiz, a newcomer out of New York, who got her break when Chris Carter cast her in his Amazon pilot The After, will play Karissa Villa, a former NYPD detective who recently moved back to Miami and ends up helping Dr. Rosewood.

Trailer Released for the Black Comedy “Dom Hemingway,” Starring Bichir

He may portray a police detective on FX’s The Bridge But Demián Bichir is far from law-abiding in his latest film.

Lionsgate has released the official trailer for Dom Hemingway, starring the 50-year-old Mexican actor as Jude Law’s maniacal boss.

Law plays the eponymous larger-than-life safecracker in the black comedy. Back on the streets of London after 12 years in prison, he’s eager to collect what he’s owed for keeping his mouth shut. But things take a turn when he and his partner (Richard E. Grant) visit his boss (Bichir) in the south of France.

Game of ThronesEmilia Clarke also stars in the film  from The Matador writer-director Richard Shepard.

Lionsgate UK is releasing the film on November 15th in Britain and Fox Searchlight will release the film in North America next year.

Bichir to Star in “Dom Hemingway”

He may be known for his dramatic work… But Demian Bichir will soon be showing off his comedic chops on the big screen…

The 49-year-old Mexican actor, who received an Oscar nod this year for his work in A Better Life, will play a crime boss in the black comedy Dom Hemingway from The Matador writer-director Richard Shepard.

Jude Law and Richard E. Grant were already signed on to star in the revenge story. Law plays an eponymous larger-than-life safecracker who’s back on the streets of London after 12 years in prison and anxious to get some money in exchange for keeping his mouth shut. But things take a turn for the worse when he sets off to visit Bichir’s capo in the south of France.

Shooting is expected to start on October 15 in the south of France.

Bichir recently appeared in Oliver Stone’s Savages with Benicio del Toro and Salma Hayek, and he’’ll next be seen in Robert RodriguezMachete Kills with Sofia Vergara and Danny Trejo, as well as Paul Feig’s The Heat with Sandra Bullock.
