Juan Luis Guerra Releases Eclectic New EP “Radio Güira”

Juan Luis Guerra is back with new music…

The 66-year-old Dominican musician, singer, composer and record producer and his band, Juan Luis Guerra y 4.40, light up the party this week with Radio Güira.

The EP features six songs presented, as its title indicates, in radio station style.

“You are listening to Radio Güira, 4.40 FM,” Guerra narrates over a techno-beat at the beginning of “Mambo 23,” the first single and opener.

“This EP has a different concept. Our purpose was to do something innovative,” Guerra explained in a press release. “We imagine a radio station playing 4.40 music in different parts of the world. We include calls, recipes, and IDs and the genres of mambo, bachata and merengue. This was our dream for many months, and today we make it known!”

With six songs written and produced by the Dominican maestro, it is impossible not to move and smile to the rhythm of mambo, bachata (“DJ Bachata”), merengue (“La Noviecita” and “Como Me Enamora”), pambiche blues (“Te Invito a un Blues”) and even pop reggaeton (“Cositas de Amor”), all with elegant touches of genres such as jazz and rock, and the sweet, poetic lyrics for which the artist is known.

Shakira Releases Music Video for Manuel Turizo-Collaboration “Copa Vacia”

Shakira is hitting the high seas…

The 46-year-old Colombian superstar has joined voices with Manuel Turizo for the first time for the Spanish-language single “Copa Vacía,” an infectious pop-reggaeton song with heartfelt lyrics about unrequited love, as well as the track’s music video.

ShakiraIn “Copa Vacía,” Shakira and Turizo have a back-and-forth discussion about not giving enough love and affection to the other person.

“You’re always busy with so many businesses/ […] Drop your phone, use your hands with me/I know you’re hot but I’m hotter,” Shakira sings in her verse.

“As if you don’t feel anything/ Now you see me differently/ I’m swimming against the current/ I’m looking in the streets who can fill this emptiness I feel,” Turizo chants back.

In the chorus, they unite to sing: “I’ve been thirsty for you for a while, I don’t know why/I’m left wanting more, wanting to drink from an empty cup.”

Just 10 days ahead of the release (on June 19), Shakira and Turizo assured fans, “We made a movie,” sharing a poster of Shakira taking the role of a mermaid and Turizo as the prince. Evidently, they did.

The music video, co-directed by Shakira and Jaume de Laiguana, features Shakira as a pink-haired mermaid who’s abandoned and forgotten on the rocks as Turizo comes to the rescue.

 

“Copa Vacía” follows Shakira’s sweet song “Acróstico,” which is a love letter to her children. The “Acróstico” music video, which was released in May, features her two sons — Milan and Sasha — who sing and play the piano alongside her.

In May, Shakira was also honored at the inaugural Billboard Latin Women in Music gala as Woman of the Year, during which she gave an emotional speech in which she acknowledged the hard times she’s been through, and thanked her mother, her friends, and women in general.

Maluma Teams Up with Marc Anthony for New Single “La Fórmula”

Maluma is trying a new formula… And, he’s calling on a Latin Music legend for an assist.

The 29-year-old Colombian singer/songwriter has joined voices with Marc Anthony to release the new single “La Fórmula.”

Maluma & Marc Anthony The track opens up with a subtle pop-reggaetón rhythm against a glimmering melody, as Maluma yearnfully croons about love lost.

Then suddenly, “La Fórmula” transforms into an ebullient salsa banger, complete with blaring horns, anchored by the passionate wail of Marc Anthony, the top selling tropical salsa artist of all time.

Produced by the two singers, as well as Edgar Barrera, Rude Boyz and Sergio George, the duet chronicles how no such formula exists for securing love and devotion with a certain someone — but there’s always that hope.

The music video captures the two superstars recording their single at The Hit Factory in Miami.

Dimelo Flow Teams Up with Reik, Jay Wheeler & Boza for Heartbreak Anthem “Winnie Pooh”

Dimelo Flow is pulling the heartstrings with his latest single…

While the catalog of the 33-year-old Panamanian deejay and producer, whose real name is Jorge Valdés Vázquez, includes saucy perreo bangers, his new track “Winnie Pooh” is a certified heartbreak anthem.

“Winnie Pooh” unites the renowned Mexican trio, Puerto Rico’s romantic voice, and the Latin Grammy-nominated Panamanian act in a mid-tempo pop-reggaeton produced by Flow and presented by Rich Music.

Making reference to the lovable and beloved bear, the lyrics tell the story of a person who gave it their all in a relationship and was underappreciated. “I filled you with so many details that you couldn’t even see yourself/ I watered the rose every day until it drowned/ I did everything to have you, but it was the other way around/ Take off your makeup because that’s not who I fell in love with,” Reik sings to kick off the track.

The chorus later announces, “This Winnie Pooh has no honey left.”

Each artist adds a unique flow to the lyrics. Boza, for example, states how he’s “Gucci” and his ex-girlfriend left him for “Old Navy.” “I’m not with you and it feels great/ Even Cristiano [Rolando] loses the ball,” chants Wheeler over a chill reggae beat.

“Winnie Pooh” follows Dimelo Flow’s star-studded collaboration “Suelta” featuring Rauw Alejandro, Farruko, Maria Becerra, Mr. Vegas, and Fatman Scoop.

Both tracks will form part of his upcoming album, Always Dream.

The music video was directed by Joel DeLeon “JD.”
