International Trailer Released for Hayek’s Action Film “Everly”

The first official international trailer for Everly, starring the 48-year-old Mexican actress, has been released.

Hayek says “Yippee-ki-yay” to Japanese mobsters and hired killers in the clip for director Joe Lynch’s ode to Asian cinema and the action classic Die Hard.

Hayek, an Oscar nominee for her performance in Frida, stars as a Yakuza prostitute-turned-informant who must find her inner John McClane and fend off assassins before she can whisk her young daughter away to a new life.

Akie Kotabe and Hiroyuki Watanabe also star in Lynch’s follow-up to Knights of Badassdom. Yale Hannon wrote the script.

Radius-TWC will first debut on iTunes and On Demand on January 23 before it hits theaters on February 27.

Radius-TWC Acquires U.S. Rights for Cannavale’s “Adult Beginners”

It’s beginners luck for Bobby Cannavale

RadiusTWC has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the Ross Katz-directed film Adult Beginners, starring the 44-year-old half-Cuban American actor.

The film centers on a young, narcissistic entrepreneur (portrayed by Nick Kroll) who crashes and burns on the eve of his company’s big launch. With his entire life in total disarray, he leaves Manhattan to move in with his estranged pregnant sister, brother-in-law and 3-year-old nephew in the suburbs – only to become their nanny.

Cannavale, a two-time Emmy-winner, portrays Danny in the film.

In addition to Kroll and Cannavale, the film also stars Rose Byrne, Joel McHale, Bobby Moynihan, Mike Birbiglia, Jane Krakowski and Josh Charles.

Adult Beginners will be released next spring.

Hayek’s “Everly” to Have Its World Premiere at Fantastic Fest

The 48-year-old Mexican actress’ action thriller Everly from Radius-TWC will make its world premiere this month at Fantastic Fest, the genre fest that takes place in Austin, Texas.

Directed by Joe Lynch from a script by Yale Hannon, the film centers on Hayek’s character. She’s described as a down-on-her-luck woman forced to fend off waves of assassins sent by her ex, a dangerous mob boss, while trying to save her estranged mother and daughter.

Joining Hayek’s film in Austin will be Blumhouse Productions and MGM/Orion’s horror remake The Town That Dreaded Sundown, Radius-TWC’s horror film It Follows, Picturehouse’s The Guest, and Dimension/Radius’ Daniel Radcliffe starrer Horns.

The annual festival runs September 18-26 out of the Alamo Drafthouse theaters, which this year will simultaneously screen its opening night film, Kevin Smith’s Tusk with Genesis Rodriguez, and the world premiere of anthology The ABCs Of Death 2 in all Drafthouse markets nationwide along with Q&As live-streamed into theaters and online.

Vega and Her “Twenty Feet From Stardom” Co-Stars to Perform at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards

The 62-year-old part-Puerto Rican and Dominican American singer, one of the stars of the documentary Twenty Feet From Stardom, will perform at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards.

Vega, Darlene Love, Judith Hill and Merry Clayton are profiled in the Oscar-nominated Radius-TWC doc, which takes a look at the lives of several of the music industry’s greatest backup singers.

Director Morgan Neville’s Twenty Feet From Stardom is nominated for a Spirit Award in the Best Documentary category.

The film also made the cut as one of the five nominees for Best Documentary Feature at the Academy Awards.

Currently the No. 1 documentary on iTunes, the film continues to build momentum as the culmination of awards season approaches.

Vega and the gang’s appearance will be the only musical performance at the ceremony, which will be hosted by Patton Oswalt.

The Spirit Awards will be handed out on March 1, 2014 during a daytime luncheon in Santa Monica and broadcast later that evening at 10 PM on IFC.

As of late 2013, Vega has been touring with Elton John in the United States as “one of the girls” singing backup and counterpoint on his The Diving Board tour.

Radius-TWC Acquires North American Rights to del Toro’s Pablo Escobar-Film “Paradise Lost”

Radius-TWC has just closed a $2 million deal with Pathé for the North American rights to the 46-year-old’s Paradise Lost.

Directed by Andrea Di Stefano, the film stars The Hunger GamesJosh Hutcherson as a young surfer who visits his brother in Colombia and falls in love with the country, especially when he meets and marries the gorgeous girl of his dreams.

He then he finds himself thrust into the family business. She’s the niece of notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar, portrayed by del Toro.

The film also stars Brady Corbet and newcomer Claudia Traisac.

“We have been tracking this project for months and could not be more energized by Benicio’s outstanding performance, Josh’s extraordinary turn and Claudia Traisac’s star-making role,” said Radius presidents Tom Quinn and Jason Janego. “Di Stefano has delivered the goods and we feel privileged to be working alongside him on this fantastic film.”

Dimension Films and Radius-TWC have acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the 47-year-old Mexican actress’ intense action thriller Everly.

Directed by Joe Lynch from a script by Yale Hannon, the film centers in Hayek’s character. She’s described as a down-on-her-luck woman forced to fend off waves of assassins sent by her ex, a dangerous mob boss, while trying to save her estranged mother and daughter.

Togo Igawa, Masashi Fujimoto and Hiroyuki Watanabe also star in Everly, which is slated for a fourth quarter 2014 release.

“We’ve been on the hunt for a female driven action franchise and we’ve finally found it in Everly,” said Radius co-presidents Tom Quinn and Jason Janego. “Salma is utterly transcendent.”

It’s the latest project from the Oscar-nominated actress to make headlines in recent days.

Hayek previously signed on to star opposite Shohreh Aghdashloo in the thriller The Septembers of Shiraz, the film adaptation of a Dalia Sofer novel.
