Vico Ortiz Signs with Paradigm

Vico Ortiz has new representation.

The Latinx, non-binary and gender-fluid actor has signed with Paradigm.

Vico OrtizOrtiz is a known for their work in HBO Max’s Our Flag Means Death and The Sex Lives of College Girls, and Starz’s Vida.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Ortiz’s first breakthrough role was in Amazon Prime Video’s Transparent. They then appeared in recurring roles for Freeform’s The Fosters and Everything’s Gonna Be Okay, and Netflix’s Lucifer. They appeared in Starz’s Vida, where their drag king alter ego Vico Suave made their screen debut.

Currently Ortiz is a series regular on Our Flag Means Death, appearing opposite stars Taika Waititi and Rhys Darby. They play Jim, the first non-binary pirate to exist in a period piece. Their additional credits include S.O.Z: Soldados o. Zombies, American Horror Story: 1984Criminal Minds9-1-1Ray Donovan and Jane The Virgin.

Beyond television, they were a co-lead in The Syed Family Xmas Eve Game Night, which premiered at TIFF in 2021. Ortiz also received a 2021 Queerties Award nomination for their performance in the buzzed about queer digital series, These Thems.

Beyond their on-screen work, Ortiz is an activist and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. They championed organizations including The Dru Project and the Los Angeles LGBTQ Center..

Fred Armisen to Appear on HBO Max’s Pirate Comedy “Our Flag Means Death”

Fred Armisen is raising some flags

The 54-year-old half-Venezuelan American actor has joined the cast of HBO Max’s pirate comedy Our Flag Means Death, joining stars Rhys Darby and Taika Waititi.

The series hails from writer David Jenkins, Garrett Basch and Dan Halsted.

Created by Jenkins, who also serves as showrunner, Our Flag Means Death is based loosely on the true adventures of Stede Bonnet (Darby), a pampered aristocrat who abandoned his life of privilege to become a pirate.

Armisen joins the cast in a recurring role. Details about his character have not been revealed.

The ensemble cast also includes Ewen Bremner, David Fane, Nat Faxon, Nathan Foad, Joel Fry, Leslie Jones, Samson Kayo, Guz Khan, Rory Kinnear, Matt Maher, Kristian Nairn, Con O’Neill and Vico Ortiz.

Our Flag Means Death is executive produced by Waititi, Jenkins, Basch and Halsted.

Vico Ortiz to Star in HBO Max’s Upcoming Pirate Series “Our Flag Means Death”

Vico Ortiz is about to batten down the hatches

The non-binary Puerto Rican actor, drag king, activist and performer extraordinaire will star in HBO Max’s upcoming period comedy Our Flag Means Death.

Ortiz joins a cast of newcomers that includes Kristian Nairn, Nathan Foad, Samson Kayo, Rory Kinnear and Con O’Neill.

The series hails from Taika Waititi, David Jenkins, Garrett Basch and Dan Halsted.

Ortiz is set to portray Bonifacia.

The series, which stars Rhys Darby and Waititi, based loosely on the true adventures of Stede Bonnet, a pampered aristocrat who abandoned his life of privilege to become a pirate in the early 18th century.

Bonnet was a moderately wealthy land owner who later turned to a life of crime as a pirate. He bought a sailing vessel, named it Revenge and traveled with his paid crew along the Eastern Seaboard of what is now the United States, capturing other vessels and burning other Barbadian ships.

Darby plays Bonnet, while Waititi, who is also directing the pilot episode and will executive-produce, will play Blackbeard, history’s most feared and revered pirate.

Ortiz’s previous credits include Indebted, Vida and Everything’s Gonna Be Okay.

TBS to Premiere Season 2 of Ginger Gonzaga’s “Wrecked” in June

TBS has given its survival comedy Wrecked, starring the part-Latina actress, a launch date. It will premiere Tuesday, June 20, with back-to-back episodes at 10:00 pm ET on TBS.

Wrecked is about a diverse group of airplane passengers stranded on an uninhabited island, a dangerous new world where they must face many threats – mostly brought on by themselves. No longer plugged into the rest of the world, the group struggles to navigate their makeshift society while also learning to live without such modern comforts as indoor plumbing, wi-fi, social media and Chipotle.

In addition to Gonzaga, the ensemble cast includes Asif Ali, Zach Cregger, Rhys Darby, Brooke Dillman, Will Greenberg, Jessica Lowe, Ally Maki and Brian Sacca.

The first season of Wrecked was executive produced by Justin Shipley & Jordan Shipley, along with Jesse Hara and Moses Port.

TBS has given an early renewal for the network’s rookie comedy series Wrecked, starring the part Latina actress.

Wrecked, which revolves around a diverse group of plane crash survivors on a remote island, was picked up for a 10-episode second season.

Wrecked is reaching a multiplatform audience of 5.2 million viewers across linear, video on demand, digital and mobile. It ranks among cable’s Top 25 scripted series for the year-to-date and is the No. 1 new cable comedy based on Live+7 delivery of adults 18-49, according to TBS and Nielsen.

In addition to Gonzaga, the ensemble cast includes Asif Ali, Zach Cregger, Rhys Darby, Brooke Dillman, Will Greenberg, Jessica Lowe, Ally Maki and Brian Sacca.

Wrecked airs at 10:00 pm ET on Tuesdays.

Gonzaga to Star in TBS’ Comedy Pilot “Wrecked”

The part-Latina actress has been cast in the TBS pilot Wrecked, a single-camera comedy from up-and-coming writers Justin Shipley and Jordan Shipley and producer Jesse Hara.

Described as Lost meets It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Wrecked follows a group of extremely diverse survivors of a plane crash on a remote island who must adjust to life in a dangerous new world that poses unique threats — mostly brought upon themselves. No longer plugged in, the group must navigate this new society and learn to live without the comforts of 2015, including social media, Wifi, indoor plumbing and Chipotle.

Gonzaga, whose television credits include Anger Management, Mixology and In Gayle We Trust, will portray Emma, who’s on her way to Thailand with her friend, Florence, after having decided to drop out of medical school.

Gonzaga’s costars include Zach Cregger, Jessica Lowe, Asif Ali, Ally Maki, Will Greenberg, Brooke Dillman, James ScottGeorge Basil and Rhys Darby.

Filming on the pilot has begun in Puerto Rico.
