Del Negro Cast in USA’s Old Hollywood Pilot “Paradise Pictures”

It’s Paradise found for Matthew Del Negro

The 42-year-old Latino actor has joined the cast of USA’s Old Hollywood pilot Paradise Pictures, written and executive produced by Suits scribe Rick Muirragui.

Matthew Del Negro

The period drama revolves around ambitious people striving to get to the top in 1940s Hollywood, when the dream factory was at its peak. Little do they know the challenges they’re about to face: the end of the studio monopolies, the blacklist and the disruptive new technology of television.

Del Negro plays Ray Aberdeen, the head of security at Paradise Pictures, and Tom Kirby’s (Morgan Spector) right-hand man. Being the studio “fixer” requires Aberdeen to clean up messes, cover up scandals and mete out justice to contract players who have crossed the line.

Del Negro currently recurs on Scandal and had extensive arcs on The Sopranos, The West Wing, Mistresses and The United States of Tara. He most recently played Detective Hauser opposite Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara in feature Hot Pursuit.

Gomez to Receive Ultimate Choice Honors at Teen Choice Awards

There’s no denying Selena Gomez is the ultimate entertainer, making her mark on the music charts, television and film. And now she’ll have a special prize to prove it.

The 22-year-old half-Mexican American actress will receive the  Ultimate Choice Award this Sunday during the 2014 Teen Choice Awards, according to E! News.

Selena Gomez

Gomez, a 10-time Teen Choice Award winner, is being recognized for being a multi-hyphenate performer, as a star on the charts and on the big and small screen.

Gomez has won at least one TCA prize every year since 2009, when she picked up three awards. This year she’s up for Choice Female Hottie and Choice Smile.

The “Come & Get It” singer joins an A-list roster of entertainers who previously received the honor, including Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Ashton Kutcher, Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Mike Myers.

Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey will host the big show, which airs on Sunday, Aug. 10, at 8:00 pm ET on Fox.

del Toro In Final Talks to Star Opposite Emily Blunt in the Crime Thriller “Sicario”

Benicio del Toro may soon star in a Sic role…

The 47-year-old Puerto Rican actor, who earned an Academy Award for his performance in Traffic, is in final talks to star in the crime thriller Sicario.

Benicio del Toro

del Toro would star opposite Emily Blunt in the film which centers on the hunt for a dangerous drug kingpin.

Blunt will portray a female cop from Tucson, Arizona, who travels across the border to Mexico with mercenaries to catch a notorious drug lord.

Sicario will be helmed by Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve, based on a screenplay from Sons of Anarchy actor Taylor Sheridan.

del Toro will next star as Taneleer Tivan or The Collector in James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy, which will hit U.S. theaters on August 1.

He’s also among the cast of Paul Thomas Anderson‘s all-star crime comedy drama Inherent Vice along with Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon and Maya Rudolph, among others.

Vergara to Star Opposite Reese Witherspoon in “Don’t Mess with Texas”

Don’t Mess with Sofia Vergara?

The 41-year-old Colombian actress will star opposite Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon in Don’t Mess with Texas.

Sofia Vergara

The film is described as a female-driven Midnight Run-style comedy.

Witherspoon will play a police officer and Vergara a prisoner who are forced to go on the lam together.

Witherspoon and Vergara have been in talks to participate in this project for some time now, but their deals are now coming together quickly so that Vergara can shoot the film during her hiatus from ABC’s Modern Family this spring.

27 Dresses and The Proposal director Anne Fletcher is currently in talks to helm the action comedy.

Lopez to Receive March of Dimes’ Grace Kelly Award

Jennifer Lopez is getting a royal honor…

The 44-year-old Puerto Rican singer/actress and American Idol judge is being feted by the March of Dimes.

Jennifer Lopez

Lopez, the mother of 5-year-old twins, Maximilian and Emme, will receive the Grace Kelly Award at the eighth annual March of Dimes luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Friday.

She’s being recognized as a celebrity parent role model supporting women giving birth to healthy babies after full-term pregnancies.

The 75-year-old nonprofit organization aims to prevent birth defects, premature births and infant mortality.

“As a mother myself, I am aware of the importance of healthful pregnancies and babies,” said Lopez in a statement.

Lopez joins a list of previous honorees that includes Reese Witherspoon, who honored at last year’s event.

It’s all in the jeans for Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba in Jeans

The 31-year-old half-Mexican American actress, who recently went blonde for her role in the upcoming follow-up to the cult classic Sin City, has landed a spot on People magazine’s 2012 Best-Dressed Women list.

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge, is heralded for having the Best Classic Style, thanks to her “flawlessly elegant attires” that range from glamorous to chic numbers befitting a future queen.

Iron Man actress Gwyneth Paltrow is chosen for her “spot-on sartorial instincts” by People’s editors as the World’s Best-Dressed Woman.

Here’s a look at this year’s Best-Dressed List:

Diaz: A One Hit Wonder?

She may be one of Hollywood’s most bankable leading ladies… But Cameron Diaz could soon find herself labeled a “one hit wonder.”

The 39-year-old part Cuban American actress is attached to star in One Hit Wonders alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Beyonce and Andy Samberg.

Cameron Diaz

The musical comedy, a collaboration between Sony Pictures and Glee creator Ryan Murphy, will feature Diaz, Paltrow and Witherspoon as singers who each scored a top hit song in the 1990s before watching their careers go down the drain. In their quest to return to pop chart prominence, the ladies decide to join forces to form a super group.

In a seven-figure preemptive deal, Murphy is attached to direct, as well as write the script with his Glee cohorts Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. Murphy will produce with Paltrow.

The project reportedly came out of a dinner Murphy had with Paltrow, Diaz and Witherspoon. They discussed doing a fun project together and toyed around with several ideas until they settled on One Hit Wonders.

While nothing is concrete yet, Sony Pictures and Murphy are working on overdrive to hammer out the deals with all attached to secure project.
