Trailer Released for Kevin James’ “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2,” Co-Starring Verastegui

The first official trailer has been released for Kevin JamesPaul Blart: Mall Cop 2, with the 40-year-old Mexican actor appearing in the sequel to the 2009 film.

Filmed at the Wynn Las Vegas, the film sees James’ title character pratfalling, getting hit by cars, punching old ladies and getting his clocked cleaned by a large featured beast.

This time he’s in Las Vegas for a Security Guard Expo with his teenage daughter (Raini Rodriguez) before she leaves for college. He happens upon a casino heist, and the hijinks ensue

Verastegui portrays Eduardo in the film, which also stars Daniella Alonso, David Henrie, Neal McDonough and Loni Love.

The sequel was directed by Andy Fickman from a script by James and Nick Bakay.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 will open in theaters on April 17.

Irigoyen to Star in the Disney Channel’s Comedy Pilot “Growing Up and Down”

Things are looking up (and down) for Adam Irigoyen

The 16-year-old half-Cuban American actor and Disney Channel star has been cast as the lead in the network’s newest pilot Growing Up and Down, which has been given the green light.

Irogoyen, best known  for his role as Deuce Martinez in the network’s series Shake It Up, will star opposite Austin & Ally star Raini Rodriguez in the family comedy.

Irogoyen and Rodriguez will portray adult parents who suddenly and inexplicably are transformed into teenagers again.

Cecilia Balagot and Noah Centineo will co-star as their teenage kids, who now must navigate high school with their parents — a couple with the daunting task of re-living their adolescence under the critical eyes of their children.

 

Production on Growing Up and Down is slated to begin in August.

The Disney Channel Renews Rodriguez’s “Austin & Ally” for Fourth Season

Raini Rodriguez’s reign on the Disney Channel will continue for another season…

The network has picked up a fourth season of Austin & Ally, which stars the 20-year-old Latina actress, Ross Lynch, Laura Marano and Calum Worthy.

For the last three seasons Rodriguez has portrayed Trish on themulti-camera comedy, which focuses on the relationship between two very different musicians: extroverted singer and instrumentalist Austin Moon (Lynch), who is fun-loving and outgoing; and introverted and awkward songwriter Ally Dawson (Marano), who is a good singer but had an extreme case of stage fright.

The series from creators/executive producers Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert and It’s A Laugh Productions tops its time slot among kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14.

No premiere date for Season 4 was announced.

Alonso to Star Opposite Kevin James in “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2”

The 34-year-old half-Puerto Rican and part-Peruvian actress has been cast as Kevin James’ love interest in Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, according to TheWrap.

The Andy Fickman-directed sequel finds Blart attending a Security Guard Expo in Las Vegas, where he takes on a group of dangerous art thieves.

Alonso will portray Divina Martinez, the general manager of the Wynn Hotel, who is completely perplexed when Blart presumes that she’s hitting on him. Flustered yet determined to clarify the situation, she reaches out to Blart several times, only to reinforce his original theory.

In addition to James and Alonso, Eduardo Verastegui, Selena Gomez’s Wizards of Waverly Place co-star David Henrie and Raini Rodriguez.

Alonso, who next stars on NBC‘s upcoming summer series The Night Shift, recently played fan favorite Nora Clayton on the network’s hit series Revolution.

The 39-year-old Mexican actor has signed on to star in Kevin JamesPaul Blart: Mall Cop 2.

The sequel to the hit comedy will see James’ title character attending a security guard expo in Las Vegas with his daughter, where he’s mocked by casino security until he helps them take on a group of dangerous art thieves.

Verastegui, a former telenovela star in his native Mexico, will portray a Vegas hotelier whose hotel becomes a heist target.

In addition to James and Verastegui, the sequel will also star Selena Gomez’s Wizards of Waverly Place co-star David Henrie as Lane, a charming valet attendant whom Blart’s daughter Maya develops a crush on.

Meantime, Raini Rodriguez is in negotiations to reprise her role as Maya and Molly Shannon is in talks to co-star.

Nicholas Turturro has been cast as one of Blart’s security guard rivals. And James’ brother, comedian Gary ValenVerastegui tine, is set to play a sympathetic fellow security guard.

Andy Fickman is directing Mall Cop 2 from a script by James and Nick Bakay, who wrote the first film.

Rodriguez’s “Austin & Ally” Renewed for Third Season

There will be plenty more of Raini Rodriguez on the Disney Channel

The network has ordered a third season of Austin & Ally, which stars the 19-year-old Latina actress.

The series, which also stars Ross Lynch, Laura Marano and Calum Worthy, will resume production in Los Angeles in July, with Season 3 scheduled to premiere in October 2013.

Austin & Ally follows the adventures of an improbable pair — a singer and a songwriter, and their two best friends — trying to achieve their dreams.

Rodriguez portrays Trish, Ally’s best friend and Austin’s manager, on the series.

Austin & Ally is television’s No. 1 series iamong Kids 2-11 (2.3 million/5.9 rating), Kids 6-11 (1.9 million/8.1 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.8 million/7.7 rating). The series hit a series ratings high among Tweens during the quarter.

Derbez Ready to Make English-Language TV Debut in iRob!

Eugenio Derbez is ready for his close-up on English-language television in the States after hosting the Latin Grammys and starring in the critically acclaimed indie film La Misma Luna opposite Kate del Castillo.

The 49-year-old Mexican comedian/actor, who currently appears as a Mexican gardener in Adam Sandler’s latest film Jack & Jill, will be making his U.S. television debut in Rob Schneider’s new CBS sitcom, ¡Rob!

“[¡Rob! is going to be] a really, really funny series!” says Derbez, who made his television debut at the age of 12 as an extra in a telenovela. “Remember the movie Meet the Parents? Well this is like, Meet the Mexicans!”

iRob! stars Schneider as a bachelor who marries into an extremely tight-knit Mexican-American family.

In addition to Derbez, the show will star Cheech Marin, Diana Maria Riva and Lupe Ontiveros as the Deuce Bigalow star’s in-laws.

“There’s this culture clash when they arrive,” adds Derbez. “It’s a really funny situation.”

Several episodes of the half-hour comedy have already been filmed and the network plans to debut the show in mid-January.

But Derbez isn’t putting all his acting huevos in one basket. He’s set to costar with Eva Mendes, Espinoza Paz and Raini Rodriguez in the upcoming movie Girl in Progress.
